Cirkit Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 That's exciting! I'm not as worried about the head shape with the extra pin as i was before. I mean, we've had most of the Bionicle mask-wearing characters with pin-holes on or as the mouth, and they didn't look that bad(I preferred the Metru heads).. I just hope they serve their function well. :) Quote
DraikNova Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 (edited) Probably will. And here´s a new thought, what if what Front meant was that the head uses the pin-system (the one used to attach armor)? Edited November 12, 2012 by DraikNova Quote
Zachattacx Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Probably will. And here´s a new thought, what if what Front meant was that the head uses the pin-system (the one used to attach armor)? Ironicly enough, I was just thinking about this.It could possibly be a mix between Metru,Glatorian, and 2.0 System heads, which would be very interesting. Quote
Cirkit Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hmm, that is an interesting thought. I think that could work rather well, if done correctly. Quote
Zachattacx Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I'm thinking whole skull is based upon Glatorian head...pin hole in the mouth(Metru)....then the 2.0 holes on top of the skull but cut to look like the 2.0 head/skull..and the whole head translucent or just solid colors. Quote
Aethersprite Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) If you guys head over to the Chima thread, it seems we might be getting Constraction sets for Chima after all (albeit not in the winter wave): Edited November 13, 2012 by Lockon Stratos Quote
Aethersprite Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) Just had a closer look at that picture - you can spot the Savage Planet paw piece, the new Furno XL/Pyrox hilt piece, a 2.0 torso, a Breakout chest plate, a Captain America shield, and what seems to be 5 size shells. I'm really hoping this is true. If so, I could see Lego reusing the 3.0 helmets - specifically, Rocka, Bulk, and Furno - not as headpieces, but as possible armour. Mr. Gundam Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Ironicly enough, I was just thinking about this.It could possibly be a mix between Metru,Glatorian, and 2.0 System heads, which would be very interesting. That is what I was going for in my explanation. Since you mention it, I'm imagining 2.0 double pin holes on the top; one pin hole for the mouth and two Glatorian axle holes on the sides. Add the opinion of trans and solid colors for the head model and you have THE MOST versatile Constraction head Lego has ever created! Quote
Dorek Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Saw that earlier today. Some very cool things, but even the lion guy is probably the most generic the figures will get; imagine the crocodile (alligator?) ones... Quote
CabooseBM Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) I could see Lego reusing the 3.0 helmets - specifically, Rocka, Bulk, and Furno - not as headpieces, but as possible armour. The problem with this is, at least in my experience building with those pieces, they weren't designed as armor and so present several clearance issues that I'm not sure LEGO would be okay with. Rocka-Lion-Shoulderpads being a prime example. Edited November 13, 2012 by CabooseBM Quote
DraikNova Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Wow, I didn´t even notice the reuse of savage planet paws until you mentioned it, Stratos. Seeing as the two Chi colors are trans red and trans (light) blue, I´m very excited! Quote

Rocka-Lion-Shoulderpads being a prime example. Rocka's mask was definitely designed to be usable as armor; the giveaway is how it has a triangular indentation in the back so that it fits over longer shells. One of the things I'm most excited for in terms of Chima constraction sets is the colors. Chima figs include many colors which are rare in constraction themes, especially Hero Factory: tan, reddish brown, light and dark bluish grey, olive green, dark blue, dark green, etc. And if the constraction sets are based on the same characters as is expected, we could very easily be seeing Hero Factory parts in those colors. In fact, it's possible we already are: depending on how long the development cycle for Chima has been, it's possible that the parts like the reddish brown and dark green parts in Ogrum are being produced in anticipation of the Chima sets needing those sorts of parts. I never realized that about Rocka 3.0's helmet, lol. I always considered Furno's and Bulk's helmets to be the best armour pieces anyway, as they're not very..uh, bulky. Definitely agreed about the colours. That is, if the figures are guaranteed to be more minifig-accurate than the Ultrabuild Super Heroes were: as I'm sure everybody remembers, Hulk was lime green and Iron Man and Captain America used bright red/bright blue. Sadly I can see them, however, limiting the palette of the figures to the colours already used by HF. Green Lantern was the sole exception, because making him lime green would've been insane- otherwise, the 5 other figures used colours HF sets already used. Some speculation on my part lies beneath. Forgive me if I copy your style for a while Cirkit. The text would've be a pain to read otherwise! 1)I can see the Crocs constraction set(s?), for example, trading olive green for dark green, since Ogrum already uses it. 2)The Lions set(s) might use gold instead of tan, especially since we already have so many gold pieces in HF. The only thing against this is that the minifigs are already using gold armour and weapons, but they might find a way to get around that. 3)Likewise, the Wolves set(s?) might replace light bley with silver. 4)The Ravens should have no problems, as they're black and dark lilac with some dark red details (coughPyroxcough). 5)Lastly, I think the Eagles' colour scheme should remain mostly intact. Gold and yellow are a no brainer. I can very much see dark blue cladding, especially if there's a dark blue HF villain in Summer (and there should be one if everything goes right). I don't know which shade of light blue the minifigs use, but I can see the constraction figure(s?) replacing whatever shade they use with Thornraxx's azure. And everybody here wants more azure, right? As I said I'm just speculating- considering how much Lego is investing in Legends of Chima they might release figures with highly accurate colour schemes. As far as I'm concerned, I don't care much if tan and light bley but I'd love some olive green pieces. Oh, I can see the figures reusing Furno's cape in new colours. And we better get some cool bird wings. Edited November 13, 2012 by Shakar Quote

