Yeah we all have sets we were mad to pass up at the time, to start with I was not even going to buy every set but then the second waves were smaller and one by one got them all on sale never thought that would be all we would get

Wow, weird feeling for me. With LOTR ending, mostly lackluster final hobbit wave and no sign of any castle on the horizon, I'm suddenly stuck with no Lego to buy for the foreseeable future.

I guess I'll focus on buying used bricks and building my own stuff. Way to drop the ball, TLG.

No Lego to buy? I came back to Lego for LOTR and stayed for Hobbit but I also bought tons of Star Wars sets and now I just bought Marvel Milano Spaceship Rescue. Lego still has lots to offer even without LOTR. I got tired of feeling like I didn't have options but with Star Wars there's much out there and great detailed prints and molds constantly.

That's great for you, but my Lego tastes are more finely focused. I'm as big a Star Wars can as you'll ever find, but that stops at a sizable Hasbro collection. I'm just not compelled to do Lego SW. I need castles, knights, wizards and monsters. :-)

I'm visiting my parents in the US right now and it was pretty sad to see the LEGO Store at Downtown Disney only had 1 LotR set. It was the Pirate Ship Ambush and it was on a top shelf with the sets laying sideways where you couldn't see the picture of the set. I know this particular store has a lot of foot traffic because of its location. I'll be checking out a different LEGO Store and see if they have more LotR sets out.

I would love a theme with Knights who are fighting various monsters. It could include a Manticore, Griffin, Dragon and maybe a Chimera. Either the knights are fighting/hunting these monsters or they could have 4 factions represented by their token monster. I think that a semi historical Castle theme with just some fantasy elements like historical medieval monsters would work brilliantly.

This is what I hope for after the end of LOTR.

I still cannot believe they would end the line without any Gondorian (other than Boromir and BG Aragorn - who looks great btw., and raised my hopes for more Gondorians). I know this is not Star Wars with even obscure characters receiving new moulds, but nonetheless....

I mean they have already created the crown of the Witch King for the Hobbit, which could be easily reused for the RotK Witch-King. In other words, a reprint would be enough to get the top evil commander.. (edit: actually needs new mould, too). Throwing in Eowyn without her helmet, a brick-build fellbeast and you have a fairly good showdown-set. Then a Gondorian soldier with new helmet mould and that is it about new moulds for a new wave. Two new moulds. The rest could be done via reprint (Roman shields for the Gondorians would be enough for me e.g.). That cannot be too much.

Of course I would wish for more new moulds, to create Gothmog or more accurately sized shields, but theoretically it could be done.

The Witch King's Death

- Witch King (new mould for the helmet)

- Eowyn with hair-piece

- Merry

- brick-build fellbeast

(- perhaps Theoden)

Siege of Minas Tirith

- Part of Minas Tirith's wall

- Orc catapult or siege tower

- 2x Gondorian soldier (new mould for helmet)

- 4x Orcs

Breaking of the Gate

- Minas Tirith's main gate (combines with wall-part from the Siege-set)

- Wolf's Head

- Gandalf the White

- Pippin in Gondor dress

- 2x Gondorian soldiers

- Denethor

- 4x Orcs

(- perhaps armoured Trolls)

Oliphant Battle

- brick-build Oliphant (or partially based on a moulded elephant)

- Haradrim driver

- Haradrim archer

- Rohan horseman

edit: I just noted the Witch King's helmet is totally different... doh! So forget about that Have not seen RotK in a long time...

Flieger, unfortunately the DG Witch King cannot be reused - the WK's hood and crown is completely different in every way.

I think any Minas Tirith version of UHA is a waste of time, honestly. Getting the lower wall and gate is just silly, it's not like we can have the rest of the city.

LOTR looks 99.99% dead at this point.

If we only got one single, simple D2C, the fandom would be best served with

$29.99 Osgiliath Escape:

-Faramir, mounted, armored, helmet (new rubber mold)

-1x Gondorian Warrior, with shield (Roman or classic Orc) and helmet

-3x Morgul Orc (standard orc hairpiece and/or new mohawk, new light green Orc skin color, like Gorbag, maybe make one have dark black skin, or the red-black Darth Maul style Orc we see attacking Minas Tirith)

-1x Witchking on brickbuilt Fellbeast (new rubber mold for WK helmet)

-Small Osgiliath archway or rubble

This is what I would call the "perfect set" insofar as it ticks the maximum number of boxes for the LOTR franchise in one set with minimal molds at the perfect pricepoint. Faramir, the Witch-King, and a perfect armybuilder to boot. Faramir is one headswap away from being a standard Gondorian, and the Witchking's helmet can be swapped for a standard black hood. I know Alcarin, myself, and countless other AFOLs would probably end up buying 9 of such a set to get 9 Fellbeasts, and an excellent quantity at the proper ratio of good-to-evil figures: Orcs will always outnumber Gondorians. It's also a super KFOL friendly set, with 2 important named characters, Faramir and the WK, the always cool flying fellbeast, and a good bunch of baddies for their heroes to mow down.

