I have bought a few of the Chima sets, just to get a flavor for the theme and to see if it was something I was going to like.

Basically I decided that the game was not for me, as I cannot get the speedorz to go up the ramps. We have wooden floors and the ramps just get pushed along in front of the speedorz rather than them going up it.

So what to do, I have the Crawley Crocodile set which seemed quite interesting to me, I like the way that the tracks swing forwards with the rotating blades. I wish however they had come up with a mechanism for controlling when the track units are swung forwards rather than it just being an automatic as soon as the vehicle moves.

I also felt there was some scope to build other vehicles using the bits so I bought another one. I did see in one of the clips on the LEGO site that the Lion army was advancing along a road and they had more than just one of the same vehicle in the convoy.so I am assuming that the name given to the operator of these vehicles is a sort of rank rather than their personal name. (otherwise they would be pretty small armies.) But anyway, I wanted to build a tracked vehcile, I liked the idea of the spinning blades but wanted to take this away from the tracks. I will need to get another set to get some more large wheels and olive green bits for that.

Anyway, I went through several rebuilds until I came up with this. I know a lot of people will not like it as it essentially a vehicle for firing flick fire missiles at the enemy. I have though given each missile a bot of CHI power in the form of a 1X1 Trans Light Blue round plate, in order to keep the theme. It also still sports the biting crocodile mouth, although a different design of one as to that of the original.

I have another Crawley set so will be looking to build a bit larger vehicle with the toothed spinning bits out front soon, I will of course post it when I have finished it. May take a few days and fiddling until I am happy but hopefully I will get some time over the weekend.

This is really nice!

I prefer it to the original model myself - I'm primarily interested in that set for the parts and seeing what you've done with them has shown me that it's actually a pretty decent pick up.

As promised I have uploaded the photos of my other Croc Clan Vehicle to Flickr. They are in the same folder as the original one.

This new vehicle is not tracked but runs on four of those large olive wheels, the front axle of which is equipped with an large array of rotating blades to chomp its way through any enemy foolish enough to get in the way. The front wheels and blades are mounted on a frame that allows them to pivot up and down so they can cope with awkward terrain. I must admit this was not intentional and just a consequence of the way I built the frame, but as it added to the design I just accepted it.

If any enemies escape the whirling blades they come face to face with a similar chomping Croc mouth as the other clan vehicles. Like the tank I originally posted this vehicle comes equipped with twin mounts for Flick Fire Missiles, these can be rotated and raised or lowered as required.

Anyway, I hope you like the new vehicle.

Here is a link, all the other shots are on flickr as well. http://www.flickr.com/photos/hrw-amen/8440794817/in/set-72157632632449010/
