legomaniac83 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I was looking to buy all sets from either The Hobbit series or Monster Fighters, but I've noticed on the Lego site that there are no bundles. Did they stop doing this or are there limited times only? Those of you who have bought all of a paticular series in the past - how much did you save on buying them all at once? Thanks! Quote
Hey Joe Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I was looking to buy all sets from either The Hobbit series or Monster Fighters, but I've noticed on the Lego site that there are no bundles. Did they stop doing this or are there limited times only? Those of you who have bought all of a paticular series in the past - how much did you save on buying them all at once? Thanks! I've never bought a bundle - I've spent a bundle but that's different - but I see them from time-to-time on the US S@H site. If I'm not mistaken they're normally offered for a limited time, perhaps for a month or two after the sets are first put up for sale? You get Double VIP points which is basically 10% off. Joe Quote
TheLegoDr Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I've never bought a bundle, but I have seen them on the website. Although I've never seen as a full bundle of every set, only a select few they choose to put together. I typically just buy the sets on deals when they come out. Amazon usually has much better prices than S@H, although I do like the VIP program for free LEGO down the road. Quote

Haldiron Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 "Buy one of every product we sell in our new super-mega-jumbo bundle pack. A hundred easy payments of $19.99! [shipping and Handling fees separate]" Call me naive, but is this a joke? Quote
TheLegoDr Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I hope it is a joke because that would be a steal! Every product TLG has for $2000.. haha Quote
DaveBey Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 From approximately June to November (in the United States), LEGO offered several 'Virtual Product Collections:' 5001130: The Battle of Helm's Deep Collection 5001132: The Lord of the Rings Collection 5001133: Monster Fighters Collection 5001134: Mining Collection If I remember correctly, only a couple of the collections offered a savings. The Lord of the Rings Collection offered 9470: Shelob Attacks 'free.' Monster Fighters Collection offered 9461: The Swamp Creature 'free.' Double VIP points were also available for Monster Fighters Collection and Mining Collection. I'm fairly certain double VIP points were not available on The Lord of the Rings sets. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave Quote
cortman Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I have every LOTR set except The Orc Forge and I'll have that within a month. I bought them all separately, mostly deals on ebay. Keep your eyes open and you can find better bargains on individual sets from various sellers. Also check multiple vendors- many offer a "first time customer" discount that can really help with the price. Quote

legomaniac83 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Thanks for the replies all! I do go on eBay quite often, but living in Canada the shipping is quite a bit more. Also I see in the links DaveBey quoted, the CDN price is nearly $100 more than US. I think the best option is like some of you said - look for deals and such. Getting 20 or 25% off a TRU would be a good deal to complete a collection. Quote
Phoxtane Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Call me naive, but is this a joke? I hope it is a joke because that would be a steal! Every product TLG has for $2000.. haha Yes, it is a joke If I had taken the time to do the math properly, I would have come up with a price that's a bit more exorbitant! Quote
