Darth Caedus Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Mentioned this over in the CMF thread but it was worth reiterating here. The new Sinister Knight for CMF s15 is a godsend for Middle-earth fans. Lose the morningstar, shield, and head/helmet - the torso and legs are surprisingly perfect for a missing armybuilder. Green/darkgreen tunic? Yep. Full-body chainmail? Yep. Large, loop-tied brown belt? Yep. That's a Rohirric outfit if I ever saw one. I'll definitely be picking up half a dozen or more of these to convert to Men of the Riddermark. Substitute any bearded fleshie head with scraggly hair or basic helmet/hood, give him a crappy spear/hand-axe, and that's a Rohirrim Infantryman ready for battle. Quote
KristofBD Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Good point. The printing on the scary knight is excellent and usable indeed! Quote
General Magma Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Indeed, cool idea - are there any close-up pictures of it yet? Quote
Ql97 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Well. I've read my first review of a NK set, and let's just say it met my expectations. http://brickset.com/article/18001/Review-30372-Robin-s-Mini-Fortrex The most noteworthy aspect of this set is the hair piece. This is the first time it hasn't appeared in blonde. While still not perfect, I think it will look much better on Bain than the "mop head" provided by Lego. Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Give him some fleshia hands and face and maybe a cloak and he'll be a nice addition to the Rohirrim! Quote
Trunkbass Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 LEGO just released official images of the new Ninjago sets, and the 70605 contains a sort of ponytail that I've never seen before. I'm wondering if that will make for a more accurate Lurtz, as I think his ponytail hairstyle adds to his distinctive look as compared to other Uruks. You can see his haircut here: And the Ninjago set here: What do you think? Quote
TheBear Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Good thought, but I think the hunter orc hair from 79016 is already better than that for Lurtz, although neither are perfect. Incidentally, it is really annoying that they left it right until the end to release that hairpiece, so it is rare and expensive. Quote
sahidko Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I'm not sure if this is the right place for it, but does anyone remember the nice custom Isildur and Elendil helmet prototypes posted about a year ago on classic castle? The users bricklink doesn't have these, or the Gondorian helmets available. Were they ever sold, does anyone know? Is this a good place to discuss good third party accessories? Anyone found anything good to share? :) Isildur & Elendil helmets remained prototypes only. I bought +-15 of the Gordon helmets so if he doesn't offer them anymore they are sold out. Just checked his bricklink shop again and looks like i was wrong. Updated version + Isildur's & Elendil's helmets are now available in limited quantities. Quote
Lord_Tyrannus Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Please, can you post the link to his Brcklink Shop? Thank you! Quote

sahidko Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Just found out that Rakrondewl published LDD files to his LOTR Lego Ideas creations if anybody is interested: http://www.us.lego.com/en-us/gallery/eb963081-87f1-4b55-9d37-846e7325061a?index=2 I am actually thinking about building the Minas Tirith one. Thanks for the link that is super helpful! I'm gonna see how much of it I can build too! Has anyone heard of seen any of Nujumetru's instructions?? I love his Edoras build, and it is seemingly really duable if you have other middle earth sets with tan pieces like Battle of Five Armies and Barrel Escape. For some reason I couldn't get the image to import of Nujumetru's Edoras but I'm sure you are all familiar with it? Quote
builderbrad Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) Fellow Lego LOTR fans, I went ahead and built Nuju Metru's Edoras in LDD. It is extremely close to the original and almost an exact match. I can upload it to this forum if that would be something you would be interested in. I asked NujuMetru and he said it was fine if I distribute the LDD file. I doubled the side section of the building from the original so that all the walls are closed off, giving the model a sense of completeness. I would guess that this is how the original build was intended to be but that Nuju cut it to conserve pieces for Lego Ideas. I did not build the seperate hut, because I'm mainly concerned with the Edoras hall itself. All together the build is 665 pieces, which is very doable for AFOLS and other Lego LOTR fans. Interesting, I guess he doesn't mind if other people recreate his designs for themselves? From his pictures I built myself Cirith Ungol already, making a few modifications on the way to make the gate work in real life etc, I might post pics on here but I'll give him due credit nonetheless. thmy Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I want to have balrog in my collection. Anyone have a suggestion or idea on which is the best Bionicle set to get to MOC? Quote
Vorkosigan Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I don't know about Bionicle, but Infernox from Nexo Knights is a pretty good approximation of a Balrog: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Infernox-captures-the-Queen-70325 Quote
Ardelon Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Anyone think Flama or Moltor could be useful for a flaming Sauron from the Hobbit? Quote
Seaber Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I was thinking of using some of the Nexo stuff for the Balrog, as well as using the game version and Rakrondewl's as a guide. Also, the King's sword would make a great Dwarf sword for Thorin/Kili/Fili/Dori: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/The-King-s-Mech-70327?fromListing=listing Quote
thmy Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Thanks for the suggestion. The set look quite nice for Balrog. Have to find some other part to adjust some to make it look more alike. Quote
