It wouldn't hurt anybody to sign or share the petition, as much as it wouldn't hurt anyone to support unofficial solutions.

Sorry, missed your post. Well, you can, but I just don't think it's worth it. There's no harm that can be done with a petition, but I just feel it's more worth it to support third parties.

I hate to spoil the party but surely these custom minifigs are breaching somebody's copyrights?

Okay for personal use perhaps, but not for making profit.

No one else bothered making these helmets though, so it's not like they are cutting into Lego's revenue. They are just filling that giant, gapping hole Lego left

Id think its more like the entity that created the Gondor aesthetic that could have copyrighted the the designs. But I have no idea if copyright works this way, so...

That statement is absurd.

Orthanac and Minas Tirith are no where near each other. Putting them next to each other is the most illogical thing I can think of.

On a more serious note, I don't think it means anything. I'd be surprised if it did. I think the Ideas people just comment on the positives of the project so not to be a bunch of Negative Nellies that discourage folks from being creative with these things. I mean imagine if they had said "Your project is great, but we won't accept it so you might as well give up now before it gets rejected in the spotlight." Wouldn't you love them for that? No, of course not. That's rude. One of the many purposes of Ideas is to inspire people's creativity. And so if a project has a chance at passing, even if it really doesn't, they have to let them try.

Exactly. Having a project get 10,000 votes is more to make a point in this case than it is to actually get the set made.

And several Middle-Earth themed projects all getting 10,000 votes, on top of a petition with 10,000+ signatures could REALLY get Lego's attention...

A UCS Middle Earth set will never happen. In fact, I wish people would stop attaching the UCS label to things to make it sound important. Orthanc is not UCS. Why should Minas Tirith, if it was ever produced, be done in the UCS style with fact-plate?

The downside is that the lack of projects getting to 10000 votes will also get their attention.

I thing this was already mentioned but the third Hobbit film was suppose to come out in July. So the LotR sets may have either been pushed back or never made for that reason so that the summer wave could be for the Hobbit sets.

Galactic, most people who were engaged in this thread took the fact that there is no Middle-Earth sets in the 2015 retailers catalog as the final sign that there is no LotR sets coming. The reason for the abrupt end of the line can always we debated though.

The scheduling changes for the Hobbit finals doubtless played role. But TLG came out of 17 sets for The LEGO Movie. That move pushed LEGO to the most profitable toy company in the world. The production time and shelf space, I believe, came at the expense of The Lord of the Rings lines. Despite how it affects us, that would have been the right decision.

We will never know the sells figures for any given line. So we can only speculate if it undersold or meet expectations. Designers have frequently said that it was a favorite for them.

Hi Guys, haven't been active for a while but thought I would share what I have.

I'm maybe 90% sure the LOTR line will continue in 2015, the line is huge within LEGO internally.

Not to sure if its a new wave of sets but I think its likely to be a bigger set like the orthanc, time will tell.

I just emailed lego today bugging them about LOTR 2015 haha! just keep spamming them, its what Star-Wars fans did when they were freaking out about possibly discontinuing Lego SW a few years back LOL

Do you think it would have been possible for TLG to release LotR sets in October as well? That's what they did with Star Wars this year. We got the regular wave and two additional sets with a different box.

What they did with LotR isn't just sad, it's almost unexcusable.

The "most profitable toy company in the world" part is only for months 1-6 of this year though, not including the Christmas period, when something like 75%-80% of all toy sales are made. Let's wait and see if it is true after Christmas this year.

But TLM being on the shelves undoubtedly affected Hobbit sales. Also in the UK, they were 50% off within a few weeks at ASDA, then regularly at 50% off at many retailers for a long period of time.

It was a joke, like Kraby said. Minas Tirith and Orthanac, in the real Middle Earth, are really far away from each other. I was making fun of that.

It just seemed like they were putting a lot of effort in to the theme. Like for every set they did a designer video, for all other themes they only do that for USC sets. But I will say that, at least where I live, the LotR/Hobbit sets have not been selling well. I got Helms Deep for $80 on sell, and the Pirate Ship is $60 on sell right now at my Wal-Mart.
