Aethersprite Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 (edited) The 2008/2009 BIONICLE vehicles were pretty great, but I'd personally rather see things like the 2010 Hero Factory vehicles. Which isn't to say I want to see more bikes, but I'd like to see some things that fit into more conventional sci-fi like a hovercar (or just a HF-style car for that matter), more varieties of spacecraft, etc. A mech of some kind would also not be a bad thing, although the problem with that (as demonstrated by the Exo-Toa) is that a moderately-sized mech tends to require its pilot to have a fairly generic build. Honestly I'd rather not see mechs in HF - robots piloting robots? If I wanted a mech I'd go for a Lego action theme. After all, the whole point for getting a mech is for the humanoid articulation, which we're already getting in HF. But that's just me. What I meant about vehicles like those from 2008/2009 wasn't that I'd like to see vehicles in those styles, but the creativity that went into those designs, which I think the 2010 HF vehicles managed to pull off a bit. EDIT: People have been complaining that Breez's weapon isn't secure - I don't see where on it that uses minifig rather than Technic pins? Edited October 17, 2012 by Lockon Stratos Quote
Shakar Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Jetrax99: very cool MOC. I've been thinking of making an Exo Toa-esque build in a while, but I don't have the pieces I need. You satisfied my curiosity on how it would look though! People have been complaining that Breez's weapon isn't secure - I don't see where on it that uses minifig rather than Technic pins? The problem is that- they're pins. Even at the highest friction, they rotate. And, aside from the two blades at both ends, the whole weapon is connected like that. It's like as if she were weilding an ever moving snake. Quote

Also, apparently those claw pieces on her weapon already exist as someone made a moc using those very same pieces for the weapon. Quote
Shakar Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Hmm yeah, thanks. There are some cool bone uses I'd love to take a closer look at. Which claws are you talking about? The ones at the tips are Fire Villain blades, as for those silver pieces with lime horns attached to them- they do indeed exist, they were used on the Atlantis sea monsters. Quote
DraikNova Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Actually, I've noticed that when using high friction pins, pin connections can be extremely stable. Also, maybe the reason for the technic connection on Scarox is to add back armor? Quote

I meant that I thought Breez uses those plus shaped pins to connect her weapon, but I get what you guys mean now. It can be stable, but it still wobbles. That's a pity. I've always thought those Atlantis fins use plus shaped pins for attachment. Quote
Shakar Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Also, maybe the reason for the technic connection on Scarox is to add back armor? Still seems too complicated- I mean, just stick a foot piece there, or build some alternative armouring like on Core Hunter. But we'll see. Ah, I see - double misunderstanding! I've always thought those Atlantis fins use plus shaped pins for attachment. Glad everything's clear! I get they were trying to build a bow for her, which is actually a nice idea given her air theme. But with such a wobbling design and no arrows on sight, it falls short. Now I'm thinking of using those blades in a double bladed staff, or make a silver replica of Rocka's crossbow.. Quote
DraikNova Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Actually, that's not a bad idea, using those silver blades to make an all-silver version of his crossbow. As a matter of fact, we've now got gold, silver and gunmetal blades. Quote
lemmyfan396 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Is it just me,or do I get the feeling HF is turning more into Bionicle in it's technic piece amount? In the 1.0 series it was all Bionicle again! In 2.0 series it became less and less Technic. In 3.0 the only great technic one was Witch Doctor, and then Rocka 3.0 Breakout winter set got desposed of the most of the Technic pieces But,in the summer set,Technic became more and more used. And now,it seems like they're going to use technic more... I like it! Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 (edited) The only Technicfest I see in Brain Attack is Scarox and possible Furno's torso, but that's about it. Speaking of Furno - his torso looks like it's going to be incredibly gappy. I don't like how the bone pieces that connect the 3-long trans-orange armour pieces are just hanging there. The cape would probably make it less obvious but it's still a pain to see. Great idea! One of my favourite things about Breakout Rocka is his awesome crossbow. I would do that, but my Stringer still wants his guitar. Edited October 17, 2012 by Lockon Stratos Quote
DraikNova Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I might just order an extra silver plasma gun or three just to try that. Quote
Shakar Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) I didn't except my idea to be so popular too bad they don't sell them on PaB (actually, PaB needs badly to be updated..). I'm getting an extra Stringer so it's not a problem for me, but I would like to have 2-3 spares of them (though the 1,45 Euro price tag for the gun tops isn't so appealing..). DraikNova Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) I know, I've been waiting for three months to get purple scout drones from the summer wave. Edited October 18, 2012 by DraikNova Quote
Jetrax99 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I wonder if the HF team will do anything with our mysterious 10th hero. All we know is that he/she is the new rookie. We don't event know if it's a male or female hero. Quote
Dorek Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Was it said anywhere that we would get a tenth one? Quote
Jetrax99 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Was it said anywhere that we would get a tenth one? The combo model of Furno, Surge and Evo from breakout is the 10th hero on Alpha team, but we know next to nothing about this new hero. No gender. No bio. Only that they are the newest rookie on Alpha Team. Quote

No gender. No bio. Only that they are the newest rookie on Alpha Team. Being a combo model (THANK YOU for not calling it a combiner), I'm pretty sure the story info was just thrown together and the figure will never be relevant to the story. Kinda makes me miss Lucas Valor, who was at least already established by other media (the website) before he appeared as a combination model. Quote
Dorek Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Oh, the combiner. Yeah, I don't see them doing much with that guy. It'd be nice to see some web series feature him, or something, but I'm not holding my breath. Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Wait, what combo model of Furno, Evo and Surge? Quote

Dorek Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) From the LEGO mag a while back. Instructions and most information here. Just a one-off magazine thing. Edited October 18, 2012 by Dorek Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Oh, first time I saw it. Thanks Dorké/Jetrax. Only complaint is the lack of proper torso armour, but oh well. Quote
Dorek Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Yeah, the Hero isn't particularly inspiring. The Villain is more interesting. Quote
vexorian Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I think we can cross the rumor that Chima was going to have HF-like figures: http://www.brickset.com/browse/years/?year=2013&Theme=Legends%20Of%20Chima Quote
