Zachattacx Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 ....Lol. I can handle not seeing pictures for a while; don't get me wrong, I love seeing prelims (and later being able to compare the finalized pictures to said prelims), but I wouldn't be opposed to a year where we don't get pictures marked as "confidential". It'd certainly eradicate a lot of the discussion that goes on every year. "Oh wow, these sets are pretty terrible." Two months later... "Oh wow, now that I see finalized pictures, these sets aren't too bad." Etc. ,Did you go into the future or something ,yeah it seems this is going to happen though. Quote
DraikNova Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I'm pretty sure we're all going to say something like this in a month: "Wow, Ogrum's pretty bare-bones, I hate him." And this in two months: "Wow, Ogrum has a unique bare-bones style, I love him." Quote

DraikNova Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Sometimes I wonder if people don't know you can rebuild LEGO sets. Quote
Dorek Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 The philosophical quandary known as the "Ship of Theseus" is why. I kinda get it, and I was definitely more that way with BIONICLE sets, but I've taken to generally modding HF sets to the point where they are vastly improved, but look almost identical. Quote

Generally whenever I mod a set I try to keep the spirit of the design intact as much as possible while making minor structural improvements (like improving the skeleton proportions). For instance, I shortened my Breez's lower legs and lower arms, narrowed her shoulders, and reduced the size of her upper arm shells. But I kept the overall design mostly the same. It helps of course that my impression of sets is generally favorable as long as I understand the intent behind the design, so there is rarely a set that I consider fundamentally bad. Quote
Front Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) 2013 will be the first Constraction wave since I started at LEGO, not featuring any new parts engineered by me. I feel a bit sad about it, but at the same time love the bricks I'm doing now. And I promise, 2013 is good. The villains are Erland, Part Design Edited September 18, 2012 by Front Quote

Front Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I'm assuming the villains have horns. That's a cool addition, I suppose. I would not put that much into my selection of emoticon This was the one that fitted best. It means: great, evil, awesome. Quote
TheRedGuy Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I hope they're all equally badass as Core Hunter, he's really good. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Evil looking villains, eh? That sounds promising. Now. Where are our pictures? Kalhiki Quote
exxtrooper Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) The one thing I'm most curious about is how the cores will be implemented on the heros this time around. My OCD really disliked the fact that the old cores didn't really go that well with the new cores we got this year. I really hope they'll settle with some kind of consistent design in terms of the hero cores. There's a lot of things Bionicle did wrong through it's time, but I can safely say that from the Ignika wave and onward none of the sets looked outdated and went really well with each other, same thing can't be said about the 2.0 style heros and the ones in the Breakout waves. Still waiting on those pictures, hopefully we don't have to wait too long. Edited September 18, 2012 by exxtrooper Quote

That sounds good, since you didn't make any new builds. I'm guessing some were still made?? Anyway, do you know if there will be a different LAF line coming next the HF? Just a yes or no Ooo, do you guys get any feedback about your combiners? Cus some of the designs were weird (esp. in the first wave) Quote
Aethersprite Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 We'll get our pictures sooner or later, just be patient. In fact, this time of the year last year we still did not have our pictures. Also, with the return of the small Hero sets, I wonder if we're sticking with the new bag system or going back to canisters. Personally I prefer the bags, they're unique and more importantly, save me a lot of storage space! Quote

I like the bags more as well, but my nephew tried to eat a spare set I had in my closet thinking it's a gummy. Also, maybe it's time to stop posting posts with the single meaning of "GIVE ME DEM PICS, NAO!" Quote
MakutaNocturn Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I'm assuming the villains have horns. That's a cool addition, I suppose. After reading these I imagined such a bad guy But Lego destroyes my imagination with their HF sets There is a paradox in these times that sets which look awesome are crap as a built set Core Hunter is badass only on the picture. vexorian Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 An emphasis in them being evil looking makes me think Nebula is going to be the main bad guy afterall. Two theories: * Last wave, Nebula just uses his 2010 design. * Second-last wave: We will get a Final Nebula in the Summer. Quote
DraikNova Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 That seems like the likely scenario. Quote
Jackattack7 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) 2013 Lego hero factory names of sets released on (LINK) smashing bricks (LINK) underneath superheroes, creator and chima. They are: Furno XL (£14.99) Pyrox (£9.99) Rocka (£7.99) Scarox (£7.99) Bulk (£7.99) Bruiser (£9.99) Breez (£7.99) Ogrum (£9.99) (Changed into pounds.) Edited September 20, 2012 by Jackattack7 Quote
DraikNova Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 We've already seen that; that information came from this topic. Quote
lemmyfan396 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I don't like the fact that they start with the 'Small heroes,Medium Villains' thing again... I liked the breakout series the most because of the bigger heroes and smaller villains... Quote
Shakar Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I just hope the Villains are varied in style- this year, 9 Euro Villains= somewhat animal looking (with some VERY creative designs) and 13 Euro Villains= more regular humanoids (with more ordinary builds). My fear is that they're all going to be humanoid, since they are all at 13 Euro. After a year full of variety like 2012, it'd be a shame. Quote
DraikNova Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Well, at least some of these will probably be more interesting humanoid builds. And who knows, me might even get an exclusive set this year. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) I like the small Heroes. I love it when things are small. Easily transported and fun to play with. Plus, compared to larger Villains, it makes it seem like they're at a disadvantage. Then, when they win, it seems like more of a heroic accomplishment. But that's just me. Really interested to see what the sets will look like. I can't see a theme going on, so I assume the Heroes will have reletively generic armor and not mission specific. As for villains, well, names somewhat give the general vibe. Pyrox will probably be fire based, Bruizer is the heavy weapons/bulk, etc. Kalhiki Edited September 20, 2012 by Kalhiki Quote
Shakar Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 If the Villain names are indicative, the list order might hint at the matchups: Furno XL vs Pyrox - both fire themed Bulk vs Bruizer - they follow The Big Guy/The Brute trope(s) As for Rocka vs Scarox and Breez vs Ogrum- don't know. Breez's theme is wind/sky, I guess- so Ogrum may be a flying villain. As for Rocka- what is Rocka's theme supposed to be? Quote
