Aethersprite Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Two things I would like to point out that no one has noticed. #1. There looks to be some kind of green piece off to the left of the picture by the Phantoka Kopaka wings and it looks like a new piece. #2. His hands look slightly different then the ones we have already. Looking at how he is holding the handle bars, you see the area that should be an axle shape actually be a more round hole. Could this be a new hand piece? #1. That's not a new piece, that's actually the new blade piece that comes with the winter Rocka set. Good eye! #2. It's not new. His hand is probably attached to the handle via a round pin. Quote
Dorek Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 His hands attach at the bottom via a friction pinaxle (or maybe not friction, but likely; also the handlebars move a bit! A far sight better than Furno Bike's) and he has two axle caps (this piece) on top. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Well, I'm hoping he looks more like his dark grey/gunmetal show version. White just doesn't work. Quote
DarkSurgeXL Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 There is also another photo from the Fair. Shows all of the sets. http://cs316116.userapi.com/v316116273/4b2f/8Cd90hxn9vw.jpg Quote
howie28 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I can see Evo and it looks like he does have a blue visor. I can also see a long blue part that could be a sword. Dragon Bolt definitely has either trans yellow or neon green parts. I can't really make out much else there, but what I can see looks good. Quote
Dorek Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Dragon Bolt looks to be a good size, which is heartening. Definitely a worthy counterpart to Jet Rocka, who I hope won't be too expensive. Quote
howie28 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) Judging by previous prices (Australian), Dragon Bolt will be $30 (same as Furno XL) and Jet Rocka will be $50 (same as Witch Doctor and Speeda Demon). Remember, these are Australian prices, so they will probably sound ridiculously overpriced to Americans. Edited January 31, 2013 by howie28 Quote
xxlrocka Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I want a clear picture of Aquagon and Surge. That would make my day. Now, onto the pictures we've seen so far: Jet Rocka: Basically an upgraded Rocka in a massive jetpack with Breakout blasters. The white is but the wings are Stormer: A sword? With pieces I haven't already got? Flick-fire missiles? Trans. Blue? I'm in. Frost Beast: Blue Brain with red eyes. Oh LEGO, you've outdone yourselves. Oh, and like Stormer, yay Trans. Blue! Dragon Bolt: Shaping up to be a good set, but I need more views of him. Everyone else: Good game, LEGO. You've just made amazing sets. The Brain Attack series is good enough already, but I can't wait for more pictures. Quote

Remember, these are Australian prices, so they will probably sound ridiculously overpriced to Americans. S'just cuz the dollar values are different. Comparatively speaking, that sounds about right. Speeda Demon was 35 here, apparently; Witch Doctor was ostensibly 30, but everywhere besides the LEGO store marked it up 5, so it amounts to the same thing. Hopefully Jet Rocka will only be 30, but 35 sounds more accurate (still getting it!). Furno was 20, and it looks like Dragon Bolt uses the same bag size, so it all checks out. But yeah, I'm not getting all the white hate (half bandwagoning, but irrelevant). Sure, white isn't the most interesting color, but it's a breath of fresh air from the typical greys and whatnot, and I think it contrasts nicely with Rocks'a gold/gunmental, while complementing the trans-green. Aanchir Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 You mean the really fuzzy picture with ill-defined features, washed colors, and of box-art (which always includes effects to boot)? Yeah... Anyhow, I'm still excited. Sure, it looks a bit technic-y, but assuming function (and detachable Rocka!), it'll be an amazing set. I think people are talking about the jetpack's appearance in the episode trailer. Yeah... About them saying that she is a he. Ever notice how LEGO can seem a bit sexist in their exclusion of women from there action lines? It's as if they think that if little boys found out that "He" is actually a she, they'd think it would be "Icky" and not buy them anymore. Also, I got Breez and Bruizer for Christmas last year and I thought that they were cool. I, for one, like Bruizer's punching action, kinda reminded me of the first years of Bionicle. Well, in this case, I think it's just a dopey mistake-- somebody assuming that Breez, who is not referred to by any pronouns like the other heroes in the shop.LEGO.com descriptions, is a guy just like the vast majority of the sets. But on the other hand, the choice not to use gender-indicative pronouns is in fact deliberate, because frankly TLG wants to draw as little attention to the fact that she's female as possible. While unfortunate, it's true that the core audience of boys is less likely to buy a set if they know it's a girl, and sales show it (this applies to action figures in general, not just LEGO action figure sets-- often female action figures are produced in smaller quantities than male ones just to compensate for the reduced demand). I think the white would have worked better if the set as a whole had been more streamlined. As it is, I don't think the white is awful-looking by any stretch of the imagination, But I had been expecting silver or gray based on the trailer. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Let's just say that I want closer looks. But Dragon Bolt looks awesome already. Quote
ZORK64 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Are there any pictures of guys who aren't Jet Rocka out yet? I'd like to see Stormer, Frosty, Surge and the Dragon... Rocka himself looks okay. I'm surprised that his jetpack looks so TECHNIC-y though, since the last sets kept TECHNIC parts to a minimum. Quote

