Mandate Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 But its essentially the new blade piece on a stick, which is also how I'd describe Zane's. Alright, its not that bad, but compare it to Cole's or Jay's. I think they just have better piece choices in my opinion. OK... So its basically a blueprint for the Hover Hunter... Great! I'll definitely be using this as my desktop background. That wasn't the only wallpaper... check WA's second post in that thread. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Wait, they just weren't there? That's not good... Haha turns out I was looking at it wrong. It was step 22 but step 22 have 13 parts so it looked like I had just skip it going from 13 to 23...I also must have skipped some pages...silly me. :) Edited November 20, 2013 by LegendsOfNinjago Quote

LegendsOfNinjago Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Found the OverBorg Attack on eBay for $50...I think I can wait... Quote
Merc4hire95 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Fifty bucks for a set that will 20 in a week, give or take, is not worth it. Its nice to know that the sets are starting to show up in stores. Quote
Mandate Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Alright, so its basically what ToaJaller posted on the previous page. No, actually. The character placements are different, similar they may be but they are very different. Quote

Daenerys Targaryen Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I spotted the complete line-up of the new 2014 sets yesterday at a pair of ToysToysToys locations in downtown Toronto - one in the Eaton Center and the other location in the underground PATH that connects most of the downtown core. Of course, being ToysToysToys, they're jacking their prices by at least $5 - $10+ above RRP... Quote
Mandate Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 $5-$10 mark-up? What are you doing!? HURRY UP AND BUY THEM All jokes aside, don't think $5-$10 is that big of a mark-up right now considering you're getting them nearly two months early not including S@H's release date. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 $5-$10 isn't too, it's just like Toy'R'Us' mark ups. I'd get them if I were you. Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) It's the way they do their mark-ups honestly... Their price stickers for example on Jay's Fighter at the top say $34.99 and then below that "Sale $29.99". They're selling the Mech Dragon IIRC at a 'sale' price of $150, and I'm betting that in reality it is meant to be a $130 set... (and Toys 'r Us will eventually get it and have one of their 20% Ninjago sales!) I just think it's entirely dishonest the way they price gouge their customers by essentially falsely advertising their so-called 'sale' price when it's really still well above other retailers prices. When they did a 40% off all Chima/Ninjago/LotR/Star Wars "sale" for example, they first increased all the base prices by 30-35% or more! so in reality you ended up only really saving at most 10% - 20%... and with some sets, that so-called "sale" simply brought the price down to RRP! For example, they jacked the Helm's Deep set upto $240! at which point 40% off made it $144 - an actual savings of roughly just 18% off the RRP. (meanwhile, Toys 'r Us last Xmas had an actual 40% off any one LotR set sale, meaning you could really cash in, while they seem to do 20% every 6-8 weeks or so!) I don't mind waiting honestly as I'm a very patient person... (2-3 month waiting time is like the blink of an eye when you're a Warhammer fan! ) Edited November 21, 2013 by Daenerys Targaryen Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 It's all in supply and demand. People WILL pay that for sets that aren't available anywhere else. Now there's a point where "Mark Ups" are too high. Now since Ninjago is one of my all time favorites, $5-$10 doesn't bother me, when it gets $15+ that's where I have to hold back. Quote
Merc4hire95 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I disagree, price mark ups are very important, especially when you pay for every set you buy. 5 to 10 U.S dollars may have been the opportunity of a lifetime a month ago. Now being a week away, give or take, for LEGO to start selling the Ninjago sets for retail price, 25 to 30 bucks for a set that will retail for 20 in a week is not worth it. The smartest thing is to just wait it out. Apart from that, we got an entire year to buy the sets, what's the rush. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 That makes sense. Like my MechDragon buy was nice, even with oneday shipping, it was less than MSRP. I can wait, I'm hoping to get the NinjaCopter for Christmas, plus I don't have money to get them all. I'm just saying most stores where I live take a month or so to get new sets while TRU with their mark ups have them before or on the release date. Quote
Merc4hire95 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I can understand buying that special set(s) with a price mark up, I do it all the time with ToysRus, but an entire wave, it gets very expensive. The amount of extra money ends up being the equivalent to another set, sometimes even two sets. Unless your filthy rich, then by all means Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Which I'm deffinalty not :) when it come to TRU and buying from them I usually stick with the smaller ones. In this case the ones under 30. Plus I still have a giftcard and coupons :) Quote
PenPlays Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Or you could just avoid TRU altogether. Just five dollars makes a huge difference, especially when that $5 can be used on? You guessed it! Another Lego set. I stop in to TRU from time to time for exclusive polys, and am always disgusted by the prices they have, especially since the local Lego store is just across the street. Quote

Avoiding Toys 'R' Us isn't the only option anymore if you want to avoid inflated prices. I recently learned that Toys 'R' Us will price-match certain competitors. Of course, they include shipping charges if you try and price-match an online price, but if you get print ads for competing stores in your local newspaper and those include LEGO sets, you should be able to get those sets from Toys 'R' Us at RRP or close to it! This conversation is kind of getting off topic but I figured I'd share that information. Back on-topic, someone on Flickr has several of the new sets and took pics of the boxes. The back of the Thunder Raider box shows what the Thunder Raider looks like from the front when the mech is attached. It's very cool how the mech's cannons act as additional armament for the Thunder Raider. Quote
Merc4hire95 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 The thunder raider and mech function to combine is definitely my favorite play feature of all the other sets. Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Yeah, Brick Show claims to have all the sets in their Hover Hunter review Are they at TRU? :O -Sci Quote
r4-g9 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 In Canada the Lego stores have them so you could try your local store, but I'm not so sure abut TRU... Quote
