Endgame Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 OOC: Shouldn't the Weeping Widow be at 13 damage, not 14? By the way, really loving the Cymbalroot as an enemy, very clever! QM Note: "Hit" means the hero damages the enemy - "Damage" means that the enemy damaged the hero. Brickington was actually the one who took damage there. And thank you, I'm not even sure where the idea of a Cymbalroot came from! Quote

Endgame Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) Round Three of the Cage Clash >Em VS Cymbalroot (back): Special Damage (Ba-Dum-Tish: 3/2=2 damage, Stunned for next round.) >Arnulf VS Weeping Widow (front): Shield: Mug (3x3=9+1=10 damage, 10 gold earned) >Brickington VS Weeping Widow (front): Damage (3-2=1 damage) >Karie VS Weeping Widow (front): Special Damage (Healing Tears - all enemies regain 5 HP.) Another biting remark from the onlooking Apprentice, another deafening rimshot. Arnulf masterfully mugs the Weeping Widow, extracting 10 gold from it in the process. Brickington goes toe-to-toe with the weakened Weeping Widow, and swings his sword down. The Widow evades and gives him a bite on the neck. Karies tries to imaple the Widow on her dagger, but the eight-legged creature swiftly dodges. Overwhelmed by all this malice pointed at him, the Weeping Widow begins to shed tears. The tears water the Cymbalroot, bolstering the jazzy plant, and strengthen the Widow's resolve, giving him more will to fight. "Skadiddly-da-da-da-DAAA!" Cymbalroot, Level 4 Plant HP: 7/10 Specials: Ba-Dum-Tish: The Apprentice makes a snarky remark from the sidelines, prompting the Cymbalroot to perform a rimshot. Brickington Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) Sir Brickington was quite disappointed. "Ok, for some reason, My powers are useless and the spider." joeshmoe554 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) OOC: And that is why we should focus on the plant. Again 3 people on the plant and 1 person on the spider. Jeaux heard the clash of the cymbals a second time, but it did not seem to bother him this time. It seemed the cymbal attack was directed at one of his companions. That shrubbery would pay for assaulting his companions. He drew his arrow and attacked the Cymbalroot from the back row. Brickington Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 "Guys, why aren't you taking our leader's advice? Let's do three against the plant!" Quote
Shoker86 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 "Ok i'll attack the plant also from front row" Arnulf changed his mind after advice from ser Brickington Quote
Endgame Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 QM Note: Seeing as there still appears tobe a dispute, I won't run quite yet. Also, joeshmoe, Em is stunned, so he shouldn't be in the battle order at all. Quote

Shoker86 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 "Comrades cold steel will prevail, send them to dephts of hell." Arnulf shouted, as blood rushed trough his vains. He felt his comrades needed some morale back. The projectile slices the irritating plant clean in half, its "head" severing clean off its body. The rest of the party gangs up against the Weeping Widow, Karies plunging her dagger into the spider and ending the crying creature's life. joeshmoe554 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 OOC: I thought both max health and current health increased by 1 when leveling up. Jeaux started to hand out the spoils of the party's victory. He gave 20 gold to Karie and Sir Brickington, 15 gold and a potion each to Arnulf and Em, and kept the remedy and the remaining 10 gold for himself Defeating these most recent foes had given Jeaux a feeling of triumph before he remembered where they were. The dank prison cell and apparent hopelessness of their situation quickly sapped the wind from his sails and dampened his spirits. He looked through the bars at their kidnapper, a smug smiling sitting upon his face. Jeaux would love nothing more than to wipe that smirk off the man or better yet pierce it with one of his arrows. Jeaux glanced at his quiver as the thought crossed his mind. What kind of kidnapper would let his victims keep their weapons? Especially ones that could quite easily reach a foe through these prison bars. Jeaux retreated to the opposite side of the cell and slouched against the wall. Hanging his head in a look of defeat he scanned the floor for any small pebbles or pieces of debris from their recent skirmish, then casually tossed the item at the bars across from him. Quote
Brickington Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) "Wow, I suck." Sir Brickington looks down and then he realizes it, the heroes just won! "Congrats everybody! Let's hope for many more victories. Wow, 80 gold and it looks like we also acquired some nice supplies. And I thank you very much for the gold, mighty leader." Sir Brickington was now in a very happy mood. Edited February 10, 2013 by Brickington Quote