If they REALLY needed to cut costs even more, scrap the Witchking helmet mold and make him a normal Nazgul. I can live with that.

This is why I'm quite dismissive of any Minas Tirith focused sets - they just don't include the right figures that the fandom really needs.

^ That set sounds great for the most part, but its still missing one key character. Replace one of the three orcs with Eowyn and rename the set Battle for Gondor and it would be perfect.

But then it starts to lose a lot of it's army building/multi-purchase appeal when you get that many named characters in a set. Honestly, getting Eowyn isn't that important imo. She is super easy to create using existing Lego pieces. Just get a Rohan Soldier's body (or any number of other suitable medieval torsos), a flesh female head from another theme, and some blonde-ish hair and ta-da! You have Eowyn. Faramir isn't as easy to re-create since we are missing the Gondor and Itilian Ranger attire. The Witch King and Gondor Soldiers are near impossible. We need a new molded helm for the Wtich King and a new print and preferably helm for Gondor Soldiers.

I love Darth Caedus' suggestion. The only thing I would change would be to make it a $39.99 set and have a molded Fel Beast instead of brick built one. That way if the Fel Beast was molded it would match Smaug and many other molded Middle-Earth creatures, but I can understand why being brick built would significantly cut down on the cost and be more likely.

But Eowyn means that fig from videogame poster.. That helmet and armour makes her unique, as shieldmaiden of Rohan. I get your point and if there will be no more LOTR sets I will be forced to create her that way, but its a little bit cheasy, dont u thing? :)

Exactly this. Eowyn's armour is distinctive from the rest of the Rohirim and customizing her from existing parts just isn't the same as having an authentic minifigure of her. Throwing a random female head on Eomer or a Rohan Soldier's body just isn't going to cut it. Going by that mindset I might as well build my own Gondor soldiers using the silver helmet and armour pieces from Kingdoms/Fantasy Era, or make the Witch-King by putting the MOS's helm on a Ringwraith's body.

She deserves a proper figure just as much as the others.

So thats pretty much it...

Hobbit is complete, and thre is just weird tastge in my mouth when I take look at my LOTr colection...If I knew this earlier I will be focusing only on Rohan x Uruks conflict and dont waste my money on other sets because without Gondor and some Rohan and Mordor addiction this story with my lego cannot be complete.

Such a waste of potencial. Such ignorance. I will write to Lego Company in few days to get some explanation form them, honestly I dont expect any regular explanation, just sea of non-saying words about "how they apreciate me as a Fun but sadly..bla bla bla..and dont forget to fill small questionary to us as a feedback"... couple of bull shit.

Never the less, I spent my money on those last Hobbit sets, maybe this time I buy several of them LT and BOFA for sure. And then I will return to my dark ages.

My last investment into LOTR was Orthanc.. and that will be it as I can see...

I don't get why they did Orthanc over Minas Tirith or Barad-dur. Don't get me wrong, I think the Orthanc set is cool but I just think those other 2 sets could have given us more variety.

Right, but the point was to keep the set as cheap as possible for Lego to produce. If they are going to be limited on the new molds and prints that they can do, I would rather they skip Eowyn since she is probably the easiest to re-create with existing parts. I mean there are absolutely NO existing torsos that look like Gondor Soldiers, and really no helms that look like the Witch King or Gondorian helms. Sure you can get by with a black torso and legs and some silver Castle armor pieces for the Gondor Soldiers, but imo they look much less like they should than say Eowyn in some Rohan gear with a female face and existing hair. The Gondor soldiers have rounded helms that come to a point at the top with wings on the side, armor on their shoulders and arms, and chest plates that go almost down to their knees. We have nothing like this currently. Eowyn is just in rag tag armor so in my mind that's much easier to create than unified soldiers with certain costumes. Honestly I don't think I would even want her with a helm on because then it's harder to distinguish her from other grunts.

Of course it would be ideal to get Eowyn with a new helm and her exact outfit, but I just don't think it very likely.

Exactly this. I'm a longtime fan of Eowyn, easily my favorite female Tolkien character - but she doesn't fit into "one final set" properly. The idea I was putting forth there was something that hits as many main characters as possible and functions 100% as an armybuilder as well. So many of our complaints about LOTR boil down to: not enough Orcs, no Gondorians, no Witch-King, no Faramir, no Eowyn. You can't do 'em all in one set (include Eowyn and you damage the armybuilder functionality), but you can hit the first 4 perfectly. Especially since such a set would serve another purpose as a source of Orcs for the Battle of Five Armies - as the Hobbit line has only ever gotten those odd brown-orange Hunter Orcs. Morgul Orcs and Dol Guldur Orcs are essentially the same thing.

