In fact, Hobbit 3 was at first meant to come out in July 2014. Maybe TLG decided to do a third hobbit wave in May, and then a final LotR wave in January/Late December, but now since they've pushed back the movie, tlg have had to move the third wave to a May/June release in 2015.... Right?..... right?

How good would it be to open up the last page of a Hobbit instruction booklet and see Faramir looking at Frodo. Under a large number showing '2015', only six words appear:

"The ring will go to Gondor."

Or it could simply be that after all the last minute changes coming from PeeJ and crew Lego just said "fluq it" it's a high problem lower yield license partner. Just swap the last LotR wave for a Hobbit and be done with the damn thing. And then go see if WB or Disney has anything juicy to replace it with. Preferably some thing that does not involve short hairy kiwi's with a tendency for last minute decision making.

I would probably do the same thing if there isn't an add too. Just more vehemently. We have to get a third wave! PLEASE LEGO!

I have followed you for years (beginning of the lotr sets). And i don't know why, but i think, TLC will build another sets from Lotr. My feeling maybe but TLC make the effort to create new minifig with new headgear: for example, thorin, in futur hobbit set, will carry a news headgear: crown with above a hairdressing (like johnny deep in lone ranger= lego).

Maybe a UCS set in 2015, i hope!

I personally think the line is done. BUT!

Five years ago, we we were sure we weren't getting this line at all. We did.

We were sure of what we would get when it was announced. Balrog, Witch King, etc. We were wrong again.

Now we're sure we won't get a third wave. Have we ever been right about this theme in the past?

Yeah. It's over. But a little optimism never hurt anyone.

@ Borador, however, we have hope because TLC didn't communicate about the end of the licence. We don't know when it finish!

During three years, we had had 28 sets from middle earth ( hobbit next sets include). It is huge !

Let's have a bit optimism that this franchise will still continue. There is a lot of iconic elements not released yet. I am hoping for the lego to release the nazgul dragons. It will be awesome!

I was optimistic, but now I´m starting to be more and more sceptic about the 3rd wave. But I still have the last hope - UCS Minas Tirith...it could cover all the important factions and characters (and one flying beast )that we are missing (the only exception is Balrog, or Treebeard for some AFOLs, but they are supposed to be brick-built, so we can start a contest who will make a better Balrog). Gondor soldiers, Faramir (+ Denethor), Witch King, Eowyn, Fellbeast...Merry and Pippin in their rohan and gondor outfits...that´s what we are waiting for. UCS Minas Tirith is not an army builder, of course. But as the last chance to get those figs and amazing city, this could be great finale of the Middle-Earth LEGO theme.

I imagine if Lego had made an Oliphant set it would be brick built, so technically we can make that ourselves. I can't see Lego doing a molded Oliphant because it wouldn't be very big, at least no where near as big as in the movies. It would probably be about Smaug's size at best. The Haradrim are also fairly easy to mock using existing pieces (PoP is great for this).

Regardless, an UCS Minas Tirith wouldn't do us much good if it doesn't have new molds. That means no Gondor Soldiers, Witch King, or Fel Beast (unless brick built, but that would be weird considering Smaug is a molded creature...). Personally I wish Lego would just give us ONE more $30-40 LotR set. They could easily include a Fel Beast, Witch King, Eowyn, 2 Gondor Soldiers, and 2 armored Mordor Orcs in it. If The Witch King had a black hood as well as his crown, and Eowyn had a Rohan helm this would be the PERFECT army builder AND final set to get all the main missing characters (except Faramir, but meh...). Give us a Gondor Soldier polybag and we are golden.

I dont mind brick built Oliphant, Chima version looks decent enough for skeleton start, but now give us correct colors and no trans stuff and add Eomer on horse, + 1 more Rohan soldier on horse then oliphant Commander + 2 archers and 1 haradrim on foot with shield and spear and newly molded helm.... would be perfect, oh and 1 of the 2 horses should be palomino style...... could not ask for more really :P

What if Faramir was one of the two Gondor Soldiers? Its not as ideal as getting him in his ranger costume, but it does cover two characters with one minifigure.

Replace Eomer with Faramir and that set sounds perfect.

Except that it makes the set totally out of logic (afterall Eomer was the one throwing spear on and killing the Oliphant, I would not mind.......

Faramirs most logical place to be would be 1. Osgilliath 2. Oliphant Ambush (but that removes any Rohirrim or Haradrim) 3. Forbidden Fountain (removes conflict) 4. Hall of Kings (Minas Tirith)

Now personally i (if possible) would then want him in option 1...... since if Oliphant has Rohirrim on horse + Eomer on Horse it would be way better to armybuild for the sake of Pelennor fields battle..... Haradrim Ambush while offering a nice Diorama layout would be (for me) less interesting.
