Xcod119 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) I hope with all my heart that TLG can produce just one more wave of LOTR related sets, it feels like there are quite a few empty gaps that need filling, and most of the could be accomplished with just one more wave. Mazin Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Me too. I never give up hope but since they disappeared from the new catalogue I guess they will be retiring this year. Was there a single time when they've released something that was not in the catalogue? Quote
atreyu2112 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Sure... A few times sets just popped up. Orthanc being one of them. I finally got a 2nd Black Gate (for Xmas from the wife) & even... A Pirate Ship Ambush to complete my LotR collection. I now have every set and poly! Woohoo. I now hope there will be #onelastset ... or even #onelastwave to truly cap things off! Quote
MAB Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I wouldn't call Elves "Lego". Can't stand these dolls. Can't understand why couldn't they release Friends with normal minifigures. Without those new ones they would like just as new Paradisa It's because that is what the girls in their testing and research wanted. Remember the idea of friends is to bring in new customers - girls that were not playing with existing Lego. Quote
Mazin Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Ok, but still with those tests we might reach a day when a huge bunch of people will say that they want lego minigires to be 12 inches high or get fingers or something. This way Batman could end up as black person, and Superman get tatoos. Seriously there should be some barriers everywhere that shouldn't be crossed. Personally I hate when marketing and surveys gets into business, because a lot of time they bring wrong decisions. Quote
Faefrost Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Has Lego officially announced the end of the Harry Potter line yet? Or IJ or POTC or Toy Story. I cannot recall them ever officially announcing the end of a line. The only thing close is theme officially announcing that they would not renew the Shell contract. Lego did in fact announce that HP was ending. Largely because the license was expiring while they still had product on the shelves, because WB tossed an unexpected 8th movie onto the series. So it was widely and publicly known "buy the HP sets by Month's end because on the 1st they get pulled and can't be sold!" They have never said anything official regarding PoTC. As far as we know the license may still exist but be dormant until there is another movie. The same with Toy Story. They like most licenses simply faded from shelves. The only other license that I am aware that they have officially announced an end to was Spongebob, when Megabloks picked it up. Quote
Alcarin Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Yesterday i watched Return of the King and realised just how many things are missing especially Gondor wise...... its just unforgivable for LEGO to pick up a license and pretty much leave out the most important adversary of Mordor and Sauron........ Quote
Xcod119 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) I fully agree that Gondor needs to see some sets Edited December 30, 2014 by Xcod119 Quote

