LegendsOfNinjago Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 This isn't off topic, so hear me out. I've recently seen new set pictures floating around from other themes. I wonder if we'll get prelims before the toy fair come this spring. As talked about before the likelyhood of new sets coming late spring early summer is strong. Quote
PenPlays Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Most of the recent findings regarding a "spring wave" are more supplementary or considered secondary themes to most. This has happened in at least the previous two years (though not to the extent of 2014). Don't expect there to be more Ninjago stuff to be revealed until the Toy Fair. Quote
Mandate Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 No. LEGO has clearly intended NINJAGO to come back as a full-scale action theme, and there's a lot of evidence to support that. This wave has just been to test the demand of the sets and to see if it will bounce back from its hiatus. They wouldn't have a feature-length NINJAGO movie in the works if they expected Chima, or the Hobbit, to beat its sales. And if anything that illustrates how poorly Chima is doing, that NINJAGO, a line that has not yet proven it can come back gets a (VERY big-budget) movie, whereas its "replacement" Chima, did not pick up enough steam to get its own. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Whatever the reasoning may be for why or why not we should suspect anything to show up at Toy Fair, I think we will see teaser builds. At least 1 from the show I suspect. Quote

Mandate Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 So can we get some pics of the poster given away at TRU? Quote
Aanchir Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 So can we get some pics of the poster given away at TRU? Yep! Brickset member margot was kind enough to provide pics in this post on the Brickset forums. Quote
Lego Spy Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yep! Brickset member margot was kind enough to provide pics in this post on the Brickset forums. That's pretty neat, do we know when it'll be given away at TRU? (Oh and, this is my 500th post! I'm now Knight rank! ) Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Interesting poster, might choose to get one. Quote
Mandate Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Strange, why is Zane using the Shurikens of Ice on one side? For a weapon that's completely vanished for two years now, and would make more sense if they were silver now. I'm not suggesting the Golden Weapons will make a return, but it's still somewhat odd of a decision. Quote
PenPlays Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 That's pretty neat, do we know when it'll be given away at TRU? It was for a promo that I believe expired a couple weeks ago. Not quite sure though. Won't hurt to check the local Toy's R Us though. I got mine after purchasing a half off Bug Obliterator and Crater Creeper. It's also important to note that the poster is nearly 3 feet in length by 2 feet in width. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Once again MnLawesome surprises us with a ninjago destructoid review Quote
Mandate Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Yes! That is BRILLIANT news that Destructoid is out now. Good news for me as well, turns out I'm getting the Ninjacopter for Christmas! :D Quote
DraikNova Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I got the Kai Fighter today. It's rather nice, but I wish it was easier to get the wings back to the initial position, without having to push them back by hand. Replacing the dome on the back with something else doesn't help, as that part will then just fall off. Quote
PenPlays Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Got the Hover Hunter and Overborg Attack for Christmas today. I'm only a Dragon and a Destructoid away from completing the winter wave! The two sets both utilize an well-thought-out technique to get the blades moving using little wheels. Getting the function to work on the OBA was a little tough when on a loose (tablecloth) surface, but both sets function as advertized. Quote
PenPlays Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Sorry for the double post, but this deserves it's own post. Destructoid is $34.99 USD. Found it (and purchased it) at the local Lego Store. I also bought the MechDragon, meaning that I am now the proud owner of the complete winter 2014 wave of Ninjago! Quote

Kalhiki Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I'll be going to a Lego store next week. Hope to find it. The Destructoid looks like one of the better sets of the wave. That being said, I got the other sets for Christmas. Still need to build some of 'em though. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) And the Australian online LEGO Shop has the Destructoid for $49.99. Now to find out where it is in retailers... Edited December 27, 2013 by Wall E2624 Quote
Mandate Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Well, glad to see it's going to be available, even if for a hefty price tag... Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Is it just me or do we have ALOT of robots this year...I mean the nindroids, the robots from the Lego Movie...I guess that wasn't as many as I originally thought... Quote
horizon Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Next step: Lego BattleTech. :) (The Lego movie mechs are quite creative though!) Quote
PenPlays Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Destructoid is a fantastic command center/mech. The back of the box doesn't do justice for it's functions, as each of them adds onto the overall look of the set. It has a Garmatron vibe to it (small but does its job) and actually has plenty of room for a whole squad of Nindroids. The Min-droid is charming as well. Normal Zane isn't very interesting compared to battle damaged Zane, but it's nice to have a whole variation. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but since 2011 each faction has their own aesthetically equal vehicle/creature (i.e. Jay's Storm Fighter as an equivalent to the Rattlecopter, Kai's Blade Cycle as an equivalent to Lasha's Bite cycle, Lighting Dragon Battle speaks for itself, etc.) Normally, equivalent's aren't complete until the summer wave of sets, but for Rebooted, each set already has it's match. Mechdragon=Ninjacopter Nya's Buggy=Overborg Tank bike Ninjacopter's Nindroid Glider=Kai Fighter Kai Fighter's General Cryptor=Destructoid's Zane Destructoid=Thunder Raider/Earth Mech combo Thunder Raider's Nindroid Turret=Hover Hunter's Cole Hover Hunter=Lloyd's Bike I found this to be interesting, and I'm curious as to just what we'll have for the Summer Wave.