Kintobor Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Karie, somewhat exhausted form trying to squash the arachnid, takes a seat against the wall, and puts the dagger against her fore head. "Well that was fun." She remarks, the typical smirk replaced with a look of exhaustion. Her mind drifted from the battle to the masked man staring her down. Lab rat, lab rat, lab rat... "I am not a lab rat." Karie reassures herself, saying it in her head. "You will one day enjoy every second of being under my thrall. May that day come soon." "I am not... a lab rat." Karie softly whispers to herself, panting slowly against the wall. She prays to some god for the first time in a long while, that she's right. Endgame Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) QM Note: Right you are, joeshmoe! Kintobar, the level-up takes place immediately after it occurs. You are all officially level 2s now, and your stats the next time you walk into a battle will reflect this. Also note any loot that you find in this quest can be used on this quest - even immediately after you receive it, if you so choose! "Bravo. You killed a weed and two garden spiders. This epic bout will live forever in history, I am sure." Jeaux looks around on the ground, finding any projectiles he could potentially chuck at the Apprentice. He finds 2 peices of web from the deceased widows, and some sap oozing out of the Cymbalroot's now headless stalk. He also finds a plethora of pebbles. Scooping up all of the pebbles on the floor, the automaton pelts them at their jailer. the Apprentice, with a slash of the Harvester, casually swats them out of the air. "How mature of you." "I am not... a lab rat." The Apprentice chuckles under his breath. He leans in towards the bars, speaking directly to Karie. "Oh, worry not, my sweet. Denial is just the first stage of grief, that is all. You'll come to terms with reality... eventually. Learn to enjoy my presence or suffer the consequences, my beautiful little lab rat. Now, I have other business to attend to other then watching some caged animals mope. The second test will occur tomorrow. Until then." With that, the Apprentice spins on his heel and walks off. Kintobor Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Having lost all sense of control, Karie stands up and lurches for the bars, as she watches the apprentice walk down the hall, tears strolling down her face: this time for real. "DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!! I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE, AND THEN... AND THEN..." She couldn't finish what she was going to say. Anger had taken over her, anger which stemmed from a still lingering fear. "I AM NOT A LAB RAT!" She yelled. Karie's emotions were running too rampant for her to think straight at the moment. With a weary sigh, she closed her eyes, and clutched the bars. A familiar face looked at her. "This isn't like you, Karie. Get out of here. You'll find a way. I know you will." He smiled, and then vanished like a breeze on the wind. Karie opened her eyes. "Thanks mate." She wiped the tears from under her eyes and pulled out a small mirror and flicked it open. She began to touch up the smudged face paint, as well as her lips and eyeshadow. She jumps up and down and shakes her body a little to get back in the right mind set, then looked at the party. "Right. Dipstick left the key right in front of us. My drumstick lock pick plan failed completely, so we need to find another way out of this cell." Karie examines the ooze coming out of the plants head, mainly to see if it's corrosive. She then examines the lock, specifically what kind of lock it is and what it's made of. She then looks across the hall, looking for an approximate length from the cell and the jail bars. She then turns to Brickington and holds her hands out. "Brickington, can I see your sword, I want to know it's long it is." Edited February 10, 2013 by Kintobor Quote
Shoker86 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Arnulf felt great for a moment, but next second his mind was busy trying to figure out how to escape from tis mess. " Karie, dear, concentrate on things ahead" He know fellow rogue's feeling to well. " You are not lab rat, and neiter am I" He noded to rest of the group "Great job fellows, now excuse me, i'll examine the walls that suround us" Sudenlly re noticed web from spiders. "Good Thinking Karie, we may use this web to tie ur gear, if it's to short" Edited February 10, 2013 by Shoker86 Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Jeaux test had been successful, it seemed there was no magic fields or walls holding them inside, simply the bars of their cell. He could see a key, possibly the one that might lead to their escape, dangling from the opposing wall. He judged the distance at half again more than his own height. Much too far for any of them to reach with their arms, but perhaps there might be another way to retrieve it. He addressed both rogues "Can either of you attempt to pick the lock?" While waiting for an answer Jeaux inspected the lengths of web he had found before to see if he might be able to fashion a rope with them and how long it would be. Kintobor Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) " Karie, dear, concentrate on things ahead" He know fellow rogue's feeling to well. " You are not lab rat, and neiter am I" "Thanks." Karie replied to Arnulf. "I appreciate it. And not in a sarcastic way either." The man Karie considered to be a possible problem was turning into a trustworthy friend. "But am I a good friend?" She thought. Her mind was still on edge from the apprentice. His words were still lingering in her mind, like vultures over carrion. She shoved them down inside her for the moment and continued to go about examining the objects of interest. Endgame Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 The sap oozing out of the beheaded Cymbalroot appeared to be merely sticky. The two lengths of web appeared to be about 6 feet each, the distance from the bars to the wall being about 12 feet. The Cymbalroot's head, severed from its stalk by one of Jeaux's arrows, sits on the floor. Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 The rogue Karie had finally calmed down. It was obvious from her behavior that captivity was not something she handled well, and the recent spat had only aggravated the problem. Perhaps it would be best if the party rested first before attempting any escape. OOC: Can we rest here, or will the Poacher of Passion (I kind of like that name ) return too quickly? Or will we just have to find out? Quote
