Lego Spy Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) Personally, I actually really like the NinjaCopter. And the Hover Hunter isn't that bad, you get a large blade and the black mouth cover piece from Cole. Edited October 26, 2013 by Lego Spy Quote
Jetrax99 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Is it just me, or does Zane's falcon look more like a Crow or Raven? Quote
Mandate Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 That's partly due to a crow/raven being the actual original purpose of the part. Anyway, MAN THESE LOOK AWESOME Now I am definitely getting the Hover Hunter. The Ninjacopter is... gorgeous. That is now my top priority set for next year, that's for sure. So this "war," is over the Techno Blades? I guess that explains what happened to Wu and Cyrus. (and, perhaps Pixal?) Dr Julien probably modified the Elemental Blades, now that I think about it. Quote
PenPlays Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) And I quite like Pixal. Do we know anything about her? We know as much as you at the moment. Man these pictures are awesome. I wasn't surprised by the price of the Hover Hunter as Razcal's Glider suffered the same fate (although the Glider is far better looking). Why do I have this sudden urge to buy the entire wave the day these come out! Edited October 26, 2013 by Penkid11 Quote
Takanuinuva Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) Wouldn't a black painted version if the Pirate Parrot work better as Zane's Falcon than the Crow? Maybe even a repaint of the Seagull from the Collectible Minifgures line would look more like a falcon. Edited October 26, 2013 by Takanuinuva Quote
Mandate Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 No, the parrot is too... "parroty,". Can't really comment on the Seagull but I guess that would have been better. Heck, a new part would have been better. This year has less new parts (that are exclusive to NINJAGO) than last year... Quote

I digress, as I think the Crow is good enough. Quote
Rocketbilly Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I am SURE at least one HF set uses those pieces. They look like they could make for some great shoulder armour. And I quite like Pixal. Do we know anything about her? Apparently one of the villains we're getting in the upcoming wave of Hero Factory will be a praying mantis style character. I'm almost certain it will appear in that set, it seems like such a good fit. Quote

And this is the Owl While certainly closer than the Crow, it's too owl-like to pass for anything other than an owl, really. Edited October 27, 2013 by JayWalker Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I am loving these new angles of the NinjaCopter. The Hover Hunter looks better as well, I was a little worried I wouldn't like the set but now I am satisfied with it. Quote
Mandate Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Indeed, the Ninjacopter is much more likeable now with the extra images. Quote

I hope those aren't the pieces he uses, however- they just don't look sharp enough to me. They're still very interesting pieces, don't get me wrong. I hope they connect in the same way as other HF add on pieces (via two small pins). I'm already thinking about a few ways to use them. Quote

Heck, a new part would have been better. This year has less new parts (that are exclusive to NINJAGO) than last year... Really? For 2013 there were four new parts (Samurai crest, Samurai face mask, General Kozu upper body, and elemental sword blade). 2014 has at least six (Ninja face mask, Kai hair, Cyrus Borg hair, Techno-Blade, Nindroid face mask, General Cryptor body armor). That's not including Lloyd and Garmadon's hair piece, which might appear in other themes like Star Wars, or the two new building elements that have been spotted in the Ninjago sets and have not yet been spotted in pics of other 2014 sets. Even counting those, it's nowhere near as many new molds as there were in 2012 (nine new spinner parts alone, if you count the spinner itself as a single part, plus 16 new minifigure parts and four new weapon parts) or 2011 (13 new minifigure parts, five new weapon parts, a new spinner, and three new dragon parts). But the theme was a lot larger those years, both in terms of number of minifigures and total number of sets. I agree the parrot wouldn't have worked, and I think the crow is a better fit than the seagull, though the method for Zane to hold it is kind of awkward. Overall, I don't know that the Falcon would have gotten a new mold even if there were the budget for it. There are lots of other things that the designers could have used an additional new mold for, after all, such as a new weapon for the Nindroids or another new building element. Actually, this year had 5 new parts. You forgot the body armor on the "standard" and "elite" Warriors. Lloyd and Garmadon's (oh gosh that's gonna get confusing) hair pieces were already used by Anakin Skywalker (on another note, Garmadon's face in Battle Between Brothers is the same as Lloyd's 2012 face). Kai's hair piece is almost certainly going to get another use somewhere else, but it's too early to draw conclusions just yet. Anyway, that means both waves got 5 new parts exclusive to their line that will probably not be used elsewhere. Anyway, yes, the first two years were definitely much bigger in that regard. Quote
DraikNova Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Funny that we get to see the less polished prelims only after we've seen the finalized pictures. The Ninja-Copter still seems great, but how in the Cthulhu is the sawblade under the Hover Hunter connected? Quote
Mandate Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Probably via a 2x2 plate with one of blue connector pins with the stud on the end. Quote

The Ninja-Copter still seems great, but how in the Cthulhu is the sawblade under the Hover Hunter connected? Short answer: from underneath. I don't know what pieces exactly it uses, but there's a 3M Medium Stone Grey axle connected between the Technic connector on top and some other piece with a cross axle hole underneath. This is consistent with the amount of space needed under the vehicle to account for the large engines. Quote
crazyjay Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I cant wait for this series. I love that Pixal minifig. she is my priority buy. Quote
Aanchir Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 It looks like the many kids dressing up as Ninjago characters for Halloween have not gone unnoticed. Man, my brother and I were dressing up as obscure LEGO characters before it was cool. [/hipster] There have definitely been some awesome ones this year, for instance here and here. The Green Ninja was apparently a popular costume last year, with these two being particularly outstanding. Feel free to search Google Images for "Ninjago costumes" if you want to see more! There's definitely no shortage of them! I just found these amazing Kai ZX and Nya costumes from last year! Quote
Mandate Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 ...wow. I don't celebrate halloween, but these are pretty cool. Though I find it somewhat disappointing that people got Lloyd mixed up with TMNT in the comments section of that comic. Quote
Lego Spy Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) Wow, some of those are really good! (especially the ones that look like the minifigures ) Edited October 31, 2013 by Lego Spy Quote

Mandate Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Yeah, NINJAGO has been such a hit that even companies outside of the toy world are copying it. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 New alternate images of the Nindroid MechDragon on the Brickset page. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=70725-1 Evil Wu and Garmadon look very nice and the dragon looks like it acts as some kind of drop-ship. Quote
