lego-maniac Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Hi all Please let me intoduce my current moc : This is one of the most important construction in my town http://fr.wikipedia....rret_(Grenoble) I've decided to build it in minifig scale (2.20 m high in lego) for an acrhitecture convention in my city it has been modelised during 2 weeks and solutions has been tried to be sure : for a total of 25 000 parts. After testing different colors, I've decided to build it all in Light Bluish Gray despite the fact that several parts do not exist in this color (I've used 1X1 with tooth in pearl) I've ordered lot of command but the problem is my dead line. The tower must be presented on january 31th for the "grand opening" of the convenion. I order part on PaB and BL on january 10 only (can't order before the official command) lot of parts arrived quickly and hours of construction after kids sleeping. If actually 80% is done, my first command for the whole central axe is missing and I've still not tried to add all elements together I do my best with my personnal parts but I do not have enough to build. Hope it will not collapse ! lol hope you'll enjoy Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Your off to a great start, but man that is a heck of a time crunch! Good thing you're far along. I'm looking forward to see the final product. Best of luck Quote
mobricki Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Impressive so far but you're running out of time. Quote
hush Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 WOW it's an impressive moc in such a short time frame , can't wait to see it all done Quote
lego-maniac Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 you're right, time is running.... Just because I'm very curious, here is the weight of a part of 20cm : With the base and disk the total weight must be around 20 kg Quote
lego-maniac Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 some new pics for closer view . I'm still waiting for my command and according to Lego, it has been lost. They take 2 days to find it in a deutchland warehouse. The print with my adress has desapeared. So they send it again but too bad, too late for the "grand opening" of the exposition (done 3 hours ago) I've made something to put it at the place of the big tower behind the placard : Quote

ER0L Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Very impressive! Great to see some unusual Lego architecture like this. I love the whole shape and all those nice textures. Been to Grenoble once, but alas did not visit the tower. Amazing work! Quote
Midnight Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Wow... That is looking amazing. I have never tried to build something of that scale before, because of the sheer time and cost. it will be great to see how this eventually turns out. Good luck! Quote

Kristel Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 This is amazing! It looks fantastic and very true to the real building. I have to ask ... how many 1x1 plates with tooth went into this tower? Quote
lego-maniac Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) I have to ask ... how many 1x1 plates with tooth went into this tower? the tooth do not exist in Medium Stone Grey, I've bought Pearl Gray but the final result is fine because the under face is not "pearly" as the upper Some details here : PLATE 1X1 389 FLAT TILE 2X2 436 BRICK 1X1 W. 1 KNOB 582 FLAT TILE 1X4 594 BRICK 2X6 614 BRICK 1X2 WITH CROSS HOLE 645 PLATE 1X2 W. 1 KNOB 648 FLAT TILE 1X8 688 ANGLE PLATE 1X2/1X4 1236 PLATE 1X1 W/TOOTH 3276 ROOF TILE 1X1X2/3, PC 3280 Edited February 11, 2013 by lego-maniac Quote
Kristel Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 PLATE 1X1 W/TOOTH 3276 ROOF TILE 1X1X2/3, PC 3280 Wow. That extract is one hell of a parts list in itself. I bet you were sick of the sight of those plates and cheese slopes by the end of the build! Quote
lego-maniac Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Tooth are easy to put in place but cheeses... argh, that was hell. Big fingers + small part that never turn in the right way ... argh Quote
