Almaras22 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Why Eomer? We already got him. Us army-builders have tons. I would rather see another Gondorian or a Citadel Guard. Speaking of them, I bet we'd get 4 of them instead of 2 and 2 Rohirrim. And Aragorn should be normal. I agree with the more Gondor over Rohirrim, but I would leave Aragorn in Gondor so that he can also be used for the coronation at the end, allows for more play features/scenes that can be re-enacted that way, but that Minas Tirith sounds fantastic and realistic! I would be quite satisfied if something like this was released. I think the blacksmith/armoury is essential, but rather than a pub I could see Lego going more for soldiers quarters, with some beds and a table or two with food and drink, or perhaps a throne room or Orthanc-esque trophy room? Quote
Deathleech Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 That's waaaay to many good guys being rehashed for a Minas Tirtih set. Definitely nix Aragorn and Eomer imo, as well as one (or both?) Rohan Soldiers. Add a few more Orcs and Fountain Guards instead. Other than that it looks pretty good. I do have one question. People keep saying if Lego does 3 separate Minas Tirith sets that combine then that leaves less room in the (final?) wave for other scenes and sets. Don't you think a single huge $200-300 Minas Tirith is going to cut into other set production too though? It's not like they have 5 sets they can make and the price point of each is irrelevant. Just look at Orthanc, it took three designers to create and the second wave was really small, most likely because of this? Plus going the one huge set route doesn't leave options for people to pick up one or two sets and skip one or two, they can't pick or choose. It's all or nothing and I assume you lose out on a lot of sales (especially among children I imagine) that can't afford a $300 set. Quote
Lego Spy Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I agree with Deathleech, the chance we'll get another Orthanc-esque sized set for... Possibly the rest of the LotR line seems really farfetched. I see a new Minas Tirith set being somewhere in the $100-$130 range rather than $200-$300. -Lego Spy Quote
Darth Punk Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I agree lego spy that the price is going to be around $100.. I think the Minas tirith will look like it does in the lego game at the end. Lego will have some small set to add to it for the battle and perhaps a small set with the elephants. If they are going to do a big set at the end I would suspect it will focus on mount doom and that area of middle earth. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I wouldn't bother putting any Rohirim in a Gondor set. We get enough assorted Rohirrim characters from existing sets to stage the battle should we choose. Just an armored Faramir some Gondor soldiers, a horse, Pippin in Gondor garb. Gandalf the White, Denethor, Gothmog with a few orcs and a troll would get the scene across nicely. It could then be enhanced with a smaller Eowyn vs the Witch King set with Eowyn, Rohan garb Merry, Theoden and the Witch King and mount. Quote
Alcarin Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I agree with Deathleech, the chance we'll get another Orthanc-esque sized set for... Possibly the rest of the LotR line seems really farfetched. Rather then do the white Tower + great hall of kings and white tree with 2 Gondor Guards, Pipping, Denethor Gandalf The 1st level of wall with gates, Grond (battering ram) with 2 gondor soldiers 1 troll + 1 orc (or 3 orcs and no troll) and gothmog (maybe Gandalf) So you have a 130$(around 1500 pieces) set and 80-100$(around 1000 pieces) set Way better than a lame 130$ total Minas Tirith imo... Quote
Lego Spy Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) @ Alcarin That would be really nice. I guess it's Lego's decision whether to be comical or practical. It's what Lego has done in the past that leads me more towards us seeing a $130 set, even though I would prefer two seperate sets as well. Edited August 21, 2013 by Lego Spy Quote
deskp Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Anyone else tired of the Minas tirith talk? Everythings been said and suggested multiple times already. Quote
Deathleech Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I wouldn't mind seeing a large-ish $160 Minas Tirith and then a $30 army builder add on like the Uruk-hai Army set. The Minas Tirith/Gondor version could have one curved wall section, a trebuchet, and come with 4 orcs (or 2-3 and a Mountain Troll) and 2-3 Gondor Soldiers. This way you could really expand the levels of Minas Tirith out more if the main set was just the middle of each city level such as the gates and top courtyard with white tree. 4-6 Mordor Orc/Gondor Soldier Army builder sets would be all you really need I imagine to make the set look big. That's $160 for the main set and then another 120-160 for the army builders putting the total at $320... Right where most feel a USC Minas Tirith should be at. Quote
Mahtion Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Anyone else tired of the Minas tirith talk? Everythings been said and suggested multiple times already. Yeah I am to a point. On one hand the set is iconc and embodies a great deal of Lord of the Rings, on the other it is a logistics and ecomonical problem for Lego group. I am fascinated by what Lego could accomplish in making the set(s) but personally I would love a $150 Rivendell or Elvenkings Hall set. Quote
Darth Caedus Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Yeah, I honestly can live without a Minas Tirith. I just want to armybuild Gondorians. Quote

No,stop it. Now. NO MORE "if its this small ill hate it they have to please ME GIMME A $2000000 set NAOW." Really. This is a tired argument. You are beating a dead horse that has been resurrected and died three times with a chainsaw. Please. No more Minas Tirith. Quote
SMC Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Does anyone think that lego has waited to see how well the line has done and how well orthanc has done and that we will get a big £200 - £300 Minas Tirith if they have done well. They must have faith in the line to give us orthanc and it does look like lego are happy to put out more big sets now so they must be doing well too. Quote
