Blakstone Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Welcome to the board and best of luck on reaching 10,000. Quote
BrickSev Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 The updates look great! Too bad the designer didn't put the updates as his main photo it probably would get a lot more support that way. I'm not very expert about how Lego Ideas site works but I thought you can't change the "main photo" of your project. I noticed nobody ever put updated photos in the project's main page, so I thought it was the site's design Quote
mrbean Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I'm the author of "the oliphaunt" project on lego ideas. I just came to say thanks to you guys... In fact I just changed the top last week, so I can't change the main photos =( Sorry about my english, I'm brazilian ;) If you can't update the main photo, maybe update the text telling people to check the updates for new photos. You've made a nice set, good luck. Quote

Thanks bro! but unfortunately I cant change anything from the description =( Once I first submitted it, I had never thought that I would want to change the project... I really think that with the new version, more supporters would appear. Anyway, if I do not reach the 10k supporters, I'll submit it again next year hahaha Welcome to the board and best of luck on reaching 10,000. hahaha Cheers bro! I want to ask you guys something... Do I need to improve the set? I mean change something on the oliphaunt, or on its top Because I think that will be to much information on it, and the price will be to much too. What do you recomend? Dr.Cogg Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 You guys, I just noticed something on the Ideas review video and hopefully its a good sign for Minis Tirith, if you stop the video at 1:32 and look on the shelf, it looks like the lower wall to Minis Tirith. Quote

Blakstone Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Good eye. By making it into the Review phase, the Minas Tirith project is forcing LEGO to have further conversations about Lord of the Rings. I doubt it will be green light; however, if we ever get another LotR set, I would still give Bycougars (NujuMetru) credit for it. LEGO has decided that D2C Simpsons line is doable. I would hope they would consider a D2C Lord of the Rings line as well. Quote
Blakstone Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Direct to Consumer. These are the very large sets that normally are only available at The LEGO Store or Shop@Home. Think of the extremely large Star Wars, Simpsons, or the modular sets. Quote
Bugbot2008 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Good eye! I can't see how it is anything else, so we now know for sure that at least someone has been having a play at making it. Also The wall is too long to be just a 'front gate' display so it looks like they have in mind to do the full city :D I expect those shelves were covered in models before the camra came along to make the publicity shots, I wonder what else was there... Quote
SMC Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hang on first are we sure that's what it is. If it is I don't see them even bothering even trying to make it unless you know they are planning to make it. Although they could have been planning to do it before the line boomed so bad, we have seen things like this that have both been made into set and thing that are never seen. Quote
atreyu2112 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) I doubt it will be green light 3 of the sets up for the same review definitely won't be made... Avengers Helicarrier (they have their own coming very soon), Jurassic Park (Jurassic World theme coming), UCS AT-AT (they just released an AT-AT, they also *just* released the UCS Slave 1 & have already announced the other SW UCS for this year). Internally, LotR is still loved dearly & externally, here we all are still wanting & talking about it. If one more LotR set is ever going to happen, this is it and the time is now. It covers most of what all the fans have been wanting character-wise and would be a KILLER way to end the theme. After the final Hobbit Extended Edition is released late this year, there will be nothing else to really help sales move along in the general public's eye. ps... Don't get me wrong, I'd be ALL OVER a D2C line! I still want a Balrog & a proper Treebeard just to name a few. Hang on first are we sure that's what it is. If it is I don't see them even bothering even trying to make it unless you know they are planning to make it. Although they could have been planning to do it before the line boomed so bad, we have seen things like this that have both been made into set and thing that are never seen. This is from the Ideas video they *just* released for the current review. It's from 2015! And I am 100% certain that is the lower ring of Minas Tirith. It looks like they even modded it to be a brick or 2 shorter than NujuMetru's original project. pps... Go to my photobucket page in which you can even make the image bigger at a decent resolution. CLEARLY, this is the outter wall of Minas Tirith! http://s172.photobuc...e.jpg1.jpg.html Edited February 5, 2015 by atreyu2112 Quote
BrickSev Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 He's RIGHT! Just to the right of the lady. There are many sets that have been seen in those videos but that we know they will never be produced. There are a lot of Star Wars sets that can be seen in the recent Lego Ideas video like a Yavin Temple, a UCS Probe Droid and even what looks a Trade Federation Battleship. I read several of those sets have been seen before but never made into sets. I think they are the "test models" the team build before they decide if they can be made into "mass production". From a collector point of view they are priceless. One of a kind items Quote
Blakstone Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 BrickSev, I think we all agree with that. It is exciting to see that they are actually doing the test model for ByCougar's project. It means that they are considering it. It seems that some people think LEGO would simply reject it without pursuing the idea for a while. Quote

Of course it's exciting I was trying to not rely too much on hope lol. I think, but this is just my personal opinion, they do build many of those ideas projects. The fact most of them didn't make into "mass production" sets makes that room we saw a "collector heaven" One of a kind lego sets, made by Lego itself! Wow! They are truly priceless Quote

Woah! I didn't realize this...That's so good for the set! Rivendell Rivendell RivenDELL sorry, not trying to be a grammar nazi but I just keep seeing this mistake and it bugs me. It's never been Rivendale; I think some people just don't realize that. Thank you. Woah! I didn't realize this...That's so good for the set! *EDIT* The AT-AT is from THIS review. So that's only two out of nine not competing with the citadel, and three out of those nine that aren't something to worry about. (The third is Minas Tirith itself.) Thank you. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hopefully the Orthanc, sells show TLG that D2C LotR sets sell. Quote
Bobbtom Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) If that piano wins I am going to doubt the competency of the selection team for Lego Ideas. Edited February 6, 2015 by Bobbtom Quote
Borador Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I said I'd not be back unless provoked, but um- well, that Minas Tirith is rather, hm, provoking. I wouldn't get too excitied, but I'd also not discount it entirely. I certainly can't think of anything else that might be. Yet I can't help thinking that this has happened before- didn't we see a Lothlorien set in the background of one of the designer room photos before? That never came out- unless it is scheduled for relase along with Minas Tirith, which I do NOT expcect. Certainly, this must be a Bigfoot sighting. I'm having a hard time believing that this theme is really coming back. Yet I cannot help but hope. Quote

Ardelon Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I guess Lord of the Rings is dead. It looks like the Necromancer has worked his dark magic! But my opinion is that the MT outer wall is just a pet project of some LEGO designer, or at best a very preliminary attempt at seeing if and how NujuMetrus MT can work. Nothing to fuel any hope, really. Quote