Not a problem- the way you do it makes it look so much more organized compared to the mess in the comments I make! I agree with most, if not all your points. The gold-tan issue should be interesting. Perhaps if the designers choose to use gold in place of tan, then the weapons will be silver with gold accents? Just a thought. Silver and gold, silver and gold... It was gonna happen eventually! Agreed about azure. I think everybody wants more. It feels like there should be a sixth set in there. I'm not sure why, it just does. Maybe a gorilla? Quote
Shakar Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) Thank you I simply highlighted the colour names. I made the colours as accurate as possible by selecting "toggle editing mode" and typing in the HEX codes, which you can find here. I agree with the silver weapons, that's what I thought too. Yeah, I wonder about the Gorilla clan (which is fully confirmed, apparently). I can see them using lots of titanium metallic for some reason, but they should use a bright accent colour too.. Oh, I just realized we might get big size versions of the minifig weapons. Those energy swords and gold axes.... Maybe we should create a "Legends of Chima Constractions Sets Speculation"? We're getting pretty off topic. Edited November 13, 2012 by Shakar Quote

DraikNova Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Well, I´m glad you mentioned the Ravens, I forgot we might be getting some purple there! And when it comes to the bird wings, how about a ball-joint attached rubbery piece, which spreads together with the arms? And yeah, a new topic sounds good. Should I make one? Quote
Shakar Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 First I'd wait to see what everyone else thinks- if they're cool with it, I'd say go ahead. Moving the recent posts here to that topic would be a good idea, might I add. Quote

Green Lantern was the sole exception, because making him lime green would've been insane- otherwise, the 5 other figures used colours HF sets already used. Well, Lyi's point was actually that some of the colors we've seen in the 2013 HF sets probably exist because of Chima, not the other way around. So the idea that they will be "limiting themselves" to certain colors in Chima would then be moot-- if anything, Chima would allow them to free themselves of the limitations they have previously imposed on Hero Factory. Don't think we need spoiler tags on set info here on EB. Forgive me for deleting them; it greatly simplifies this reply. 1)I can see the Crocs constraction set(s?), for example, trading olive green for dark green, since Ogrum already uses it. Probably a non-issue. The most important crocodile characters-- Crominus and Cragger-- both have Dark Green as their skin colors by default. They do have olive green clothing, but who's to say that they won't be dressed differently in the constraction versions? 2)The Lions set(s) might use gold instead of tan, especially since we already have so many gold pieces in HF. The only thing against this is that the minifigs are already using gold armour and weapons, but they might find a way to get around that. Again, might be a non-issue, since the clothes could be changed and I anticipate the Chima constraction figures will have heads much like the Ultrabuild Super Heroes figures (molded and printed rather than multiple pieces for different-colored sections). In that case, the face could easily just be tan printing on brown parts-- in fact, that's probably most effective, since the mane would take up the majority of a lion head mold. 3)Likewise, the Wolves set(s?) might replace light bley with silver. This makes a decent amount of sense, but at the same time there's a recent MOC by Nabii that uses what might be Medium Stone Grey shells (though they might just be painted parts, or silver parts under extremely well-controlled lighting conditions). If they are medium stone grey, then the parts exist and will probably be appearing in Chima. 4)The Ravens should have no problems, as they're black and dark lilac with some dark red details (coughPyroxcough). Agreed. Many of the Medium Lilac parts (I know this is one of the LEGO color names that makes no sense, but forgive my use of it) seen on the designers' parts shelves in one of our recent pics of the LEGO Design Headquarters might very well be making an appearance in Chima, but even if they don't, Joker and Voltix offer plenty of variety. I think the minifigures use Light Royal Blue (a shade lighter than Medium Blue), but it could be Medium Blue, and either way it could either be used for Hero Factory parts or simply rendered in another color like you mention. The Earth Blue and White are the really integral colors to match since they act as the figures' skin (or rather, feather) colors. Oh, I can see the figures reusing Furno's cape in new colours. And we better get some cool bird wings. Very good point! That'll be awesome if true, as large figure capes rarely have much variety in colors. All the more to look forward to if so! Quote