Leo604 Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Alcarin, please just give it a rest about your dream Minas Tirith set. Like Deskp and everyone else said you've been saying the same thing repeatedly about it has to be this many pieces or this expensive otherwise it'll be lame. Frankly we all already know what your expectations are, and it'd be nice if you could stop being so stubbornly open about it. Quote
Nirvana5 Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 To end the Minas Tirith discussion we all want a set like Tiefighters Rivendell http://www.swebrick....hp?topic=5573.0 So might as well start building :-) Quote
Blakstone Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 To end the Minas Tirith discussion we all want a set like Tiefighters Rivendell http://www.swebrick....hp?topic=5573.0 So might as well start building :-) Actually, I don't. If Tiefighter just spent $1,000 on a LEGO set and followed the instructions, it would not be a major accomplishment. It would not be art. It would be just a product that they could afford. Speaking for myself only, I want sets that capture the feel but don't have to be the right scale. With enough brick and time, each of us could build the most fascinating Rivendale or Minas Tirith. We can marvel on the difficult building techniques used. When I see that someone build Palace Theatre or the Death Star, I wish I had those bricks. But when I see MOCs like this, I wish I could build my own massive MOCs. Quote
Elander Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 We need definitely more warrior variations. More different orc faces, colors, helmets, armors…. Noldor warriors from the Last Alliance/ (old) Gondor warriors from the Last Alliance…. Lothlorien warriors “with helmets / and blue hoods” More different Rohan soldiers (more different torsos, helmets, faces….) We need more armies! Ithilien Rangers vs. Haradrim Easterlings, Gondor Soldiers (incl. cavalry), brickbuilt Ent battle packs and Nazguls with big flying beasts (original size // no mini size as like the mini eagle…), Isengard warg rider and the different original orc races!! We want and we need armies armies armies… We don’t want and don’t need armies of Aragorns, Fordos, Gimlis, Gandalfs… Why I have more Gandalfs as Moria orcs or Rohan soldiers? That makes no sense! Why I have only Haldir? Where is his army? Oh no, come on. LEGO LotR makes no fun without REAL armies…. Quote
Lynx Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 We need more armies! Agreed! And at a larger quantity, please. Assembling a Rohan army is difficult enough with just one common soldier ever released in a relatively cheap set. Try building the army of the dead! And yes, Ithilien Rangers vs. Haradrim would make an excellent set! Quote
Lego Spy Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Anyone else tired of the Minas tirith talk? Everythings been said and suggested multiple times already. Thank you! Anyway, all I'd want is a Mûmakil (Oliphaunt). Quote
wesker Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 A Mumakil is definitely at the top of my list. I'd be happy if Lego went with a brick built approach with only the head being molded. Edoras is probably my most wanted location at this point. I can see Lego doing something with Gondor in the future, but there's no guarentee they will ever revisit Rohan. Quote
Infernum Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Hmm, There's so many possibilities! It's hard to pick just a few! But I'd definitely love Edoras... And anything that includes Easterlings... I will be so mad if that beautiful fig never sees the light of brick! Quote
Lynx Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Anyone else tired of the Minas tirith talk? Everythings been said and suggested multiple times already. We could just stop posting in this thread entirely, since everything has been said and suggested multiple times. I think a great part of being a member of this community is sharing the excitement for upcoming sets, enthusiasm for wishes and support each other in that regard. I am aware that Alcarin keeps repeating himself, but who are we to deny him voicing his opinion? He is not exactly causing inconveniences for anybody by e.g. having a massive signature or repeatedly posting pictures that cause slow loading times for anybody using handheld devices. There is always the option to ignore his posts if you have read it before, but let's not forget that we might welcome new members over the course of the next year. I suggest we make this forum as welcoming as possible by allowing each member to contribute in her/ his own way, as long as this is respectful. A Mumakil is definitely at the top of my list. wesker Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Already supported both Edoras and Minas Tirith. NujuMetru's designs would be perfect as official sets. Quote
Blakstone Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I just supported the Edoras set. It really captures the feel of the town without having to be to scale. My apologizes to Gondor fans but I would rather have Edoras than Minas Tirith. That said I figure it would be a $50 set leaving room for a slightly larger (though smaller than Orthanc) Minas Tirith. Quote
Str0ngbad Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Assuming only one more wave, which I think is reasonable though sad, I honestly don't need an Edoras OR a proper/complete Minas Tirith. Don't get me wrong, Edoras would make a great set, but I have enough of Rohan to make me happy, assuming that we get Eowyn and all that I care tremendously about in Minas Tirith is the courtyard. The gate could make a good set though strangely I'd be okay without it and a section of the walls could be included easily enough in an Eowyn/witchking set if need be. That said, I think we'll get at least two sets with parts of the city. I just don't want to see all of our last remaining wave go to Minas Tirith ,Rohan and creatures (Oliphant, Bal-rog, Treebeard) when there are things like Lothlorien and the prologue left undone.
