Cahillrebel Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 That armor on Jet Rocka is still looking orange to me. Maybe it is because of how blurry it is. Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Frost Beast so far is probably my favorite. Everything about him just screams bionicle. He seriously looks like a more vicious version of Strakk. Try Baterra. Seems almost spot on. Just a few differences in the overall design. Kalhiki Quote
LuckyShot777 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Try Baterra. Seems almost spot on. Just a few differences in the overall design. Kalhiki I can see the resemblance, but I think he looks a bit more like strakk. He has that spikey icy beast look to him that strakk had as well. Quote
Bfahome Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 His face reminds me more of Corroder than Strakk. But I can't help but feel there's something else he looks like that I just haven't put my finger on. And it's really bugging me. Quote
Devorath Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Does anyone know the villian count on Level 20? I forgot to look and I can't be bothered doing it again. Quote
Zachattacx Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 If your talking about Brain slugs.....until you die Now villain um IDK Quote
DarkSurgeXL Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 That armor on Jet Rocka is still looking orange to me. Maybe it is because of how blurry it is. Funny, as beacause everything I noticed about Jet Rocka, is just black and silver Jetpack and a helmet. On to the helmet, will it feature a visor? Because it seems like a totally new head to me :-/ Also, I just recognised how awesome Surge is, even in this blurry pic. These electro pieces are not straighten, like Pyrox's. So that makes me think It's a new piece. At a very close look on Dragon Bolt, I think I recognised the head. It reminds me of Witch Doctors' but in blue. I'm not sure though. Can't say anything about Stormer, I didn't even recognise him, when I saw this pic. Evo and Frost Beast look good, althogh I think, that Frost Beast' s weapon is no Pyrox's, I can see it clearly. I wonder how Aquagon looks. I imagine him resembling Kiina a little:| Fon't know if it's good or not though. Quote
Zachattacx Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 God please no...Aquagon,be better than Kiina. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 It just occurred to me that Jet Rocka is basically Surge on steroids. (I was going to say Surge XL, but it's Rocka's backpack that's XL, not him.) Also, quick question for those who already own Pyrox or Furno XL: How long, length-wise, are the new flame pieces in terms of axle units? Thanks in advance. Quote
Zachattacx Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Grey Axles=3 Red Axles=6 Black Axles=2 That's my justification. Edited January 3, 2013 by Zachattacx Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Grey Axles=3 Red Axles=6 Black Axles=2 That's my justification. Yup, this is what I meant by axle units. Aren't red axles 2? And do you own Pyrox/Furno XL? Anyway, for the New York Toy Fair veterans - which day (i.e. first/second/third/fourth) are the Lego sets usually revealed / pictures are uploaded on the web? This year's is from 10-13 February, and since I have to enlist for the army on the 14th (not accounting for GMT), I'd like to have some pictures to tide me over the first couple or so weeks I'm stuck in camp. DarkSurgeXL Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Btw, does anybody know, when will the first episode of Brain Attack air in Germany, or South Corea? Last time it aired in South Corea first. Edited January 3, 2013 by DarkSurgeXL Quote
Nike2032 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Not sure if this is the right place to ask (so sorry if it isn't), but I was wondering that if i bought some Hero factory sets with Pick a Brick on the Lego website (standard shipping in the UK), would my order take 15 working days for delivery? Again, sorry if this is wrong place to post this, but I didn't know where else to ask. Quote
MakutaDreadscythe Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Yeah, coincidence. "X" isn't exactly uncommon in names nowadays. XPlode, Toxic Reapa, Pyrox, Voltix, Thornraxx… Yeah I know. I was just pointing out similarities for the sake of pointing out similarities. Oh and yes, Frost Beast does kinda look like Strakk. If only he had a better name... Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Ugh, pardon the multiple posts, but my mind was suddenly hit with a wave of questions. I'll post them all here. 1) For those who already own Pyrox or Furno XL: How long, length-wise, are the new flame pieces in terms of axle units? 2) For the New York Toy Fair veterans - which day (i.e. first/second/third/fourth) are the Lego sets usually revealed / pictures are uploaded on the web? This year's is from 10-13 February. 3) Are the new heads compatible with Bionicle masks? If it's possible, for those who have them - how do they look? EDIT: By "compatible" I mean look good. Thanks in advance. Edited January 3, 2013 by Lockon Stratos Quote
