tom20arc Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Do you think we will ever get a 3rd wave of lotr sets? With the Minas Tirith set from lego ideas that reached 10k followers as flagship? Some other cool sets included in this wave could be the balrog, Battle of Osgiliath (with faramir, one of my favorite characters), Lothlorien set, The Golden Hall of Edoras, The Prancing Pony Inn, The dead marshes and some battle packs with gondor soldiers, rohan riders, elves, ghost army and orcs of course Edited May 17, 2015 by tom20arc Quote

LOTR only needs a couple of sets to complete its collection of important parts..... Gondor soldier, Balrog Faramir, Eowyn, Witch King and possibly Haradrim, Easterlings, Denethor...... You can get all important ones with Oliphont set, Witch King set, Gondor army building wall set and Balrog set..... so 4 sets really, and we get 90% coverage of Middle Earth, in terms of important parts..... The main problem is nearly all of these sets can fight each other for price point, since all 4 should be in range of 40-80$ to look okish or decent. so no flagship set and nothing small for 15$..... tom20arc Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Also which set should I get? Helms Deep or Tower of Orthanc? Quote
J bij de W Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I would suggest to get both But if you only have money for one set at the momet, buy Helms Deep w as the price is increasing every week. Orthanc is still avaiable for the Original price at several shops Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 To every people who is asking if we are getting more LOTR sets. Answer is NO. Quote
SMC Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 ^ I think you mean very unlikely, or yes if you count dimensions. Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 In the latest Dimensions trailer we actually get a glimpse of Sauron. :) Hope is the last thing that leaves man Quote
Balbo Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the picture Getting Sauron would be amazing, he really would be a great character for a Funpack. The Sauron from the trailer would require 3 new molds, which is quite a lot, though... Edited May 20, 2015 by Balbo Quote
mike_mcbam Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) In the latest Dimensions trailer we actually get a glimpse of Sauron. :) Hope is the last thing that leaves man There's also a brick built oliphaunt and balrog, which is fun, but both would be far too big for the physical counterpart to be included in a dimensions pack. Sauron though, who knows... Edit: If you want a look for yourself, the trailer's here and you can see the balrog at 2:08 & 2:17 and the oliphaunt at 2:14 Edited May 20, 2015 by mike_mcbam Quote
Deathleech Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 In the latest Dimensions trailer we actually get a glimpse of Sauron. :) Hope is the last thing that leaves man I would LOVE a Sauron Fun Pack. I actually would prefer him over Eowyn since he would require a new mold or three. Eowyn is fairly easy to create yourself using existing pieces. There's also a brick built oliphaunt and balrog The olpihant is mostly molded pieces, not brick built. Does the Balrog in the Dimensions game look different than it did in the LotR video game? Quote

Does the Balrog in the Dimensions game look different than it did in the LotR video game? Yeah, but she wouldn't look right next to the other characters, without her own prints. Ideally, we'd get a team pack with Eowyn and Faramir, then a level pack with the Witch-King, and a fun pack with Sauron. Elindil and Isildur would also be nice, but our chances of getting them are pretty slim. I didn't notice any differences. It looks pretty similar. Same with the Oliphant. TT probably just recycled them from the LotR game. Quote

Based on this picture, I think Eomer's torso/legs could work for her along with this head and this hair in blonde. That's pretty darn accurate looking? I am sure there are better torsos too, I just am not familiar with a ton of them and threw this together quickly. I didn't notice any differences. It looks pretty similar. Same with the Oliphant. I just remember seeing the image below a lot and it looks fairly different from the Balrog in the Dimensions trailer? Quote

The head and legs would be acceptable, it's the torso that needs a new print. Her armor is very distinctive, and requires its own print, in my humble opinion. Eomer's torso wouldn't work, because his armor is also distinctive, and it would look weird for them to be identical. As for the Balrog, here is a picture. I think the differences are mostly because of the lighting. In the shot from the trailer, his internal glow is much brighter. http://s13.postimg.o..._5_20_53_PM.jpg Edited May 20, 2015 by Ql97 Quote

Man I still cannot believe we did never get this exactl version of Balrog as a 30-40$$ set with Gandalf, Moria Orc and maybe Boromir............ This would be such a best seller! Id buy some just to make them into statues :P Quote
SMC Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Yep I thought it would be the very first thing they would make. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Perhaps thei will release it in a bigger Dimension set.. If it sells like hot cakes... Quote
atreyu2112 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 The Balrog simply MUST be released as a set. It blows my mind that TLG had yet to release it. Most likely, it would be among the best selling LotR sets. Quote
wesker Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 That Sauron minifigure looks pretty cool. I really hope we do see some new LOTR stuff released via Dimensions. Would be nice to get a team pack consisting of Eowyn/Witch-King and Faramir/Gondor Soldier. Quote
General Magma Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Hopefully, the Minas Tirith IDEAS set will pass the review successfully. We should know more in the next few days. In the meantime, is there anybody out there who happens to know more about Brickforge's plan to create custom LOTR items, such as helmets and other items? Something like this was said a long time ago, but I haven't heard anything more about it ever since. I'm gonna need some different orc helmets and Second Age equipment, if anything. Quote

I don't know but I heard that they were still waiting for the official end of the theme. But Dimensions might change that... Quote
Flieger Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 This may be a stupid question... but does Lego ever announce the death of a line? I mean I love the Tolkien-stuff, it brought me back to Lego after all and I hope for more, but it is heartbreaking to wait for more sets that never come - while Lego teases us with CGI characters... So couldn't they just say it is over, instead of keeping me on the edge? Quote
Robert_88 Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Sorry, official wasn't the right word. But at the moment there is still a LotR set in the stores so it is still "officially alive". ;) And you never know what Lego plans. NEVER! :D Quote
BrickJagger Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 But at the moment there is still a LotR set in the stores so it is still "officially alive". ;) And you never know what Lego plans. NEVER! :D So, since there was a Fantasy Era set in stores as late as last year (MMV) did that mean that Fantasy Era was still alive then? Quote
Robert_88 Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 So, since there was a Fantasy Era set in stores as late as last year (MMV) did that mean that Fantasy Era was still alive then? Sounds strange but officially yes. Or do you mean that a theme is officially dead when TLG still sells sets from this theme? I can't recall the exact words but they basically meant that they won't produce LotR custom parts as long as it is unsure what TLG does with the theme. Most people probably wouldn't buy custom Gondor helmets or Witch King helmets when there is a version from TLG on the market... Quote
