Str0ngbad Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 How are they going to do that? Invisibility spray? I don't think we'll ever see an "invisible" minifigure... it *is* supposed to be invisible, after all. Other than that, pretty good ideas, but why just a large stone in a goblin battle pack? I highly doubt they'd do it but a trans or trans lt blue figure would be sweet. Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 My ideal set for The Fall of the Necromancer set would be; A large brick-built Dol Guldur consisting of the main tower plus a few ruins. Minifigs: Gandalf the Grey, Saruman the White, Radagast the Brown, Galadriel Lady of Light, Celeborn Lord of Lothlorien, Glorfindel Lord of the West, Elrond Master of Rivendel, Cirdan of the Havens, Sauron the Necromancer, Khamul the Easterling darnnit!!! (stupid usurper Witch King!), 1x Castellan of Dol Guldur, 2x Orcs. Total pieces: 2000+ (go big or go home I say!) Price point: $200(CAN) Granted, Lego would likely not be allowed to include poor Glorfindel, Celeborn, Cirdan or a Castellan since PJ has left them out of the mix in the films... But hey, a girl can dream right?! Quote

Both Cirdan and Celeborn are in the LOTR movies albeit with tiny roles (I don't think Cirdan even made the credits and Jackson didn't make him old or give him a beard  ) just not in the Hobbit. I'm trying to learn to customize figs to fill in the gaps LEGO is going to leave. Quote

Brickington Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Do we have any pics of orthanc tower, besides the blurry one? Quote
greeny Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 If we are going to get a wave of sets for 'There and back again' I would like to see: Orc and Goblin battle pack: 2x Orc 2x Goblins, a Warg and some rocks Elf and Men battle pack: 2x Elven warriors, 2x Men of Dale, a horse and a catapult The Battle of the five armies: Bilbo, Thorin, Fili Kili (all in battle gear from Erebor) Azog, 2x Orcs, 2x Elven archers, 2x Goblins. The set will consist of lots of rocks that can colapse and explode and maybe the outside of Erebor? Perhaps TLC will release a Smaug set that will give us the inside of Erebor and lots of treasure Quote

Mahtion Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) Great ideas for Hobbit sets! I believe we will get a Dol Guldur as second largest or the flagship set for wave 2 and a Laketown and Erebor set for wave 3. These three sets along with a Thranduil throne room would leave me satisfied. Smaug should be in both the Treasure room set and Laketown set. The Erebor set would be the mountain facade with the hidden door and big gates as well. The Thranduil throne room set could be small or medium and have the circular pillar ring like in the concept art with the throne with antlers. The Dol Guldur set will be like a mountain ruin with lots of traps and hidden compartments. A few broken towers and wall segments. Think larger Weathertop and like the new Dragon mountain from Castle 2013. The Treasure room will be just Smaug and Bilbo but be a medium set because of the size of Smaug. There will be treasure of course and some wall segments. Most likely similar to Mines of Moria just with a dragon and lots of treasure. The Laketown set will be a few wooden structures and bridges and docks over water. There will definitely be some flame pieces to simulate the areas being burned by Smaug. Bard and Smaug are included and it will be close to largest set like Black Gate. The largest set will be Erebor itself and feature a large gate, hidden side door in the mountain and some ramparts for the dwarves to peer down to the Elves and Lakemen below. It will include a bunch of Minifigs like Helms deep. It should be kinda like Silver Mines from the new Lone Ranger license but larger scale for the mountain. Edited February 20, 2013 by Mahtion Quote

