Optimax X Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 did anybody see it last night- shown actual footage of his crash- but don't worry if you missed it- repeating on wednesday or see the video of the crash on topgear.com Quote
Brainbox Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Yeah I saw it. What gets me is how he'd have been fine had he not been for that third run. Its on at 7:00 on Weds, just to elaborate on your statement. Did you see them doing the roadworks :-D :-D . As usual they made a complete pigs ear of it. But the Jaguar XKR *wub*. And the Aston Martin Vantage *wub* *wub* . Quote

Yes- and how ironic on the footage he was saying stuff like "if you turn the after burner on you could have the biggest crash of your life" and "i don't want to go upside down" the roadworks was really funny- jeremy and his speeches "this is our darkest hour but don't let adolf hammond get your spirits down" :-P :-P :-P typical JC! I liked the jaguar XKR over the vantage. Quote

I liked the jaguar XKR over the vantage. I'd rather have the Jag in black, so compared to the red Jag (which wasn't bad) the Vantage was better. Yeah, are we sure Hammond can't see into the future? ;-) I think this weekend they go golfing. I can almost guess what'll happen! Quote
Optimax X Posted February 2, 2007 Author Posted February 2, 2007 Ha! More comedy please..... i was so happy watching it last week i thought i might pop- maybe because it had came back after a load of time, or because hamond is back, but what's for certain, i won't be available here or anywhere else online at 8.00PM on a sunday. Quote
Brainbox Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 True. And then to top it all off, I get to talk about it all again with my friend at school on Monday. Less than 24 hours to go ;-) . Quote
Optimax X Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 This weeks was good- that veyron is sooo impressive! I also found the golfing bit funny and when they were in the art musuem Quote
Zane Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Watched it yesterday. One thing I do hate is how they pretend to mess stuff up then act like it's hilarious - like being 'thrown off' the golf course, which I highly doubt happened. And the way they get so worked up about the cars. It's just sad, IMO. Not sure why I watched it.... *sad* Quote
Optimax X Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 Yes but zane- that's the entertainment, seeing howthey will sort the cars out. It's one of the most popular shows in this country, and alot of people at my school watch it, but suppose that is to see what stunts they do and don't care about the cars, but you have to admit the veyron is a peice of acchivment. Quote
Brainbox Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 but you have to admit the veyron is a peice of acchivment. A bit!? It looks like a Batmobile. Quote
Optimax X Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 Well, what impressed me the most about it (the veyron) was that a top speed it covers a football pitch every second, and the tyres can only hold up to that for 11 mins! That and that it sucks in more air than we do in 4 days at full pelt. Quote
Zane Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 That's not my point though. My point is that the jokes are so obviously set up. Not even subtle, just clearly set up and therefore unfunny. Quote
Optimax X Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 That's not my point though. My point is that the jokes are so obviously set up. Not even subtle, just clearly set up and therefore unfunny. How do you know? Are you the top gear producer? Thought not. It's how they are though, and as your new to top gear, you have missed alot and so i would not go critisizing how they do things. And obiously it is not theat un-funny, because it is one of the most popular t.v shows around. Quote
Zane Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 New to Top Gear? No. I've watched it before, I just don't watch it every week. You don't need to be the Top Gear producer to realize that the jokes are so obviously set up. They'd be funny if they weren't set up so much.... Quote
Optimax X Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 So you think everything is set-up, like hammonds crash? Like they would be able to make a tyre explode in that force and faking that he was critically ill? As brain box put it perfectly, it's just a show with three men cocking about. Quote
casewindu Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 did anybody know that richard acctually used lego to get his mind back. Quote
Zane Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 And you think Hammond's crash was a joke? The JOKES are obviously set up and pre-written, and not a natural series of events. You're completely missing my point here. I get what you say when you mean that it's just about men messing about, my point is that the 'messing about' is so clearly set up and not the natural series of events that the presenters pretend that it is. I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition... :-| Quote
Brainbox Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 did anybody know that richard acctually used lego to get his mind back. Yes. Zane- I understand your point of view, and I understand that you don't find the jokes funny. But I do, as does Optimax and lots of other people. So what if some of it is set up? Its a way to extend the weekend that bit longer. Quote

Yeah, i heard he was presented with a lego model of the vampire. Quote
Brainbox Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 The vampire? I didn't know that bit. EDIT: Optimax- http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/ (for some reason, this computer wouldn't let me enter a link the usual way :-| ) Browse the series archives, and watch videoes (which I can't make work. :-| again) of the three 'mucking about.' Yeah- i think it was in one of the more recent magazines. Ohh- tonights episode looks funny, another road trip with clapped out cars! Yeah- i like the car darts the best, but the car football is also very funny! EDIT- man, this week's episode was sooo funny, stil laughing at it! Slightly offending to americans calling them all fat and stupid, so i bet they will get some complaints about that. They got one thing right, NASCAR does suck! Next weeks looks equally funny turing a reliant robin into a rocket. Quote

And a serious moment in the middle, when they were attacked for having the slogans on their cars. What a time for May's battery to go! And Clarkson finding the shirt in the boot of his Camaro. And the cow on the roof. And the removal of May's air conditioning unit. I have so got to watch this again on Wednesday. Really, what I mean is: :-D Quote
Optimax X Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 Agreed, though after seeing that "attack" it made me think i never want to go to america. That shirt was creepy i have to admit, i want to see it again, best of the series so far. Quote
Zane Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 The cow on the car arriving heroically was really quite funny, despite obviously being set up. And I doubt they actually ate the cooked road kill....heck, I doubt they cooked it. But that's not really the point. Ok, relatively funny yesterday. Relatively. ;-) Quote
Optimax X Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 Well obiously James May didn't cos he said he was a veggy! What a bad time to admit that! X-D Quote