Jaller8240 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I tried the new heads with Bionicle masks, and it did not look very well. I.E.: A large chunk of clear green hanging off of the mask if attached to the front of the head. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 God please no...Aquagon,be better than Kiina. Personally, I greatly liked Kiina. Sure, her legs and arms were far too long (a common problem at the time, but made even worse by her smaller torso) and needed some more bulk, but frankly she was quite groundbreaking in that she was the first female canister set to really attempt a more feminine torso structure than her male counterparts at the time (not counting Gali, since despite some apparent sexual dimorphism all the Toa Mata but Pohatu used the same basic torso construction with only slight variations). And she did that in a quite innovative way that didn't in fact call for any brand-new elements. I tried the new heads with Bionicle masks, and it did not look very well. I.E.: A large chunk of clear green hanging off of the mask if attached to the front of the head. What if you use the "top" of the head as the front when using BIONICLE masks? I imagine if you were to do that, it shouldn't be much more obtrusive than the "chin" of the Toa Metru or Av-Matoran heads. Of course, I imagine it would definitely work better with some masks than others. Quote

I'd imagine that the head, if used horizontally, would be too short - meaning that there would be less colour in the eyeholes of the Bionicle masks, if any at all. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I'd imagine that the head, if used horizontally, would be too short - meaning that there would be less colour in the eyeholes of the Bionicle masks, if any at all. If that's a problem at all, it would likely be a problem for the new head in either configuration, since the new head's forehead projects forward from the top axle hole just as much as it projects upward from the front axle hole. That is indeed the factor I'm most concerned about as far as the new head is concerned. Truly, the new head piece is wonderful in terms of being consistent with its geometry. It has no awkward half-module spacing-- everything can be gridded pretty well. But on the other hand, this means its proportions strike me as a lot less realistic than the Glatorian head-- which, for example, had the face stick forward one and a half modules from the neck joint instead of just one. Quote
VBBN Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Personally I like the new headpiece for the versatility it can offer in terms of creating custom heads for larger MOCS, as opposed to creating something out of technic pieces using a standard socket as the connector, or a balljoint, you can use that head as a base. Otherwise I see it to be just a head meant for the masks/helmets designed specifically for it, because I for one hate any helmet that gives a lack of eyes. That is one of the main purposes of a head piece, I feel, is to give a solid light effect to the eyes. If all It does is connect a mask to a body and give it some substance, then I could come up with hundreds of other ways to do that. It's why I like Glatorian heads, you have a solid face guaranteed to show from behind the helmet, whilst these new heads could pose a problem to that if you use older helemts. or even in the villains case, i don't have any yet personally, but I don't assume they look too fantastic if you remove the brain slug, because the eyes are not really there(and the masks are kinda just flat in Ogrum's case for example) Just my thoughts really, I by all means welcome this new head mold because it could be used greatly with new MOC techniques, but at the same time I think previous masks will still be best suited to the heads they were meant to be on. (And then there are the Inika heads which...well yeah let's just stay away from those in terms of wide range of uses.) Quote

I think the Bionicle similarities are overstated. Alien parasites (even ones which mutate their hosts) are a staple of science fiction. Hero weapons have had elemental powers since the beginning. Hero Factory is still very much its own story. Meanwhile, I'm excited to see a storyline that might focus on other aspects of Hero-ing than just fighting bad guys, such as public safety (although to be fair that's what I was hoping for in the second wave, too, and we only ever got shades of it). Hero Factory has always had a sort of a superhero vibe to it, what with its themed heroes and villains. With that in mind, most superhero stories have occasionally brought in elements that tilt a little more towards fantasy, and I'm perfectly OK with that in Hero Factory. The brain slugs may have some slight resemblance to Kraata, but really they're a decades-old sci-fi trope that is actually played pretty straight with Hero Factory, unlike the Kraata which were treated as mysterious spreaders of shadow and parts of the main villain's "essence". Unless you're suggesting that BIONICLE somehow has exclusive rights to creepy transformation sequences, robot animals, or Not sure what you're getting at with the "elemental powers" comment either since that's been a part of Hero Factory since day one. in b4 "HERO FACTORY IS TURNING INTO ALIEN CONQUEST" hysteria. wghost Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) I don't like to speculate about blurry color mashes, but the set above the bottles seems to be anything but Evo. Where's the mainly yellow color scheme seen in the TV trailer? Maybe that's actually Aquagon and Evo is behind the bottles after all... Edited January 3, 2013 by wghost Quote
LuckyShot777 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Aquagon is most likely going to be some yellow fish monster or something along that line. Edited January 3, 2013 by LuckyShot777 Quote
