BlueberryWaffles Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 They didn't even SHOW Denethor at all in the main story for the console game. (Though they had the whole burning part in the 3ds version ) Quote
Alcarin Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I really think people fearing no Gondorians is absurd. Gondor played such a major role in the films. There is no way that LEGO would just leave that goldmine of material untouched. Its not that we are worried for no Gondor soldiers... we are worried for the lack of effort on them (aka using silver neck protectors from Castle series instead of proper new molded helmets and so on and on) Quote
Dragonfire Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Well, they have made entirely new helmet molds for many of the other LOTR characters- Uruk-hai, Gimli, members of the Rohirrim, the Mouth of Sauron- when less accurate, but suitable helmets were available. I'd say they will make accurate Gondorian helmet molds because they'd sell better. Quote

legofreak86 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Somehow I get the feeling that isn't a moment TLG would like to emphasize in a toy. True! I laughed my head off when he did it in the film! Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 True! I laughed my head off when he did it in the film! Man, that was a terrible scene. He runs out of the tomb, past the White Tower, along that promontory and all to throw himself off that particular precipice whilst burning to a crisp. He seems to do it faster than Usain Bolt could, so I was surprised he didn't put the flames out at that speed. I think it's the scene I find the most annoying in the 3 films. Tolkien handled it pretty well, PJ not so much. But a Denethor figure would be great and it'd mean we'd get a grey version of Thorin's hair. Quote

Vindice Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 £20 set with sauron and a small pile of rocks with isildur and elrond would be awesome - like Shelob size from wave 1! The LOTR line won't fade away without theire being a set with Sauron in it. He is the principal evil in the whole saga and one of the most prominent characters in the Tolkien universe! If they can make a figure out of the Mouth of Sauron then nothing is too obscure. Saurons "few" minutes in the theatrical release are still a few minutes more than the mouth received. The Balrog scene is one of the major moments of the first film and is a license to print money, of course it will be made. Probably the same goes for Treebeard. TLG need to milk large beasts/vehicles and playsets so I would expect Grond at the Gates of Minas Tirith and a brickbuild Oliphaunt too. I would also expect a molded fellbeast with the Witch King and Eowyn/Merry too. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 My concern is the addition of the Ent in the Orthanc set, since it has a green viney beard..the box doesn't outright call him Treebeard, but it gives the impression that they were going for that. Like "here ya go, that should make them happy." Quote
LegoThomas Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) I just thought about an option to get a huge Minas Tirith... A set for the kings hall or upper part area and then a lego Minas Tirith creator set. Including instructions for different walls/houses. Plus the gate. And then an instruction for the final huge minas tirith. Just dreaming... Edited June 24, 2013 by LegoThomas Quote
deskp Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Would be ncie if they cold make a series of miniatures. Similar to the planet thing they do with star wars or the arcitecture line. One miniature and one minifigure. That way more obscure Minifigures could get made aswell! Quote
Flieger Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 This would be great indeed! Unfortunately I fear that Tolkien may not be big enough for such a line. Every kid wants a clone trooper, but what about a Gondorian? Also, the miniature might be tricky - a mini-Gondor? I am all for this idea but I am not sure if it works out... Quote

The miniatures would be buildings or structures made of bricks, the "planet" thing star wars does wouldnt be included. Quote
MrBrickson Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 It would have the Large Mount Doom with 6 Characters Frodo (Weary),Sam (Weary),Gollum,3 Mordor Orcs [1 Has armor,Uruk Sword and Shield] The Set: It Would have the Mount Doom the place were they fight gollum the inside of mount doom and breakable floor inside like in the movie. Stuff: The One Ring,3 Uruk Swords,1 Uruk Shield,1 Uruk Chest Plate,Sting,Sam's Frying Pan,Fish,2 Red Crystals,2 Blue Crystals and 1 Axe. Price: 149.99 $ Quote
Vindice Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Love the idea, just not too sure the line is well enough established yet to have something like that but who knows! I think Minas Tirith will be much like Hogwarts castle, 4 or so recognizable areas with a potential add on like they did with the smaller battle of hogwarts set. that way you get a decent model with playablity and probably something in the region of 12 minifigs or more. I would expect the four areas to be the Kings thone room, the tomb of Kings, a tower with beacon and maybe a courtyard with white tree. Figures would be Denethor, Faramir, 2 Gondorian soldiers, 2 Mordor Orcs, a battler troll?, and maybe an Easterling if we're incredibly lucky. The add on would be Grond at the gates with a nice section of wall that you could easily add to. Figures would include Gothmog, 2 orcs, 1 or 2 Gondorian soldier plus Gandalf the White) Quote
Vindice Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 While I think there is a possibility we may get something on Mount doom I don't think it will be anywhere close to that price tag unless they ever made it as part of a larger Barad dur playset. You could potentially have the tower with the eye, and an adjoining part of Mount Doom with the play feature you have described. If they did that it would be a pretty major set and I think you'd have to include Sauron, a fell beast with rider, Sam, Frodo, Gollum and an orc or two. Quote
Fives Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 A Balrog set is probably the number one set on most LOTR fans' wish lists. I was thinking about whether or not the Balrog would be best as a brick built creature, or as a molded creature like the T-Rex. Then I realized that a brick built version could have a light brick integrated into the spine of the creature, allowing for the flames on its back to glow menacingly. (Also, this post is kinda trying to revive this thread a little) Quote
Blakstone Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I think that only thing that LEGO LotR fans can agree on it Battle Packs. I personally would love some new army building molds such as Gondorian helmets. I think Gondor soldiers need printing on separate armor so it does not appear the same as the Uruk Hai armor. The Series 9 knight might work. Aside for that, I do want the Balrog, Treebeard, Eowyn v Witchking, old Theodon in the Golden Hall Meduseld. I think a white tree set showing the crowning of Aragorn would be nice too. Quote

Fives Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I don't think the eagles ever gets named in the movies. When Gandalf is whispering to the moth on top of Orthanc, apparently he says Gwahir. Quote
Deathleech Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) When Gandalf is whispering to the moth on top of Orthanc, apparently he says Gwahir. I believe he mouths it but doesn't actually say anything, as a sort of nod to the fact it is Gwaihir. Treebeard is specifically mentioned multiple times though. I don't see why Lego wouldn't say it is Treebeard if it is indeed suppose to be him. It would only add appeal to the Orthanc set (we get an exclusive Treebeard model instead of a common no named Ent). Naming the eagle as Gwaihir on the other hand wouldn't really add much appeal since I assume most casual fans have no idea who that even is. Edited July 12, 2013 by Deathleech Quote
Captain Settle Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I think the reason we got a common ent instead of treebeard is because if someone wants a double sided orthanc and buys 2, instead of knowing they have the same character twice, they can say they're 2 different ents ,while if you only buy one, you can say you have got a main character, by saying the ent is treebeard. Quote
deskp Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 People thinking the ent is Treebeard is doing the lego deisgner a huge disservice, it looks nothing like treebeard. Quote