Honestly, the best place for Eowyn would ironically be in a set without the WK. Here's my outline for the "perfect" final LOTR wave 3 we'll never get.

$12.99 Second Age Battle

-2nd Age Elven Swordsman (new helmet)

-Numenorean (new helmet mold, reuse twice in next set)

-Mordor Orc (thinking grey color scheme with stitches on the face, like the one that snarls in the Prologue)

-small catapult or mini ballista

$19.99 Sauron Showdown

-Sauron (toy story woody style legs, big shoulder pads, big cape)

-Isildur with sword and helm

-Elendil with sword and helm

-Gil-galad with Elven spear (optional, depending on Lego's budget)

-Mordor rock structure, maybe a little lava

$29.99 Osgiliath Escape:

-Faramir, mounted, armored, helmet (new rubber mold)

-1x Gondorian Warrior, with shield (Roman or classic Orc) and helmet

-3x Morgul Orc (standard orc hairpiece and/or new mohawk, new light green Orc skin color, like Gorbag, maybe make one have dark black skin, or the red-black Darth Maul style Orc we see attacking Minas Tirith)

-1x Witchking on brickbuilt Fellbeast (new rubber mold for WK helmet)

-Small Osgiliath archway or monument

Detailed earlier, this is the 'perfect' armybuilder. Headswap and Hoodswap turn Faramir and WK into generic soldiers and nazgul respectively. I'd blow $300 on these in a heartbeat to get the 9 on their Fellbeasts and a huge army of Gondor and Orcs to boot.

$39.99 The Balrog

-big, badass, poseable, action-o-riffic Balrog

-battle-damaged Gandalf the Grey (torn robes and sooty face)

-2x Moria Goblin Archers if Lego could manage it. This is gravy.

$129.99 Mumakil Charge (or a bit lower, however much it needs to cost)

-Big Mumakil, like the Chima mammoth thing

-3x Haradrim Archers

-2x Easterlings w/ reskinned Roman shield and polearms

-1x Mumakil Driver

-Rohirrim Eowyn, armored with horse (if they want to make a new helm for her, fine)

-Rohirrim Merry, armored (helm very optional)

-Very, very optional inclusions: armored Olog-hai and/or Gamling on horseback.

This ticks all the boxes left in the fandom. Eowyn, WK, Faramir, check. Sauron, check. Prologue characters, done with a vengeance. Gondorians, diverse Orcs, Easterlings, Haradrim, even more Rohan of a sort, check. Balrog, check. Mumak, check.

Literally the only thing that doesn't fit is Treebeard. He's the lowest of the low in terms of priority because 1. could pretty easily be brickbuilt 2. guarantees a useless Merry/Pippin rehash 3. only new anything else is maybe a Grishnakh. And it wrecks the $20 or $30 slot. There's no world where Treebeard gets in a fantasy LOTR Wave 3 without shunting a far more crucial batch of characters/troops out of position. So he gets the axe (no pun intended).

Easterlings/Haradrim against one Shieldmaiden with Hobbit? Its a little bit wrong dont you thing? And 6 soldiers in set from one faction...I thing that if you wnt to dream and if you want to believe that your drema could become true, you should dream more realisticaly.

And I dont hing that the largest set of this possible wave will be kinda armybuilder with tuns of soldiers from the east...More likely it could be either Osgiliath or part of Minas Tirith or evene Meduseld or part of Edoras... There is also Cirith Ungol which is also a scary and really interesting Tower where you can put Sam and Frodo in orc garb, and Grisnakh as well.. Also you can enlarge that scenerio with existing Shelob attacks, so it will makes more sense in the existing storyline.

I ve seen really great Minas Tirtih in LDD, but I forgot the URL, that set was just mindblowing, and I can imagine that in bricks, as D2C for the almost same price as Ewok village.. never the less, there could be at least main gates with detailed gate and ram, and some figs which can depict the conflict... That could be 130 bucks flagship set.

To Fell Beast: brickbuilt? really? Once we had molded Smaug, molded wargs, new horses, eagles..and then you wanna brickbuilt Fell beast? That creature is almost same icon as Smaug to the Hobbit movie. Those drakes, are incredibly good in the scariest kind of the way. So I can imagine them molded as picture from videogame shows.

With the resto of the sets I agree, but maybe 4 could be enough. There is no way to get those 2nd age wariors, I wnat them as well but they are not important to the main story and plot.