I dunno; the only set I would really compare Jet Rocka to from last year is Speeda Demon, whose bike WAS hugely Technic-intensive and used very little of the new building system except a few select armor pieces. Stormer and Frost Beast can both be seen in the background of the Jet Rocka pic, but no, I haven't seen any clearer pics of the rest of the Hero Factory lineup. I'm sure Atamaii.tv might have video of them on their YouTube channel eventually, just as they did of Breakout wave 2 sets in 2012. Edited January 31, 2013 by Aanchir Quote

Is that the old guy on youtube who covers almost every toy? He's quite the nice guy :) Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) Looking at Jet Rocka again... Meh. It's nice, but it's not for me. Besides, I already have Wave 1 BA Rocka. Plus, I just can't help but feel that he'll look goofy at some angles with that massive jetpack and those skinny legs. Kalhiki Edited January 31, 2013 by Kalhiki Quote
Jetrax99 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 So, we have 2 heroes with they're own vehicles in set form now. Furno w/ his bike and Rocka w/ his jetpack. Now they need to release Bulk w/ The Crusher! Quote
dviddy Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) S'just cuz the dollar values are different. It's more than that- LEGO sets are more expensive in Australia, even after conversion, and TLG does it on purpose. Australia's toy market sees LEGO as a high-end toy, and as such, TLG can charge a premium price as a premium product. So they do. In America and, to a lesser-extent, Europe, LEGO does not have this same "premium, high-end" perception in the toy market. Ergo, lower prices. Edited January 31, 2013 by Darth Vader Quote
Dorek Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 They upscale it a bit in Europe too, which is why you see Euro and Dollar numerical values being the same (13 for medium sized sets, for example) even when the conversion is different. They can afford to do so; it's still a business. Quote
Mesonak Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 (edited) Who needs pictures from the Toy Fair? I've got something much better... Gentlemen, I present to you... The most epic video across all youtube (okay maybe that's a stretch)! (Spoiler alert: It's pretty bad) Edited February 1, 2013 by Mesonak Quote

Speeda Demon completely slipped my mind when I wrote this since I don't own him (though I actually could, he's on sales in the LEGO store... but I don't want more lime green... hmmm...). My bad. As far as prices go, I can live with them given that Hero Factory is still cheaper than some other toys I invest my money into, like Transformers (which are quite expensive in Germany) or Tabletop miniatures (which also became very expensive because Games Workshop became kinda greedy in the past year), especially when you consider that LEGO parts are quality wise pretty great. The most epic video across all youtube (okay maybe that's a stretch)! (Spoiler alert: It's pretty bad) Oh god. Not another! ... The animation is horrible. The brains don't even look like they do in sets or the episode, they just look like they were made for some school animation project! And where are the other heroes? Stormer was the only one who returned! And the upgrade is just weird. It makes it look like the visor is part of the actual helmet itself. And the fact it magically transforms Breakout Furno's skeleton into the XL skeleton can't be explained. I would go on forever, but for the sake of readers, I won't. Quote
Shakar Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I llike how (Breakout) Furno's right arm is missing a shell, while the other one is upside down. Quote
howie28 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I didn't bother watching it, but by the sounds of it, it seems like a high quality video. Quote
Dorek Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Isn't this a fan-made series, anyway? You guys try making something better. Obviously it's not at the level of the TV show, but for a standard web-series based around LEGO, it's not too bad at all. Also, the brains resemble their form from the show, which doesn't actually look much like the set. Quote
