The awful bionicle claws (as opposed to the new ones from Toxic Reapa that do not break) do not help.

Uh? The Piraka feet don't have any ball joint sockets. And I think we can assume that the actual kit will be using the current socket joint molds as opposed to the 2008 ones seen in the rendering.

On another note, I just noticed that Dragon Bolt's neck appears to use a new piece that fuses a socket joint with the technic axle half of this part. That should be very useful.

I mean the Toxic Reapa claws are much more needed bricks than the Piraka claws, which besides not being pretty looking have appeared in tons of sets already. Edited by vexorian

That piece is still ugly not in a "looks like Dragon feet" way but in an "boy Bionicle's pieces are always so ugly and look so cheap" way.

Anyway, I was just talking about the Dragon bolt render. I now watched the trailer and it looks better there. I hope the trailer is more accurate to the set than the render. Edit: Although the trailer just does not allow you to watch Dragon bolt up close.

It seems they had to do many trade offs when building dragon bolt, in order to give it the wings and tail they had to really sacrifice the body

It will be a good set. Also, most of these renders were during production. The first trailer never showed a blue Stormer face. These were the first ones they did. Maybe they used preliminary sets of each character to base the renders off of and then fixed them when the finished the sets completely.

That's rather ironic of you to say that, considering that the "Toxic Reapa" foot you are a fan of also originated in Bionicle and is essentially a two-toed version of the Piraka foot piece.

So Dragon Bolt seems to have two new parts (or possibly three if the under-jaw is new): the head and the piece Zarkan mentioned. Lots of recolors too. I wonder if the Voltix part will be recolored?

Speaking of Breakout, do you think they should have kept the cuffs? I better they would be needed to take the infected creatures down. I guess they can't since they are animals and not regular villains. Also, has anyone found why the spikes things are on each Hero torso? I know the visor is for protecting the Heroes from the brain parasites but what is the stuff on the torso for?

I got excited for Dragon Bolt, but after realizing that DB is a smaller set than Jet Rocka, I don't know how he will look as good as the one in the trailer.

Well, we won't know for sure until NY Toyfair at least. As far as we know, Jet Rocka isn't any bigger than the winter set figure-wise. The jetpack is what makes up most of the set, and the box may be for the amount of technic pieces needed.

I can't remember if anybody has asked this, but can you fit on new Hero helmets AND brain slugs? (sans visor, of course)

It'd be neat.

Sans visor? Certainly not as the helmets cover all axle slots, so the visor would be required to attach a brain slug. If you put the slug first, the helmets won't fit.

Indeed, it's impossible since both the slugs and the helmets attach to the top hole. It's the reason the villain faces attach like Bionicle masks to begin with.

I, however, wonder if the slugs can attach to that axle hole the visors have. Likely not, since the hole isn't deep enough.

Thanks to the renders Jouster posted, I realized Stormer is using the narrow shoulders torso, just like Stormer 2.0 did.

That torso seems to be standard for Heroes and most Villains this wave (except Furno for obvious reasons), which is good since it was underused in 2011-2012 and thus quite rare.

That said, I prefer Heroes to keep the torsos they got introduced with in 2011 (wide shoulders for characters like Evo and Surge, for instance), though I prefer some characters to use alternate torsos (wide shoulders for Stormer and Bulk, narrow shoulders for Breez and Stringer).

Well, true, but I don't think the trade-offs were totally a waste. The torso is very skeletal, but the flapping wings function and well-designed neck really stand out to me as good design decisions. If they had taken off the wings and tail, then sure, he could have been made less skeletal, but then he'd be little more than a fairly boring quadruped. On a side note, I think flexing the neck more realistically (the straight angle it's at in the test render causes the "neck joint" of the two torso elements to occupy the same space) would close up some of the gappiness.

I agree that it would have been nice if at least some of Dragon Bolt's feet had been Toxic Reapa's remolded two-toed foot piece. Granted, I greatly prefer the Piraka foot in many applications (more versatile shape and connection points), but I couldn't help but notice that those big feet on that small torso have to be spread out a bit to look good (in the "test render", the inner toes of his rear feet are even occupying the same space). And besides, as you mentioned, it would be good to have a way of getting more of those remolded two-toed feet besides gambling on whether a Toxic Reapa set is from an earlier or later production run.

Anyone have a clue when the hero factory site will be updated? Because Lego is sure taking their sweet time with it :P

I'm really liking the look of Aquagon here, from what I can see he has some kind of skeletal merman face :)