So 1st set could be Mount Doom, woth Frodo Sam and Sauron (like before you can depict 2 scenes in one set... or Sauron, Elendil and Isildur.

2nd set will be armybuilding one with 4 good guys and 2 bad. So Faramir, Ranger of Ithililien and 2 gondor knights against 2 mordor orc with new prints (armour and those red sleaves...)

3rd set will contains Whitch King, Fell beast, Theoden wth hair and Snowmane with brown (scaled) barding, Eowyn, and Merry in rohan Attire.

4th set could be as I said before part of Minas Tirith with Gothmog, 2 orcs, 2 gondor Knights, Pippin in gondorian attire, possibly Denethor and or Gandalf the white. There could be maybe 1-2 minifigs more depends on the price and piece count etc...

So these are realistic dreams and now we have to hope that our screaming for them will be so loud that TLG will hear us :)

I thing that if you wnt to dream and if you want to believe that your drema could become true, you should dream more realisticaly.

Dream more realistically? Isn't that an oxymoron? Most of the sets we propose in a "dream wave" probably wouldn't get made anyways, no matter how realistic. Even if Lego was doing a third wave they have their own criteria they follow which is much different than what we usually expect in sets. We often put lots of soldiers in our dream sets, but Lego usually gives us very few good soldiers and lots of named characters (and some we don't even see coming). Case in point Legolas in the Bo5A set instead of Thranduil, and Bain in the Lake-town set instead of Bolg. I doubt anyone saw the Pirate ship Ambush set coming either, especially before say a Balrog or Minas Tirith set.

Personally, my "dream wave" would look something like this (since we know we won't be getting a third LotR wave now):

Gondor Army - $29.99

1x Faramir in Gondor attire (could double as a regular Gondor Soldier)

1x Gondor Soldier

1x Ithilian Ranger

3x Mordor Orcs all in armor

1x Mountain Troll

A white wall piece that can attach to the Witch King Showdown set to make it bigger

Balrog Encounter - $39.99

1x Gandalf the Gray

2x Moria Orcs with new helms

1x Boromir? (since we haven't gotten him in any other sets besides MoM, thought this would probably be Frodo realistically)

Big brick built Balrog and a decent sized bridge that you push a level and it explodes

Mumakil Stampede - $59.99

1x Haradrim Chieftain/driver

1x Haradrim Archer

2x Easterling

1x Rohan Soldier on horse

I would love a large molded Mumakil like in the video game and have the main building component of this set be the platform on it's back. If that doesn't work though, a brick built Mumakil would do. This set seems the second least likely in my line up due to it being a larger army builder basically

Witch King Showdown - $99.99

1x Witch King

1x Eowyn

1x Merry in Rohan attire

1x Pippin in Gondor Attire

1x Theoden with Shadowmane

1x Denethor

1x Gothmog

1x Armored Mordor Orc

1x molded Fel Beast

The front gates of Minas Tirith with maybe Grond. I would love to see this a full fledged Minas Tirith for around $250-300 and with more minifigures, but even for a dream wave that seems really unlikely.

Make Sauron a promo you get when you spend $50 or $75 at the Lego store on any LotR purchases since Lego totally missed their chance to give us an armored Sauron with their Dol Guldur Battle set. Of course my ultimate dream wave would just have four army builder sets all priced $12.99 and each include four minifigures from a faction. Along with these it would have a Witch King showdown with all the figures mentioned above plus Faramir.

Mordor Army

4x Mordor Orcs

Gondor Army

3x Gondor Soldiers

1x Ithilien Ranger

Rohan Army

3x Rohan Soldiers

1x Lothlorien Elves

Eastern Army

3x Haradrim

1x Easterling

I know that..by my words "dream more realisticaly" I ment that you should (or we should) stay on tha ground with our legs :)

There is not so much named characters to add in possible third wave. Sure, TLG can rehash some old one, like Boromir in armour, Galadriel, or main protagonist as Gandalf, Frodo, Sam and the rest of Fellowship... but excluding them, there is Eowyn, Whitch King, Faramir, Denethor, possibly Sauron, and evil cast like Gothmog, Grisnakh, Ugluk and thats pretty much it.

also there could be new Lurtz in armour with new hairpiece and bow, also there could be some other less characters like Gamlikg, Hama, Madril, Damrod ...etc.

What I want most is Rohan royal guard, armoured Eowyn with her unique Helmet, maybe Theoden in his kingly attire, Merry in rohan attire, Whitch King with Fell beast, and of course barding for Snowmane.

Gondor is also important but right now I want to have at least Saruman vs Rohan conflict complete with more varieti of characters involved in it. Then I can be ok with few gondor knights and Faramir...
