Speedza-Demon Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 In regards to the possible set names, could it be possible that the "Overborg" is some new form of the Overlord? The last episode left his fate ambiguous, and it would be interesting if they are both related. They sound interesting regardless, and more dragons are always welcome in my book. Quote
horizon Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Totally fake I think. If that is legit, I am basing this on speculation, Lego ripped a Star Trek story line. Star Trek TNG: the android Data also had a brother, named Lore. In a double episode Lore took command a large part of the Borg. Borg being some kind of mechanical humanoids as well. Hence the name Borg and the set names with Borg in it. Quote
Flipz Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Some other theories: 1. Zane's father made a Nindroid before Zane but he went rogue and he had to let him go. Then that rogue Nindroid created an army to take revenge on Zane's father As the above poster noted, this is basically the story of Data and Lore from Star Trek: The Next Generation. I, however, think this wouldn't be so bad; Zane DOES, after all, follow many of the same tropes as Data, and I'm certain there have been a few Shout Outs to Data via dialogue. The Lore counterpart will likely outmatch Young!Evil!Lloyd in terms of annoying-ness*, but there are plenty of good aspects to that storyline as well, so I wouldn't mind seeing a new take on it--provided it's new ENOUGH to make it distinct from the original. *because Lore himself was obnoxious in the extreme, and given Young!Evil!Lloyd as a baseline any counterpart could only be worse. Peppermint_M Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Or this is all idle speculation without any evidence or citation bar some not very quality videos... It's still May. Maybe when we get something concrete we'll have more to go on. Quote

No, "Borg" is short for "Cyborg" (which refers to a robotic or half-robotic organism, essentially) which is where both Ninjago and Star Trek got the term. Not everything to use "borg" as a suffix is ripping off Star Trek; they're just creating a portmanteau with the word cyborg. Just like how the word "Nindroid" isn't a rip-off of Star Wars; it's just a portmanteau of Ninja and android, the term from which the Star Wars term "droid" is derived. Quote

But yeah, I commented before, between the last two seasons of Ninjago we can see some background hints towards this type of story. When Zane finds his fathers old workshop, and discovers he is a Nindroid, he discovers his own blueprints. But later, in the next season, when they rescue his father from the island, seen around the fathers workshop are more Nindroid blueprints. Probably not of Zane. Quote

Am I the only one who's slightly more excited about hearing more Jay Vincent music than I am about the show or the sets? (Then again, I AM still trying to gather enough cash for THIS year's wave of sets, let alone budgeting for the next wave...) That's is why I love this series so much, I cannot decide which part of it I like! The music, the sets, the show, I love it all! Oh, and keep a good look out for a BOGO 50% sale. That typically is the best sale you can find these days on Lego, and it saves the most cash when you buy sets of equal value (i.e. Warrior Bike and Cole's Earth Driller at $15 ea* (both fantastic sets by the way)). You can also branch out to other themes to save money as well (i.e. Galaxy Squad Hive Crawler and the Temple of Light at $52.50 ea*). Of course you probably already thought of that. * sans tax Quote

Tobias_Jay Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Wow, which books are these again? That merman/maid could be an underwater story arc which might be interesting, maybe Ninjago gets flooded. Maybe Ninjago will be invaded by different kinds of evil beings, instead of an army. That would be interesting to see and would provide a good variety of figures. Quote

I'm pretty sure it's the graphic novels. Though those figures are cool, I wouldn't get my hopes up on seeing figures based on them. They're just background characters there. Quote
DraikNova Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Does that guy on the right in zx-like garb have any backstory? Quote
Aanchir Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Does that guy on the right in zx-like garb have any backstory? He's called the Time Ninja. He was a thief who exposed himself to the energies of the Crono Crater in hopes of immortality, but instead he got the ability to see the immediate future, and thus be prepared for any attack his opponents throw at him. The creature on the left is called a Barracudox. The many-armed fellow in the center is Kirchonn the Invincible. They are just some of the colorful villains in Stone Cold, the seventh Ninjago graphic novel. I don't expect ANY of the characters in that book who have not already appeared in sets to appear in the future. They are simply a testament to Greg Farshtey's ability to dream up diverse villains and Jolyon Yates' uncanny ability to illustrate those characters with a set-like level of detail, without having physical models to work from. You can see other examples in this rendition of "A Christmas Carol" or these characters from the comic "Judge Dredd". We may end up seeing characters from 2014 sets in the next graphic novel, though, since it takes place between the 2013 and 2014 story arcs and as such would be an appropriate place to include a teaser for the 2014 line of sets. Technically, she DID get another outfit as Samurai X; she just doesn't really use it without the full Samurai armor in any media. Anyway, the TV episodes seem to have a hard time justifying new default costumes for secondary characters. Look at Sensei Wu. Besides his black robes which he wore only in the two-minute short "Battle Between Brothers", he's been in his white robes from 2011 since he first appeared in the series. And he actually got a new costume design in the 2012 sets, which has still never appeared in the series proper! Quote
Lego Spy Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 (edited) Some cooler pics of them: I really wish Nya would get a new outfit... -Sci I don't know about that triple-tiered guy in the top left. I thought the whole Samurai X thng was a little weird too though. I have to be skeptical on the set names. Who knows, maybe it is just a publicity stunt. I guess we probably won't know for a while yet. -Lego Spy I'd still like to see that Merman thing though! Edited July 30, 2013 by Lego Spy Quote

LEGO 70720 - Air Breaks (Hover Hunter) LEGO 70721 - Kai fighter (Fighter Kai) LEGO 70722 - OverBorg attack (OverBorg Attack) LEGO 70723 - Thunder offensive (Thunder Raider) LEGO 70724 - NinjaCopter (NinjaCopter) LEGO 70725 - Nindroid mechanical dragon (Nindroid MechDragon) LEGO 70726 - Destroyers (Destructoid) Quote
CustomJoe_MD Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Anything with Borg in the name must come in a green accented cube shaped box, thats all I'm saying. With a poster like that and they rip the Terminator's "I'll be BACK" line, if they are going with terminator lines, they should have gone with "hasta la vista Lego fans" (vista is spanish for eyesight) much more apropriate. Curious about the dragon mech thing, and those nindroid headpieces. Are we getting parts for a DC Cyborg?? Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Nice to get confirmation of those names. If it is anything like last year, we should see pictures around October. Quote
