Kintobor Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Karie tugs Brickington's pants, looking for his sympathy. "Please Brickington, I'm your pal right, I'm your friend, than use your chivalry, or whatever it's called and GET ME A DRUMSTICK! Please Bricky!" At this point she's almost on top of him, standing on her tippy toes, a delirious look on her, tears forming under her soft blue eyes. Truly, a pitiful sight. Brickington Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 "Ok, Karie, you now know me weakness." He smiles at Karie. "I'll try my best, but no promises." Using Diplomacy: "Appritenice to the Stealer of Senses, can you please bring the lady a Drumstick, I don't have to eat for three days. You don't have to feed me, just please get the lady a Drumstick." OOC: Does Diplomacy even work? Quote
Endgame Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) QM Note: Thanks, Shoker! Since Heroica is also about storytelling, I thought I'd throw you right into the fray with a plot twist. And yes, Brickington, diplomacy does work sometimes - but the Apprentice, being this quest's big bad, he doesn't budge too much. You did squeeze out a bit more information on the Harvester then you would've without diplomacy, and there will be other uses for it in the near future! "Worry not, the slop is edible... somewhat. My, you've grown audacious, automaton! You can throw about slander all you like, it won't help you a bit. I must say, I liked you better mild mannered. Much less annoying." The Apprentice snickers as Karie slumps to the floor, begging. Clearly, the menace was enjoying this situation far too much. "I must say, my dear, I like you far better when you are like this!" He kneels down, getting eye level with the famle Rogue. Karie can just barely make out his eyes behind the black mesh of his mask, the rest of his face indiscernable. They were a piercing blue, and they were staring coldly at the hungry rogue. "You'll grow to enjoy being my lab rat one day, darling. Even if I have to rob you of all your common sense to do it, you will one day enjoy every second of being under my thrall. May that day come soon." Em paces around the prsion cell, and notices a small sprout and some cobwebs in the prison cell. The Apprentice replies to Brickington. "Ah, I don't recall ever saying the portions of the black slop. Probably for the best, in your case." Following Em's line of sight to the sprout and cobwebs, realization dawns over the Apprentice. "Ah, yes! I prepared you a few playmates. Just some rowdy flora and fauna from the Luminous Passage, nothing too bad - but it should be enough to keep you company." With a snap of his fingers, the sprout fully emerges from the cold stone floor, revealing a peculiar plant. It was a whip-like weed whose head resembled a cymbal, of all things. From the shadows of the ceiling 2 spiders skitter the ceiling, one a blood red and the other a light blue. Both clicked furiously, but the rangers heard more then simple sounds. "Skreetity skritch skrat tick tick!" Translation: Will the woes of the wolrd ever end? It is all so overwhelming! "Skraaarrrrkk scritch scratch hiss!" Translation: I thirst for the blood of the ancients - but yours should do, at any rate! The Apprentice lingers by the bars of the jail cell, interested in seeing this bout. "Lets see how strong the lab rats I acquired are!" Prepare for your First Battle! Endgame Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 QM Note: Nope, the party leader simply decides the order in which you attack. You have to choose which enemy you attack and from which row. (Attacking from the front row means you give and take normal damage, fighting from the back row means you give and take half damage.) You can also spend your turn using an item on yourself or someone else, such as a potion. Battles are participated in by everybody, not just the party leader. Quote
Kintobor Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Karie stands up, in defiance and wipes the tears from her eye "Damn it! There goes that plan." She looks at Brickington. "Sorry mate, I didn't want to blow my rouse." She glares at the Apprentice, and lunges toward him, the bars protecting him from Karie's intense stare. SHe smiles twistedly. "Once I deal with your cronies, your going to regret calling me a lab rat, and then, were going to see whose begging for torture!" Karie backs away from the prison bars and draws out her dagger, swishing it around in her hand, flicking her wrist and doing impressive feats with it. She was ready for combat, her ponytail bobbing up and down. "Right, that Warring Widow should be our first priority. We should focus on it first, than move onto the Weeping Widow, since it's healing abilities are going to be a pain. I'm thinking 3 gang up on the Warring Widow, 1 on the Weeping Widow, and 1 on that stupid plant thing for our first attack. Edited February 8, 2013 by Kintobor Quote

Brickington tries to slam his sword into the Warring Widow, but the violent insect simply jumped out of the way. The Cymbalroot, being the stationary plant he is, can't dodge out of the way of Jeaux's arrow. Arnulf tries to succeed where Brickington failed, slashing at the Warring Widow. The spider evades the blade and instead shoots some red-hot thread at the rogue for his troubles. Arnulf stumbles back, trying to untangle himself from the burning mass of spider thread. Em fires off an arrow at the viscious spider, pinning down one of his legs. The insect, unfortunately, wriggles free and prepares for his next assault... though he did look rather weary. Karie attempts to stab the melancholic Weeping Widow with her dagger, but the crying little creature swiftly evades. joeshmoe554 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 OOC: Arnolf: Using an item uses your turn and you should probably still specify which row your character is in when taking that action (The back row). Brickington: You can't attack something with venom, you instead apply it to your weapon adding the poisoned effect for the rest of the battle. I would save that for now seeing as we should be able to finish these opponents with relative ease. All: I'm thinking same thing as last time, except Arnulf uses a potion instead of attacking.
