SirBlake Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Eowyn's helmet can be done quite well with the existing brickforge viking helmet in bronze... Needs hair to be Dernheln though. Quote
MAB Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Needs hair to be Dernheln though. A hairpiece, a dremel and some glue fix that. I use those helmets for half my Rohan warriors too, mixed in with the official one. Quote
SirBlake Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 A hairpiece, a dremel and some glue fix that. I hear ya, but that's quite a bit more customizing than most are willing/able to do. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Eowyn's helmet can be done quite well with the existing brickforge viking helmet in bronze... I got a couple of those, but it winds up covering so much of the face print! Most minifig mouths are obliterated by that noseguard. Quote
MAB Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I hear ya, but that's quite a bit more customizing than most are willing/able to do. For this one, it is not too bad. You just need a straight cut on a hairpiece. The Witch King is a very different story ... Quote
Black Numenorean Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 i love lord of the ring, i 'am in love when i see my minifig, i love the helm deep. I love lego when they decided to build lotr sets. But today, we need us to save our dream! Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Iam against that type of modification, like customizing existing pieces with cuts and so on. I take it as a violence against lego and thats why is this option out of the question, besides it will look horrible and meh. That helmet from brick forge is not bad at all but for regular soldier/rider, not for Eowyn. If there will be no Eowyn at all I will make her without helm, with blonde hair. Quote

That depends on who does the cutting. :-) I see it as how lego would have made the piece, if they made it. A combined helmet and hair piece, much like the Friends style horse rider ones. Of course, the alternative is to go without what you want and have her with hair and a separate helmet that cannot be worn without removing her hair. Quote
Bugbot2008 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I too prefer purist figures and would avoid customising (cutting/painting/) if I can. Eowyn swapped her hairpiece in the videogame so I'm happy doing the same with my custom. If a third party like those mentioned can make the missing parts I would hope they plan to make the following: Gondor helmet & shield Witch king helmet Sauron's helmet & shoulder pads Boromir's horn Moria orc helmet and shield Orcrist Alfred's hair/hat Orc helmets for Frodo and Sam Lurtz's bow Elf helmets etc All based off the video games as much as possible to keep in the visual cannon. It will all be pricy but what can we do :/ Quote
Deathleech Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I just want the helmets. Those are what really make the minifigures stand out the most and give them a distinct look. Weapons would be nice, but by no means are a high priority in my mind. Quote

Aura Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 The only figure I really would like is an armoured Sauron, but the Witch King would also be fantastic. Quote

Specific parts (such as Witch King's helmet) will sell far less, as people won't be making armies of them. Yet production costs for molds will be similar for both (probably more for Witch King, given the design). Quote

Indeed, I would hope some subsidisation takes place then or something, but since I would be buying only one and the rest of the witch-king for instance would be quite easy to reproduce I would be willing to pay a bit more ;) I forgot to also add Gothmog's head and Dwarf helmets for the hobbit. Do you think they would also make direct copies of the Rohan helmet and Dwalin's beard etc for army building? Those exist already granted but they are not exactly easy to stock up on. Quote

Hopefully now that lego's final range has been revealed they might comit to making some more to fill any gaps/ take advantage of the premature end. I wish Brickarms or Brick Forge would give us some stuff that looks similar to the Gondor armor and Witch King helm. They could make a KILLING if they did this. Then we could use existing Lego parts to make our own Gondor faction and Witch King fairly easily. Agreed Quote
Blakstone Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I don't think think I will ever go for a third party to get the helmets and weapons for my LEGOs. My hope is that the CMF line will come out with a Viking Chieftan helmet that is useful for a Ewoyn helm. But I acknowledge that the odds are slimmer than Bridge Forge giving a Gondor and Witch King helm. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I prefer Brickwarriors' aesthetics overall, tho I've got several BrickForge pieces including a couple Dwarf helmets & Dwarf beards. The helmets aren't great, style-wise, but still useful (my first GoH non-creature build features a dwarf sporting a BF Dwarf helmet... I like the steel/charcoal/whatever color better than their bronze, tho; the former looks more 'authentic Lego' than the latter, like Pearl Dark Grey). The beards are a little bland, but I'm glad to have a few in the mix. If BW tackled some, they'd probably offer up a little more detail in the sculpts, which would be great to see in a variety of colors (faster than Lego can turn out variations on the Hobbit's dwarf beards, anyway). If BW did their own dwarf helmets, too, I'd jump all over them. One item BF doesn't restock enough is the hatchet... it's a great little hand-axe for dwarves! I've got two 'pearl light grey' ones in the hand of a heroic dwarf, and two 'pearl dark grey' ones in the hands of one of my CMF Evil Dwarves. A nice change from the large-bladed Lego axes (I have other dwarves dual-wielding those, too, of course). A hornless Viking Chieftain helmet could be amazing... BF's Viking helmet covers too much of the face for something that seems like it's supposed to be so minimal, while BW's Viking helm is a little too fantastical (and has horn-holes). I think one of the companies can get away with a Witch King helmet with some minor changes... maybe having the main spike on the top be a separate piece for sale, and the helmet itself is only advertised with Lego plumes in the spot, while the spike is advertised being plugged into other helmets. Or maybe one of the companies is based out of China, where copyright laws are lax and it's more trouble than it's worth for WB/New Line/TLG to go after them (the 3rd Party Transformer industry thrives off that, and makes fans very, very happy--and very very broke!--by delivering stuff Hasbro/Takara cannot/will not...and for the most part Hasbro/Takara seem okay with that). There's definitely a market out there for a Witch King Lego-compatible helmet... if Lego won't deliver, why not a 3rd party? It's not a traditional 'army builder', but for MOCs and fantasy/post-apoc armies, the helmet could be really useful, even if it's immediately identifiable as "the Witch King". Quote
SMC Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) Why is brickwarriors ok but off band is evil, its lego or nothing for me. Anyway we are way off topic although sadly that's all we have. Edited September 5, 2014 by SMC Quote
goalieboy82 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 will there be a 3rd wave of LotR's Sets or will we have to wait until lego says there will not be anymore. kinda wish lego would have done this: http://thelordoftherings.us.lego.com/en-us/Gallery/Details/Default.aspx?projectid=ebf1e44d-d8b6-4aff-bc2b-bdacb8131f79 Quote

greenalfonzo Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 So who do we want to pick up the LOTR license after Lego gives it up next year? Which clone brick makes the best accessories that work with lego minifigs? Quote
atreyu2112 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I hate to say it, but getting Lego to put out a last LotR wave should be everyone's TOP priority as far as LotR collectibles are concerned. After their license is up, I GUARANTEE we will not see ANY official LotR merchandise (aside a Sideshow statue here or there) for a VERY VERY LONG TIME. Mark my words. So, post, repost, update, get your friends and anyone else to sign that petition. Quote
