Posted January 21, 201312 yr Hi guys, I'm just wondering should I make the excellent Vampire GT by Crowkillers, or the equally good Concept Car by Nathanael Kuipers?
January 21, 201312 yr Both great cars, but the vampire is a lot more complicated. You won't be disappointed with either. If you can only choose one, choose based on what you like in terms of appearance. If you want the most functions for your money, then choose the Vampire. If you want a model and instructions that are most like an official LEGO model, then choose the Concept Car.
January 21, 201312 yr Why don't you mace your own moc? The both cars are stunning, but a disgin one off your self is better.
January 21, 201312 yr I would chose the Vampire, personally I like the look of it over the Concept car.
January 21, 201312 yr These are my favorite 2 cars and as a proud owner of both models, I might choose Paul's Vampire, only because it uses newer parts and packs in a few more features(Rear wheel/All Wheel drive switch, HOG steering, cool door mechanism, new type of gearbox). But car for car, I would rank these both equally. Each guy did an amazing job with their respective car, there is no doubt about that. Nathanael's car is built in a slightly more traditional Lego format than the Vampire GT. Both Chassis on the cars are superb, but as you can easily see, Paul's has more parts to make the body, which in my opinion is where the line is crossed over from what you would expect from Lego where as Nathanael's is traditional. One thing is for certain, whichever one you choose to build, you'll most definitely learn a few things.
January 21, 201312 yr I have only built one model from instructions since the 8448 came out in 1999 and it was Nathanael's Concept Car.. I would HIGHLY recommend building either this or his Pony Car over the Vampire GT.... Even though the Concept car uses older parts, they are all fairly easy to obtain... And both of those models are as close to official as you can get... The Vampire GT is alright, but not quite at the level of the design of those 2 models...
January 22, 201312 yr Whaaaaat!!!!!! Crowkillers is not recommending his own model? The world's gone mad. Or not. I personally recommend the Vampire, in black. The parts aren't that hard to find. Most people complain about the rarity of the 19L flex axles, but there are alternatives. XT4, for instance, has two flexible axles of slightly different types, but identical length. So, if you buy those, everything is available from Lego Direct. However, the wheels are custom chromed, so there that. But, I think that more of the Vampire's parts are available, over NK's Concept Car, and the Vampire looks better, in my opinion. Or, you could take a third option: This beauty is very cool looking, and the instructions are freely available. However, good luck finding parts for this, as the sets are long out of production.
January 22, 201312 yr I just finished Nathanael's Pony Car today, and it is absolutely fantastic the amount of functions in such a small and elegant package! I have never before built a super car (neither official nor MOC), but if the Concept Car is as good as the Pony Car, I would definately reccomend it! As for the Vampire GT, it seems to pack even more functionality, so I will try to get the parts to built that one in the future!
January 22, 201312 yr Depends on what you are looking for. The Vampire is a fantastic looking car and a great build. The Concept Car has a mindblowing design. It all seems so simple, but you have to be a great designer to make difficult things that easy. However, the looks of the Concept Car are not that awesome. So my suggestion would be: build the chassic of the Concept Car and redesign it with your own body. That way, you can experience the awe of the modular build and give it your own touch, like VFRacingteam said.
January 22, 201312 yr Author Well i'm leaning towards a red Vampire after hearing your guys feedback I'm starting to fill my bricklink shopping carts( though it might be a long time before I can buy the parts) and I'm just wondering where the red 2905 is used in the build Edited January 22, 201312 yr by Rishab N
January 22, 201312 yr Well i'm leaning towards a red Vampire after hearing your guys feedback I'm starting to fill my bricklink shopping carts( though it might be a long time before I can buy the parts) and I'm just wondering where the red 2905 is used in the build Also I'm wondering what parts are used in the spoiler as I want to build it in black Did you purchase the instructions from the crowkillers site? They will show what parts the spoiler uses. What do you mean by filling your bricklink shopping carts since it will be a while before you can purchase parts? You could add the parts list to your wanted items list.
January 22, 201312 yr @ Rishab N: Those red Technic Triangles are used on the extreme front-center of the red Vampire, on the front spoiler underneath the front license plate (tag).