Maybe it could connect too Barrel Escape? Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'd rather see a fully brick-built Smaug myself. I mean, his IS one of the greatest dragons of Middle Earth, hence why Gandalf sets in motion the entire Quest for Erebor... Quote
Str0ngbad Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I would probably change my mind if I saw what TLG could do with a brick-built Smaug but I'm more interested in the places and I can't see a built Smaug looking exceptional unless it was a rather large set in itself. I just wish this line were successful enough that they'd get a license with the Tolkien estate when the current one ran out. Sadly, there are far less LOTR fanatics than SW fans. Quote
Leo604 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'd rather see a fully brick-built Smaug myself. I mean, his IS one of the greatest dragons of Middle Earth, hence why Gandalf sets in motion the entire Quest for Erebor... He's basically the only prominent dragon mentioned, in either book or film. I can only see one being made, however unlikely, if they include a ton of screentime for him in the 2nd or 3rd movies. Quote
Cammo Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 My guess is that Smaug will be brick-built. They do it all the time with Ninjago. I don't mind if they would use some 'Bionicle' elements (don't know the official term for these pieces ). BTW do we know the number of bricks in the UCS Orthanc Set? My guess on the minifigures that go along with the Orthanc Tower: - Saruman - 2 Uruk-hai with White Hand symbols - 2 Orcs with a banner - Grima Wormtongue I don't think we'll get Treebeard in this set. They will probably use him for a set in the 3rd wave. Since The Hobbit will have sets at least until summer 2014, I hope that there'll be a small final 4th wave with everything that is needed for the Minas Tirith Battle. - Oliphaunt Set, - Minas Tirith itself/ the gates - Fellbeast with the Witch King - Battlepack similar to the Uruk-hai battlepack Quote
Blakstone Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I think we may get a Beorn's house in the December wave. I agree with other posters that a Orc v Elf battle pack is possible. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I certainly hope that a set of Beorn's house is on the way. It's a fairly important location in the book (if I remember right, the company spends 1-2 whole chapters there), and I'm sure it will be beautifully designed in the film. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 For December I'm guessing Mirkwood spider rehash Barrel Escape rehash Beorns house Big Dol Guldor fight place Quote
deskp Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 In my opinion Beorns hosue doesent sound like it'll be that important in the movie compared to other things. Quote
Blakstone Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 While I would like Beorn's house in LEGO, TLG skipped it when they thought that the first film would go all the way through Mirkwood. I have no clue is LEGO already had a set designed for it but opted against releasing for the first film. If they did, it may be easy to use it if they do not have to start from scratch. I doubt that TLG would release Mirkwood spider and Barrel Escape in the next wave. But they will likely continue to make it available for stores to order. Some LEGO sets have a longer shelf life than others. Quote
Deathleech Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 It's hard to say what the next Hobbit wave will entail. The first Hobbit wave literally had one set from each chapter except the trolls and one other chapter I believe. The second wave will probably be based on a lot of added PJ material I would imagine. I mean in the book the dwarves spend like two chapters at Beorn's House and then a few more chapters outside Lonely Mountain in a camp trying to figure out a way in. We know for certainty there will be some sort of Smaug set, but what else? Thranduil's Palace? Beorn's house? Laketown? Those are the only locations in the book. I am guessing we will get some Necromancer related material, otherwise it could be a really small wave. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 To me a big Necromancer fight set seems possible because that will probably be the finale of the second film. I don't think we will get Laketown until movie three when Smaug attacks. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 ^ We'll be seeing quite a bit of Laketown in the second movie, actually. The live preview event last week showed quite a bit of the sets, actors, scenes being filmed, etc. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I still think the sets in the Lego room picture will be next year sets (I know ,Theres Prototype sets in that picture , but a good majority of the sets on the LotR Shelf have been made into sets) , so heres the ones I remember for Lord of the Rings: #1 Treebeard #2 Elven Treehouse #3 The Balrog Quote
Good Cragger Fan Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) As for "battlepacks" ( I prefer the term "minifigure packs"), I would really love to see a Rohan soldier "battlepack". It should consist of the following LEGO minifigures and other parts: 2 archer foot soldiers, with a reddish-brown quiver and reddish-brown bow-and-arrow (that are NOT made in China!) for each archer, and the exact same torso, hands, arms, hips and legs combination that is found in the archer foot soldier in the Uruk-Hai Army set; 2 spearmen, with the type of spear that is found in the Tribal Chief minifigure in Minifigures Series 3 (the spear elaborate type of spear, not the classic castle spear, so it is the same style as the spear in the Uruk-Hai Army set and so matches it, but the colour doesn't really matter to me); the exact same green, round shield that the Rider of Rohan has in the Uruk-Hai Army set (I forgot his name, so what is his name? ) for each spearman, and the same torso, hands, arms, hips and legs combination in terms of design, prints and colours as the 2 archer footsoldiers; 1 Rider of Rohan, with the sword that is found in the Evil (Boar) Knight minifigure in Minifigures Series 7 but in a lighter gray colour; the same shield as the 2 spearmen in terms of design, print, shape and colour, and 1 (I guess, the new style of ) horse in either white or brown; and any LEGO brick-building elments that are necessary for LEGO to be allowed to release this set without it breaking any contract rules with Peter Jackson and/or the Tokien Estate, and/or the production company and/or the distributors of the Lord of the Rings movies (in addtion to LEGO making some sort of model that doesn't just contain minifigures and/or animals that goes with the minifigures and horse). Edited April 1, 2013 by Good Cragger Fan Quote
Str0ngbad Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I really do wish they would stop being so stingy with minifig materials. Would it cost that much more for all of the mordor orcs to come with hair or all of the uruk-hai to come with armor? Good Cragger Fan, it sounds like you are basically asking for Uruk-Hai army without the Uruks. Not that that's a bad thing to want but I'd be willing to bet that there won't be any more sets based in Rohan. As far as important characters, they should be able to get Grima into Orthanc and Eowyn in a Pelenor set. With Gondor still left untouched, I have a hard time seeing them coming back to Rohan. I most want a Lothlorien set (reasonable) and a Grey Havens set (incredibly unlikely). The only reason I fear they may not hit Lothlorien is I imagine Galadriel will get released in the Hobbit sets. So if they are trying to squeeze as many characters as possible into a small number of waves, Lothlorien isn't a go-to location. It could be spectacular though. Quote
