Alcarin Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 No it isn't but I don't know why they shouldn't announce new sets. Simply because they might've decided to go with the 3rd run and by then catalogues might've already been in productions.... its a long shot but as long as there is 1% chance (and 1% = 2015 set list) I will let it be. MKJoshA Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 If kabel says the Lego rep guy said LOTR was over, then I believe it's over. However, we have seen that happen with Batman and look where it is now? We can't buy a DC comics set without Batman being in it! And what about the scare with Lego giving up the Star Wars licence a couple years back? I will stay optimistic for now, but Lego has nothing to gain by keeping us in the dark/telling us it's over if they don't mean it. So can I be optimistic and pessimistic at the same time? Quote

Trunkbass Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Has there been any info on the (absence of an) advertisement for LOTR in the construction booklet the Brothers Workshop probably got for the Smaug video? Just sent another email to LEGO, if we keep letting them know what we want... Quote
deskp Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 super far fetched. but could we get a "shadow of mordor" set? Quote
Blakstone Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Has there been any info on the (absence of an) advertisement for LOTR in the construction booklet the Brothers Workshop probably got for the Smaug video? This is the likely response to that question?: "I'm trying to get clarification from LEGO on that....probably, but I wanna get explicit permission first." Five people, including me, clicked like on that post. Quote
Trunkbass Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Great idea about the Shadow of Mordor set, an ideal way for getting more varation in the Mordor orcs. It's actually stuff like that (high profile games with new technology - reminds me of The Force Unleashed back in the days by the way) that could get the Middle Earth themes to continue. Gaming is huge nowadays and could boost the ongoing interest in the Tolkien world, which can boost interest in LEGO LOTR. @Blakstone: didn't get you there, are you being ironic? :) Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 There's no way LEGO would make sets based on a (likely) R-rated game. You guys are getting more and more desperate. Quote

Blakstone Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Robert, rereading the tread. That was not asked before the answer probably. However, the answer was not tagged so we cannot know for sure which post they were responding. If it is not the ad question, then it was likely Teagen's question about Smaug's head sculpt. Quote
Robert_88 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I'm sure they replied to Petar Ramljak's question. He asked at 6:12 and they replied at 6:49. Is it likely that they got the official instructions in February? Quote
SMC Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Is it likely that they got the official instructions in February? I think its unlikely and if anything was missing it would be the add Quote
deskp Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 th answer was if he could post more high quality images of the set. think thats waht he responded to. Quote
SMC Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 "Please use your inside contact with Lego to keep LotR and Hobbit line going forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trunkbass Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Well, not 'very many more' would be better than nothing.. No? Quote
SMC Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 ^ I don't even know why I posted that not really telling us anything, we are just desperate to know, lego just tell us already Quote
Robert_88 Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 I don't need many more, just four or five! ;) Let's wait until we get the first information from the retailer catalogue! Quote

wesker Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 when do we usually see that? We usually get set names for the Winter wave in late August/September. Summer wave sets are usually around December. Quote
Darth Caedus Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 There's no way LEGO would make sets based on a (likely) R-rated game. You guys are getting more and more desperate. Lego acquires LOTR and Hobbit license. Lego makes spectacular LOTR wave. Lego makes great Hobbit wave. Lego proceeds to screw up royally from there, ignoring key characters and oddly abandoning the crucial concept of the armybuilder after one Wave 1 set. They refuse to tell us if LOTR is alive or dead, making every day a living hell of limbo. Their choices for the final Hobbit wave leak and are utterly baffling (no army builder for the The Battle of Five Armies?!) Now for their SDCC debut they show off an overpriced set with weak minifigures and a weaker build, and the indication that the next biggest set in the wave will be packed with named characters almost exclusively. And there you have the recipe for a truly desperate fanbase. Quote
atreyu2112 Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) "probably won't be getting very many more" To me means a few more sets are coming. Like 1 wave. Like 3-5 sets. And as long as they address the key holes we've been bitching and moaning about getting over the last year, I will be a very happy fan. I don't want the LotR line to go one forever. I just want 5 sets: 1. Prologue ... Sauron (brick built like GotG Groot or X-men Sentinel), Elendil & Isildur NO STRUCTURES - $13 2. Treebeard Awakens (ala Shelob Attacks) Treebeard (brick built), Merry, Pippin & Grishnakh NO STRUCTURES - $25 3. The Balrog (brick built ala TMNT 79105 Robot Rampage), battle damaged Gandalf, Moria Orc Archer NO STRUCTURES - $30 4. Witch King Showdown with Witch King of Angmar, Fell Beast, Eowyn in armor, Merry in Armor, small wall or gate of Minas Tirith - $40 5. Osgiliath Over Run (ala Castle 70403 Dragon Mountain) with Faramir, 2x Gondor Soldiers, 3 horses, Gothmog, 2x Orcs, Ringwraith & Fell Beast, Osgiliath Ruins - $75 - - - - - As for my opinion on the price of the Smaug set ... Get over it!!! LOL. Seen the prices for the 2014 SDCC Lego exclusives? A stand alone mini-figure or mini-rig going for $250+ The cost of EVERYTHING has gone up. Have you bought cheese or meat lately? Gas? Been to the drive thru and it's like $10-15 just for your meal??? Smaug is BIG and has multiple unique molds. I'm pretty sure making him ate up most of the cost of this set. I'm not worried about a $130 set that gives us a badass Smaug - he will surely fetch at least half that alone on the secondary. I honestly don't see where Hobbit fans can get upset with what has been released OR the Smaug set. Nearly EVERY key scene in the Hobbit films to date has a nice representation in a Lego set. I am MORE than happy to have it all. Sure, they might not be quite perfect, but THE SAME CANNOT BE SAID OF LORD OF THE RINGS. Just my 2 cents ... not pointing fingers! May we all be blessed with 1 more key Lord of the Rings wave of excellent Lego sets! Edited July 26, 2014 by atreyu2112 Quote

General Magma Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Smaug's body and wing molds could be re-used for a Fell Beast, since those creatures only have wings and legs when it comes to limb features, just like Smaug. Quote