The ride never ends! I saw two Uruk-Hai army sets in my local toy store for 50 euros a piece, it's pricey but I'm still thinking if I should pick them up.. It feels like once they're gone the aftermarket prices gonna be massive, yet I already have 3 of them (plus extra figures) but on the OTHER HAND a single Rohan Soldier is more than 10 euro on bricklink.. What do you think? Quote
Blakstone Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I would by it. I have four Uruk Hai Army sets. I didn't bother to open the last one but I still have it if I need it. Of course, that set disappeared from around here well over a year ago. Quote
Wolvarie Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Got to get the other LOTR sets on ideas up to 10K as well. The Osgiliath set, the Lothlorien set and the Edoras set are all excellent ideas and worthy of being made into sets. If TLG sees that fans still want LOTR and Hobbit sets they would be stupid not to. BTW I have followed all of these sets on Ideas. As it stands Osgiliath 1147 supporters (311 days left), Lothlorien 5495 (181) and Edoras 3571 (116). Get on these sets, tell your friends and LOTR loving LEGO builders everywhere. The Edoras one is the one needing the most help, need some sites like thebrickblogger and the brothers brick to highlight them. I want it to continue as the present Castle line makes me want to barf. Sounds a very good idea The only problem is even if they reach 10K there is the opinion of the "committee" (I forgot the official designation ) and if they currently think it's not in their interest to produce more LOTR sets they won't approve them. However, like you said, it will show TLG how many fan are still interested in the theme and it can make them to reconsider their decision on the future on LOTR/The Hobbit sets. It's worth a try... After all, until there is a chance, there is hope Quote
Elrond Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Ok, but still with those tests we might reach a day when a huge bunch of people will say that they want lego minigires to be 12 inches high or get fingers or something. Well, this isn't the first time TLG produces a different type of minifigs for a particular demographic. Just look at the Jack Stone, Technic, Scala and even Duplo figs. It's really nothing new and I don't think the traditional minifigs are an endangered species for now. Edited January 3, 2015 by Elrond Quote
coolguy2323 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 The fact that TLG never anounces the end of a theme is what makes me nervous. It seems that middle earth is fading away. However, I can imagine the Elves theam coming in useful when mocing up places that TLG DIDN'T SO i guess that it isn't that bad if it goes away. This is Lego, after all. If TLG can't be bothered, then you can be! That could make a good catchphrase. Pun intended? :p Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Just have question...what will you suggest to obtain from LotR & Hoobbit line... My choose: Mines of Moria for around 90-100 bucks (still dont have it although I have all Fellowship characters) Uruk Hai Army for almost double original price have it 2x but I still need more uruks and Rohan) Battle of five armies set (dont like the building but the figs are most wanted for me) OR I realized that I quite like Lone Ranger set - Colby city, there are nice buildings and I really like this little cute scene with all accesory in it. But I dont have Western sets, I didnt colllect them and My dipslaqy has only Historic themes based on Middle earth, Pirates and Knights with castles. So any suggestions? (To be honest I have every single set form the theme, onl ymiss Smaug and Lonely mountain, Dale strucutre, Shelob, and Orc Forge AND MINES OF MORIA) Quote
Balbo Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) I would suggest buying the Battle of five armies set. Especially Thorin with crown and Dain II Ironfoot are very important characters and look very nice, altough Dain could be more accurate . Bard is an amazing figure and Azogs new facial expression looks fine, too. Due to the fact that the latest Hobbit wave isn't in the new Lego catalogue I would recommend buying the missing sets from that wave as soon as possible because they can run out very fast. Does anyone now, when the staff review of the Minas Tirtih sets begins? Edited January 4, 2015 by Balbo Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Do you think that these new sets from the third Hobbit wave vill be soon out of stock/retired? They are available since october, so its 3 months only. I dont know if they can wait cause for example MoM is already retired but now is hance to have it for decent price... I am not ready to make my decision its so hard :D Quote

Take a look at Bricklink, only a handful of stores sells sets from the 3rd wave, while those from the first two waves are still widely available. Quote
Bugbot2008 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Hi guys I just posted some of my custom purist LOTR figures for you to have a look at, I'm personally quite pleased with them but still wouldn't mind if LEGO made them superfluous with that ideas project we are all keeping an eye on http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=104200 Quote

I always envy those guys who have a plenty of historical figs or parts for moding, like you :) Especially like Denethors hair and face :) Quote
KristofBD Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) I agree especially Denethor is very well done. Whose face is it originally? Edited January 5, 2015 by KristofBD Quote

Especially the fact that the sets aren't in the new Lego catalogue and very hard to find (even online) is strange. Mines of Moria is a nice set and very rare so. Bugbot2008 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) I agree especially Denethor is very well done. Who's face is it originally? Magneto. Yes I am most pleased with how he looks :). I came across his head by chance at the LEGO Lost World exhibition in the UK last year (milestones museum in Basingstoke). It was one of the parts available to build your own figure from. They also had the green crown of the dead king and Oin's beard oddly enough along with other non-licensed parts Edited January 4, 2015 by Bugbot2008 Quote
cullmancreations Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 My local lego store still carries the new Hobbit line and the second wave of LOTR sets. Quote

I don't have so many views like those famous blogs/sites yet because my own blog is very new and I don't have the time required to post a lot and promote on social media like Twitter, Facebook etc, but I can "do my part" to give those project a little support Like Han Solo said "short help is better than no help at all" Quote
