Aethersprite Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) I think we can cross the rumor that Chima was going to have HF-like figures: http://www.brickset.com/browse/years/?year=2013&Theme=Legends%20Of%20Chima That's a real pity. The lack of HF sets this time around is quite obvious, with the end of the Ultrabuild line. Edited October 19, 2012 by Lockon Stratos Quote
Aanchir Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 That's a real pity. The lack of HF sets this time around is quite obvious, with the end of the Ultrabuild line. We don't know that the Ultrabuild line is ending... as someone pointed out a few pages back, many of the Ultrabuilds have been movie tie-ins, and we still haven't seen any of the Man of Steel or Iron Man 3 sets (nobody has even claimed to have seen them in a retailer's catalog, we just have a list of six non-finalized set names). Aethersprite Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Wait, so Lego has teased 2013 Ultrabuild sets? This is the first time I'm hearing of this. Quote
Aanchir Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Wait, so Lego has teased 2013 Ultrabuild sets? This is the first time I'm hearing of this. No, they haven't teased anything. It's just that there are still Super Heroes sets that we've neither seen nor heard anything about besides some names that aren't all set-in-stone. So the possibility for Ultrabuild sets is still there. Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Ah, I see - but haven't all the Superheroes sets been revealed? Quote
DraikNova Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Also, it hasn't been proven that Chima won't have constraction sets. Quote
wghost Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Here and here are the two new books with Furno's and Bulk's heads on their covers. Quote
Rocketbilly Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Euugh. I thought that Bulks giant nose on his original helmet was just an unfortunate design flaw but no, it appears that LEGO are intending Bulk to have a strange nose on his face in as many of his incarnations as possible. Why? it just looks ridiculous in my opinion. Still, those head shots are nice. Thanks for posting. Quote
WARHEAD Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Wow, I really didn't like Bulk that much at first, but that face is great, very evocative of old Transformers figures. Hope the visor is detachable. Quote
DraikNova Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Personally, I don't think Bulk's nose is strange. It's just ingraved inside his visor. Quote
Dorek Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I don't mind Bulk's "nose" particularly. The helmet is actually probably the most redeeming feature of the set =P. Quote
Shakar Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 (edited) Furno sports a crown/helmet design around the eyes- and it looks printed too, since it has bold black borders lines. The question is- is it printed on the visor or on the helmet? I'm leaning towards the former. Looking at Bulk's helmet (which I really like, BTW!), it seems to me the visors connect via stud. And, Bulk has a green head. Edited October 20, 2012 by Shakar Quote
Cirkit Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Bulk's 'nose' is starting to grow on me. The apple-trans-green head surprises me. I just hope the sockets have been remolded. Furno's face-mask looks a little odd.. I wonder if it 's printed on the inside of that visor, or if the visor is removable? Quote
DraikNova Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Or, even better would be if we would get a different piece entirely. I'm honestly sick and tired of this iron man one. On a more positive note, I'm loving Furno's crest. The visor's probably trans-clear and the crest looks trans-black/trans-smoke. Quote
Cirkit Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I would like to see the 'iron man' heads remolded first before we get any new heads. I would think that any new heads would be sleeker versions of the 'iron man' head anyway, like with the 2.0 heads, but hopefully translucent that time around. You're right about the crest- it does sort of look like smoke. It doesn't appear we can tell what color his eyes are other than by the illustration. :/ I hope all the Heroes heads aren't the same color this wave. Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Interesting. Bulk's mouth is asymmetrical making him have a slight snarl. Looks pretty good if you ask me. Furno's head looks nice too. But something about it seems off. Maybe his face is too long? Kalhiki Quote
Shakar Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) I just noticed Furno's cover can be zoomed. Heheh. The details seem printed on the visor, which appears to be transparent clear (look at the top). The bluish tint comes from the markings (sand blue?). I'm impressed they managed to come up with helmets that look nearly identical to the old ones yet manage to be different and excting enough. I guess they had managed to do the same thing with the 2008 Toa Nuva masks, until those focus group kids turned the designs down. Edited October 21, 2012 by Shakar Quote

I guess they had managed to do the same thing with the 2008 Toa Nuva masks, until those focus group kids turned the designs down. I doubt it. Narly identical masks to the Toa Nuva masks would probably be recognized pretty quickly as a bad idea since the 2002 Toa Nuva masks had a weird, organic-looking aesthetic that kids evidently didn't really like in later years (if the Inika demonstrated anything). They might have had more similar-looking mask designs (after all, Pohatu Nuva's mask from Rockoh T3 was pretty similar to the Kakama Nuva to begin with), but not as close to the originals as in the case of these Hero Factory masks. Ironically the close-up of Bulk's mask makes me like it a bit more. It hardly looks like his classic mask, at least from the front (the side details seem more similar) but it has a nice aesthetic that I think suits his personality. Furthermore, the structure of his helmet was always pretty unusual compared to the other Hero Factory heroes. It's very interesting that the attachment of the visors seems to be stud-based. As nice as these covers look, it's definitely a bit odd having Furno on the cover of a book two years running. I liked how the Ninjago graphic novels have a different ninja on every spine, and wish that in Hero Factory we could have had something similar where we'd eventually have every hero on a cover, even if they're not all from the same year's sets. Also, I hope the purple Hero Factory text on Bulk's cover is in fact still chrome rather than purple like the other covers. The chrome Hero Factory text is very classy IMO. EDIT: Actually, picking up my two HF books, I realized that the chrome HF text is in fact differently-colored on every book. "The Doom Box" has greenish text, and "Legion of Darkness" has gold text. It's kind of odd that on the 2013 books, though, the chrome text's color doesn't match the gradient text of the title. Edited October 21, 2012 by Aanchir Quote
Front Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) It would be very strange if the visor was attached to the helmet via a stud and tube connection. It is not SYSTEM bricks ! The visor is not attached to the helmet at all. Edited October 21, 2012 by Front Quote
Shakar Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Way to destroy my certainties, Front :D Either it's one piece or..I truly have no idea. Quote
DraikNova Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Or it's something like Siercon and Coral's Avalon: http://www.flickr.com/photos/legocy/7904274878/in/photostream Seems pretty unlikely though. However, if it's not attached at all, that would mean it can't be one piece either. Quote
Shakar Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I thought about them being one piece because I had the feeling Front's playing a little with us, like when he teased us about Stringer's blue. But I don't see it as something they would do. Maybe it's not "attached" but it's connected in another way (a synonym for "attached"? Anyone?)...... maybe I should stop thinking about this Just noticed your post wghost, great work! Quote
Antrozek Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 either front is telling us that the visor and the helmet are one solid piece, or that.. Quote
