DraikNova Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Rather a couple of beams than no jaw, right? Quote
xxlrocka Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 They don't look that bad. They did that to add the teeth on the outside and have a jaw function. A jaw function? For eating minifigures? Quote
DraikNova Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 It's lower jaw consists of a hero foot, actually. Presumably it will be movable (to allow for Surge-chomping action). Quote

Aanchir Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 ^ That is the truth: http://i.imgur.com/f2lxm.png Of course, show models aren't always 100% faithful to the sets, but changing the slug colours seems pointless. 3 different tr. blue shades exist and are still used to this day, so I think it'll go like this (I'll use Bricklink names): Dragon Bolt: Trans-Dark Blue (Breakout Stringer's torso shell) Frost Beast: Trans-Light Blue (Chi Crystals, Bionicle's Ehrye's eye colour, etc..) Aquagon: Trans-Medium Blue (Stormer's usual eye colour). I'm pretty sure about Frost Beast for the reasons I stated in a eariler post, Dragon Bolt and Aquagon can be switched. In the show they seem to use the same colour, so maybe they won't bother to recolour it for a large set like Dragon Bolt. Huh, you've got a good point; he DOES have a blue brain slug. I'm guessing Dragon Bolt's would be a lighter blue color, but it's hard to say from the video. Since Dragon Bolt is confirmed to use tr. yellow, I wonder if those Ninjago/Speeda Demon giant katana pieces on its wings are going to be recoloured? Gold would seem kinda tacky IMO. I dunno, I think Warm Gold + Tr. Yellow is a lot better than Warm Gold + Bright Yellow (classic yellow), and I think it'd work just fine as a color scheme for Dragon Bolt. Besides, as nice as it is to have parts in new colors, yellow would not be the most useful color for those wing elements by any stretch of the imagination. Metallic colors tend to work better for weapons a lot of the time, at least when it's a knife- or sword-like weapon that's supposed to look sharp. Quote
Cahillrebel Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Guys I think I figured out the head of Dragon Bolt and its lower jaw. The regular new head is used(Maybe in a blue or red color for the eyes) with the face attached from the front and the slug on the top. One l beam is added to each side of the head and a hero foot is added in between them. The tiny teeth are the added on to the hole in the hero foot and the electric pieces are added to the l beam with another connect piece attached to it. There is your head. I've seen plenty of BIONICLE and Hero Factory fans comment on "new pieces" or "new colors" that had been in production for years in either System or Technic sets. BIONICLE set reviews used to be rife with this if I recall correctly. Quote

Aethersprite Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I'm visiting Novena today! To check Toyshunt and Toys r Us. Called the Novena branch today, they're not yet available, unfortunately. Usually if one store gets them, every store in Singapore will get them. I'm guessing Lego ships the sets to us at one shot. Just depends on when the stores receive them from the port. I think Toyshunt just listed them on their website prematurely, we'll probably see the sets next month. Earliest next week I'm guessing, but definitely within the next 2-3 weeks. Quote

DarkSurgeXL Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 The NY Toy Fair is 10-13 February, but I hope we will get pics from the Nuremberg one. Really can't wait to get a proper look on Aquagon. Quote

Nuremberg this year is on the 29th January. We got some videos the past couple of years, albeit blurry ones. Hopefully we'll see some this year. Like I said before, I'm more keen on seeing the Chima constraction sets. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 IMO all Lego themes are junior-ized... To a certain degree, that's the entire point of it. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) People thinking HF is junior ized... Well, to be fair, Hero Factory parts have a lot in common with many considered "<insert that tiresome argument>"... one key factor being that "non-<insert that tiresome argument>" parts generally adhere quite strictly to the principle of "form follows function", whereas action figure parts in general (besides the Hero Factory beams used for building a model's skeleton) are rather heavily stylized. However, I think that claims of "juniorization" in general tend to ignore the matter of efficiency. It takes a much more intricate design to make a streamlined action figure model without the use of any specialized elements, and not only would that minimize the buying audience and the ease of building, but it would also cut down on structural stability. The same applies to many "<insert that tiresome argument>" elements in System, like the giant airplane wing. Yes, you could make an airplane wing that size with smaller parts (even, for ideal shaping, with SNOT techniques), but it might not have the same sturdiness during play. It says a lot that some of the most amazing action figure MOCs from a sculptural standpoint also tend to be somewhat fragile, using fiddly connections to work in as much detail as possible. Recently I put together a MOC I'm quite proud of in a sculptural sense, but even it has a few parts which are simply held in by friction and liable to pop out if the model is held in a certain way. Edited January 27, 2013 by Aanchir Quote
ZORK64 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Considering this, I appreciate the "juniorization" of LEGO since I prefer to create more stable MOCs. It's also one of the reason why I usually prefer LEGO figures over other Action figures - they're sturdier. Quote
Cahillrebel Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I like that fact too. Just see how they make all of these useful parts that don't need to be made of pieces for them to work. An example of this is Furno's shield pieces/Surge's wing pieces. They don't break apart during play or when they fall off a shelf. Plus, this makes them more useful for mocs. I even figured they could be used as armor plates on the back of a four legged moc. Quote
