Meatman Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 $139.99 Does anyone know what the actual U.S. cost is supposed to be? Quote
z3_2drive Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 That better not be true or I'm not buying it Quote
Meatman Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I was expecting this to be no more than $110. I know Toys R Us probably has this price jacked up $20, but I was still expecting this to be right in the $110 range from Lego. The 8070 was $119.99 and that included power functions. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 $140 for this set is crazy talk... It is a nice set, but in no way shape or form worth $140... Toys R Us are a bunch of crooks... I don't understand how they can sell these sets so far above and beyond their actual retail price... My wife was looking at some of those new Ninja Turtle sets in the store and they were selling the Turtle hideout for $69.99 when it is supposed to be $49.99 and that ugly turtle van was $79.99 when it was supposed to be $59.99.... The only time Toys R Us was cool with me was when they were running the buy one get 50% off deals, but then they started raising the prices on the Technic set to the point where you really were not even saving anything as you were just about getting them at the regular price with the BOGO and then they stopped including Technic in that deal altogether... Back in 2011 they were running it every other week and in 2012, I don;t think Technic was included ever... Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 That's steep. I'd be interested in seeing what the price of this set is in the LEGO stores. I like alot of the parts that come in this set, but I don't think I'd pay $140 for it. No thanks. Quote
DLuders Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 If it costs £79.99 in the UK (per Brickset), that equates to USD $126.71 so I'm guessing that the USA Lego Store price is going to be $129.99. If Toys-R-Us has traditionally "marked up" the Lego Store price by $10, that would follow the pattern.... Quote
z3_2drive Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 its only worth $90 or $100, but I'm sure there'll be a better price on amazon or places like that... Quote
Rishab N Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 This set should be 99.99 USD as its a lot more of a fair price Quote
DaveBey Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 A Buyer Protection Plan is available for $19.99. I don't think I've seen that before on a LEGO set. $99.99 seems like a reasonable price considering 8053 Mobile Crane with 1289 pieces cost $99.99 / £76.99. Paul, I purchased 8043 Motorized Excavator and 8110 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 400 in February 2012 during one of Toys "R" Us' Buy One Get One 50% Off sales. In fact, the lady at the store ordered them both online for me! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave Quote
Mordalak Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the price The new excavator 42006 is 90 USD for 720 parts, 0.125$ per pieces Last year helicopter 9396 is also 140 USD for 1056 parts, 0.133$ per pieces This one is 1141 parts, 0.123$ per pieces Look pretty in line with the other recent models And we have a lot white parts... something else than black, grey, yellow or red Quote

I think the prices you quoted may be the price from Toys "R" Us. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave Quote

Very few sets priced in GBP are sold for their equivalent in USD, due to inclusion of VAT, higher fixed costs in UK, etc. This set should be priced closer to $100 USD. I'm hoping for the $99.99 price point. Quote
Tkavan01 Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Toys r us can charge what they want bc in America it's the only place most people ever buy the neat lego sets for their grand kids or nieces and nephews, target and Walmart refuse to carry technic, and I've never seen a Lego store in person... So there you go, to achieve instant gratification and not order online you pay a premium. Quote

You won't find too many amazing deals here, but you also won't find yourself paying above RRP on every item. Quote
FuzzyBallz Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) I'm waiting for this F1 racer to appear on LEGO Shop online. Will buy with the claw crawler when they offer free shipping again because I sure's hell don't wanna get double charged with tax and shipping. target and Walmart refuse to carry technic, and I've never seen a Lego store in person... They're pretty updated on the latest LEGO theme sets like TMNT, Super Heroes, and SW. Edited January 25, 2013 by FuzzyBallz Quote

This 42000 set should be no more than $119.99 Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 $139.99 Does anyone know what the actual U.S. cost is supposed to be? It is listed on the website, but it hasn't become available for order yet. I have an e-mail notification for when it becomes available. Strangely its not on Lego S@H yet. Seems like Technic isn't popular enough to be carried at those big box stores, just the other themes, Chima seems to be popular. I used to walk into Kmart years ago and they had a lot of Technic, but their competitors, with the exception of TRU, don't seem to carry the Technic theme any longer and haven't for years. Quote
