Cahillrebel Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Seems to be better than the one on the actual website unless it was updated to. Quote
Bigger Fish Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) So I just watched the english version of brain attack today and am I the only who thought that it seemed like the writers thought that the viewers were morons and talked down to them by having the heroes either A) state the obvious or B) make really stupid one liners and puns. Neither of which made any sense, like this little gem. Furno: (While blocking Pryox's fire attack with his shield.) This fire shield is great for absorbing fire! Stormer: Way to stay enthusiastic, kid! That's sad because with the slowly bettering story and the great animation, music and cast, (Which unfortunately sound wooden thanks to the putrid dialogue.) the junky writing seems to be the only major thing holding Hero factory from true greatness. I even thought up a really cool Hero factory samurai theme I'm thinking I'd like to start a cuusoo project for but am afraid because if gets green lighted they probably botch it some how with terrible writing. Cahillrebel Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Well, it is designed for kids and some may not understand what all of the things are or do. However, I do think they should try and make a balance between younger and older age groups preferred materials in each episode. Hopefully that makes enough sense. Quote
CabooseBM Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Even if it's for kids, it really shouldn't talk down to them. Truly good cartoons don't do that. Quote
Dorek Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 The only problem there is the assumption that being a cartoon automatically means the target audience is children. There are multiple types of cartoons, but the most successful ones know their audience; there's a reason things like Young Justice, while being awesome, don't last as long as they should. They have trouble walking the balance of being mature, but still relatable to children (or the other way around, which is where you get things like Family Guy and American Dad and the nonsense coming out of Adult Swim these days). I don't think the HF episodes are being particularly condescending, just very broad in humor because they're only dealing with so much of an expected audience. Quote
Aanchir Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) I can definitely say one thing for sure: The dialogue in all the HF episodes I've seen is far beyond most of the stilted dialogue in the first three episodes of the Legends of Chima TV show. Yeesh. While the humor in that can be truly enjoyable, unlike some of the jokes in the HF TV show that just create confusion, the majority of the dialogue in that just states the obvious, often in short, choppy lines. Since that series is going to be a full season rather than just a single episode each year, I'm hoping that offers some room for improvement, but I was generally disappointed watching those first three episodes last night. Still need to see the Brain Attack episode... I'm holding out for at least slightly higher quality than the 360p we've got currently. On a side note, LDD updated again, mostly just with bug fixes but also with a handful of new minifigure parts. Hero Factory parts make up a number of the bug fixes. The geometries of the 2013 visor and helmets have been improved so that the visors can now close more realistically, and the connectivity for XT4's torso beam, the Brain Attack torso shell, and the 3M Technic beam with central ball joint have all been corrected. CabooseBM Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) Good writing is good writing, it doesn't matter who it's aimed at. That's why Rescue Bots and My Little Pony are enjoyable and Family Guy and the Cleveland Show are not. Unfortunately, Hero Factory does not have good writing. Edited March 28, 2013 by CabooseBM Quote
DraikNova Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 The site doesn't open. Could you post the pictures here? Quote
Shakar Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Weird, the first time I clicked the link it asked me to make an account, afterwards it sent me to the page. These are the pics: lg44008_0.jpg (300×191) lg44009_0.jpg (300×144) lg44010_0.jpg (300×191) lg44011_0.jpg (300×170) lg44012_0.jpg (300×225) lg44013_0.jpg (300×156) lg44014_0.png (240×240) Jet Rocka's price inn the site is 27.99 Euro, which likely means it'll be a 30 Euro set like Speeda Demon, I would've been fine with a 35 Euro price tag since it has so many pieces, but I can't complain. Well, it seems you and I have different opinions about 4 of the 5 shows you mention, sir. Quote
DraikNova Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I´m less than happy that Dragon Bolt only has two pairs of `blades` for it´s wings, but apart from that, they all look just as good as they did before. Quote
Dorek Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Well, it seems you and I have different opinions about 4 of the 5 shows you mention, sir. Hah. But yeah, hits the nail on the head. "Good" writing is entirely subjective; I could hand an eight year old kid Tolstoy and he'd hate me with every fiber of his being for giving him the worst birthday gift ever, but that doesn't mean War and Peace is anything near "bad" writing. Your audience, both intended and actual, plays a huge deal in the appreciation of something. Also, nice pics. I'm still stoked for Jet Rocka. Quote
Aethersprite Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I wasn't sure where to post this - but anyone having trouble accessing BZP's news stories? I wanted to check out their Toy Fair pics for the summer HF sets, but I got a page saying I wasn't allowed to view it. I'm not a BZP member, by the way. Quote

I wanted to check out their Toy Fair pics for the summer HF sets, but I got a page saying I wasn't allowed to view it. I'm not a BZP member, by the way. Its a problem for the entire Bzp site. The news stories are broken and can't be viewed. Which is a shame cause I also want to see there Toyfair pics again. (Mostly there pic of the back of brain attack surge). I hope they fix it soon. DraikNova Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 For some of their stories, they´ve actually decided to post them in the talkback section. Anyway, I wonder what the different bone parts are that make up Dragon Bolt´s torso. I know there´s a XT4 torso there, and probably two of those `double-ended` bones, but apart from that... Quote
Omicron Squad Leader Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) Good writing is good writing, it doesn't matter who it's aimed at. That's why Rescue Bots and My Little Pony are enjoyable and Family Guy and the Cleveland Show are not. Unfortunately, Hero Factory does not have good writing. The Simpsons would've been a far better example than Family Guy, considering the dire state that show is in nowadays. Or, alternatively, The Big Bang Theory, as that has always been utter trash. Shakar Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Stormer is finally in a good pose, unlike the absurd one he was put in at Toyfair. It shows his design nicely: strong and proud, like Stormer should be. Surge's and Evo's poses are great as well. I think these 3 are in their best forms so far- using their pieces to update their Breakout selves is going to be fun. Quote
Dorek Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I don't think you can really top Stormer XL, but Surge looks to be in fine form. Evo looks good too, but I liked the essence of the breakout set better. Quote

Im a brickmaster. Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I just bought Pyrox (?) and Rocka from Brain attack and I have to say, Rocka looks pretty lame, theirs something wrong with the way the visor sets on his head. Not a problem, I bought him for parts anyway. Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 It seems the new fire/lightning/ice piece is transparent on Stormer. That, or it has some pretty awesome blending. Looks great on Surge, too. Kalhiki Quote