Definitely a different way to see the issue, I hope you're right.I put the spoiler tags just to make my post seem less, how can I say it, invasive: it was too long, and the transition from purple text to regular text looked kinda ugly to me. I'll admit it, I just wanted to make it more bearable to the eyes. Probably a non-issue. The most important crocodile characters-- Crominus and Cragger-- both have Dark Green as their skin colors by default. I admit I didn't put much thought in the heads (maybe because I wouldn't have much use for those for MOCing purposes), but I agree they'd use Ultrabuild style heads. That would solve the tan issue nicely. This makes a decent amount of sense, but at the same time there's a recent MOC by Nabii that uses what might be Medium Stone Grey shells (though they might just be painted parts, or silver parts under extremely well-controlled lighting conditions). That'll be awesome if true, as large figure capes rarely have much variety in colors. All the more to look forward to if so! Thanks I'm happy we're finally getting a constraction figure cape that isn't tattered (Vezon, Vladek) or huge to the point of being near useless (Darth Vader). Well, except the Mathias/King Jayko cape. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) We need more capes in HF. Also, a Chima constraction topic would be nice, but why not discuss them in the already active LoC topic? Anyway, really looking forward to this new head design. Though I'm still disappointed that the glatorian head is being discontinued. I was really hoping for a remold to replace all my broken ones and the intact ones. *sigh* guess that will never happen. However, if the new head we're getting is compatible w/ glatorian/HF helmets then that will be an effective replacement, as long as we still get the cross axle ports on the sides, otherwise Fire Lord and Von Nebula are doomed. Also, I'm still wondering what Stormer's role in the summer might be.....if he even has one.... Edited November 14, 2012 by Jetrax99 Quote
Aanchir Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 We need more capes in HF. Also, a Chima constraction topic would be nice, but why not discuss them in the already active LoC topic? We'll see how that goes, but once pics of the constraction sets become available it may become clearer whether discussion can easily continue there or not. Just judging by experience, constraction sets tend to be somewhat divisive among System fans-- just look at the Knights' Kingdom II figures or the Super Heroes Ultrabuild figures. Really the forum divisions here on Eurobricks are a way of dividing interest groups more than anything else. And people with interest and experience in constraction themes will probably have a lot more to discuss about the Chima constraction sets than the typical action themes fans. Well, it should be a sufficient replacement for most of the ones in the Hero Factory theme, since those tend to conceal the face so a difference in appearance shouldn't be a pressing issue. But some BIONICLE helmets that expose the face (including the one used in the Drop Ship set) might end up looking a lot different on the new head element. Also, I'm still wondering what Stormer's role in the summer might be.....if he even has one.... I doubt they'd eliminate Stormer from the lineup when he's such a core character. While it's a bit of a shame that we haven't gotten a new character since 2011, it shouldn't be ignored that there hasn't yet been a year when all the characters were featured. And I get the feeling that even with Hero Factory's loose storyline, they'd want to wrap things up the year before for any classic character who they wanted to write out of the story for a full year. Quote
DraikNova Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Seeing as Bruizer introduces bley parts and considering the theory that this wave of HF is to allow more Chima colors, I think it's pretty likely if the wolves use bley. And the Croc clothing might be replaced with gold or silver armor. Probably just gunmetal armor, because of how abundant that is. Quote
