February 15, 201411 yr Keep in mind that the graphic novels are side-stories and that one is due for release in September of this year. There is very little chance that it will have any connection to future seasons of the show or future years of sets.
February 15, 201411 yr So is that to say they aren't canon? I've never quite understood their connection to the main Ninjago universe.
February 16, 201411 yr So is that to say they aren't canon? I've never quite understood their connection to the main Ninjago universe. Well, I suppose they aren't NOT canon unless the show actually contradicts them (since Ninjago has little in the way of a formal canon in the first place). But they also aren't usually connected to the main plot, instead telling independent adventure stories. And as such, they often feature zany plots that might not have anything to do with the show or the sets.
February 16, 201411 yr TBS has a close up video of the Ninja Charger -Sci $40? Awesome ninja vehicle? Awesome nindroid vehicles? Titanium Metallic basketball hoop? Yep, totally gonna make it mine. ToyArk's pics are also cool, though it's a shame we don't get a better look at the figs (especially Zane, who has fallen off his stand). I really need to know which version of Zane this is — if the arm colors are finalized, then it's either the non-battle-damaged variant (which is what I'm hoping for) or a new one entirely, and which it is could have a big impact on whether I get the Destructoid.
February 16, 201411 yr The X-1 Charger looks fantastic still! Cool how they used a black basketball net for the thruster in the back. Also, by the looks of it, the engine on the back looks like a slammer for the interceptor bike. It looks like all of the Ninja in the Battle for Ninjago City set have shoulder armor. Wish we could get a really close pic of the Overlord, though.
February 16, 201411 yr TBS has a close up video of the Ninja Charger :snip: -Sci Ooh shiny, I see the spring loaded are getting put in Ninjago too.... Now if only we saw the Battle for The City set, from what I can see Zane has a new suit (check boxart)
February 16, 201411 yr That use of the basketball hoop is really great, but it's not enough to convince me to get the set. The Battle for Ninjago City still seems relatively drab, so there's some more money saved there .
February 17, 201411 yr ToyArk's pics are also cool, though it's a shame we don't get a better look at the figs (especially Zane, who has fallen off his stand). It appears to be a new one entirely! Zoom in on the top of the box!
February 17, 201411 yr It appears to be a new one entirely! Zoom in on the top of the box! I think Lloyd has a new torso too. I still can't tell for sure if the Overlord has a snake tail or a slope for legs. I am in love with the Ninja Charger. It looks like a good sturdy build with nice details. It would be awesome if pushing the engine at the back unleashes the bike. On another note, the pics from the Ghostbusters set show a hairpiece that is perfect for a custom Dareth. Of course finding a good torso could be difficult but one step closer.
February 17, 201411 yr It appears that while Lloyd and Zane are getting new suits, everybody elses are the same...that's kinda werid.
February 17, 201411 yr When does the Ninja Charger come out? It looks fantastic! I'm pretty sure it comes out in the July/august timeframe
February 17, 201411 yr Has anyone found better pictures of the Temple and the OverLord? The ones from ToyArk aren't that great...
February 17, 201411 yr Agreed. The sets don't have the sparkle they once had in my opinion. It is difficult though for Lego I imagine to keep coming up with new things. The X1 does something new instead of re-hashing an old concept though, but it is a pity the car as a model isn't that awesome. Son wants the dragon though. It is a big and has blades. lol.

Personally, I am loving the X1 Ninja Charger. I don't know why a lot of people don't find it impressive. It uses some clever building techniques, and presents a very different subject than any previous Ninjago set. I personally would take it over the Kai Fighter any day — while that set is cool, I don't think it will ever measure up to Jay's Storm Fighter in my opinion, whereas this model captures the subject (a fantasy muscle car with pop-out bike) brilliantly on the very first attempt.
February 17, 201411 yr Honestly, I kinda miss the buildings from the first wave of Ninjago. The vehicles are nice, but they're getting a tad monotonous and I kinda miss ninja stuff. Glad to see that dragon temple in the line, but it's probably gonna be way out of my price range :( Edited February 17, 201411 yr by ijffdrie
February 17, 201411 yr Here is a close up of the Overlord, if anybody needs it. By the looks of it I think he has a sticker on the slope and that face looks creepy.
February 17, 201411 yr Here is a close up of the Overlord, if anybody needs it. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2880/12600275873_7e5474bc62.jpg By the looks of it I think he has a sticker on the slope and that face looks creepy. The sticker isn't attached to the Overlord — it's attached to a curved slope thing on the front of his vehicle. That's part of the reason there's been so much confusion. You can't actually see all of his lower body while he's in his vehicle. Unless, of course, the entire vehicle IS his lower body. That's also possible. Edited February 17, 201411 yr by Aanchir
February 18, 201411 yr Maybe the OverLord is Cyrus fully possessed, like when the OverLord took control of Lord Garmadon. Because they both have Machines for legs.
February 18, 201411 yr No, that's stupid. We know already that Cyrus is not posessed. His chair is, and the machinery on him does put him under the Overlord's control, but this is not the case as the Overlord is "done with pathetic mortal bodies" and can exist outside of possessing technology and/or organic material as long as he gets enough of Lloyd's power.
