Hero Factory 2013

Has anyone noticed that Stormer has shorter legs than usual? Normally the lower leg bones on large heroes are 7 modules long, but his are only 6. Oh, and the sets just look better than ever. Top Hero is Stormer, and equal top villains are Dragon Bolt and Frost Beast, who reminds me of Strakk from Bionicle.

I think Dragon's pose makes him look weird, especially with how wide open his jaw is. Really the main issue I see is the posing, as usual.

I'm liking Surge more and more.

My opinion about these sets remains pretty much the same as before. But here a few new thoughts thanks to the closer pics:

- Frost Beast's head looks adorable.

- Stormer wears much less white than usual. I'm surprised by this, but I like how he gets transblue and silver into his colour scheme.

- Okay, why does nobody extends Jet Rocka's wings? Seriously, it loos like Rocka is wearing a Bohrok-Costume this way.

- Surge looks fabulous thanks to his posing. And of course because he comes with awesome pieces.

- Yeah, Dragon Bolt's jaw looks goofy due to posing. But aside from that, I'm looking forward to get him.

All in all, yeah, if not with the Chima Ultra Builds, LEGO will get me with Hero Factory.

Surge looks hilarious in that pose. And I agree, Stormer looks a little too dinky. But I'm still getting both of them.

As for Dragon Bolt... I don't know. I'll still get him, but between his all-yellow brain, and the lack of yellow blades for wings, he looks less appealing than before. I wish they kept the blue-brain-with-red-eyes, similar to Frost Beast's.

Dragon Bolt:By far the most superior out of the all the villains of this BA wave entirely,and it has the best function out of all the villains.

Ew, no.

Not because of the color, I'd love some pink or violet, but the popular insinuation of sticking a female hero with a "girly" color scheme hurts me in the not-being-sexist-organs.

Besides, pink would work much better as an accent color ala Late-Generation-1 Decepticons.

Nah, if anything pink would look best coupled with black. But Aanchir's idea is the best one:

I agree, pink would be a great accent color. While I don't think using it on a female character should be completely ruled out, I also don't think it should be essential to use it on a female character.

How about Tr. Med. Reddish Violet (Trans-Dark Pink)? That'd be a cool color to see. Perhaps not as an eye color because it's not fluorescent, unlike its early-naughts look-alike Tr. Fluor. Red (Tahu's original eye color). But it could be used on an eyepiece like Stormer 2.0 had, or as accents on armor or weapons.

Alternatively, Bright Reddish Violet (Magenta) is a good color that I'd love to see start appearing in Hero Factory. The Alien Conquest theme demonstrated that it could be used effectively for villains without appearing girly. And I think unlike pink, it's a color young boys aren't automatically going to associate with girliness if used correctly. It's a very energetic color.

Magenta is a lovely colour, and I agree AC made it work very well- maybe on bones? Tr. dark pink would be great to see on cladding, I bet Stringer would rock it.

Still speaking of coIours, I wonder how much are the designers willing to depart from the "traditional" 4 Glatorian head colours. The Winter 2013 wave gave me the impression they'd follow them (with the tr. bright green and tr. neon green heads), but Summer made me think otherwise: Aquagon's and Stormer's heads are not Tr. Medium Blue (Stormer's Glatorian head colour) but regular Tr. Blue.

Since Front's words imply the new head is designed to be used for many years in the future, I'm wondering if we'll get a greater variety of colours compared to what the Glatorian head got, and maybe some "unusual" shades like the aforementioned Tr. Dark Pink.

Eh, I'm not too fond of the departure myself. Regular Transparent Blue isn't nearly as glowy as Transparent Fluorescent Blue or even Transparent Light Blue, in my opinion. And I think the glowiness of head/eye colors should still be an important factor in what colors they appear in. No, it's a mix of blue and White Glow (the new Glow-in-the-Dark color introduced in last year's Monster Fighters sets).

I agree tr. blue doesn't have the same glowy factor, and I don't know what led the designers to this switch. I'm simply curious to see how willing they are to go outside the usual "orange-neon green-blue" colour triad that was pretty much estabilished in 2009.

The addition of tr. bright green in 2012 was a step in the right direction, since we were in dire need of a proper shade of green for eyes, and even back then I was wondering if we would ever see a fifth colour for the Glatorian head in 2013. Now that we have a new head mold and in a colour that was missing since 2005 (2007 if you count the 3 Barraki with blue eyes), I'm even more curious.

It´s going to be hard to get the sets I want this year, what with the must-get Galaxy Squad sets. I might even have to limit myself to Surge and Dragon Bolt, the best two of this wave (In my opinion at least). Oh, and I think someone stole the third lightning piece from Dragon Bolt´s wings .

I think it's more a matter of the people setting up the display not being able to figure out where those parts go. You can see the two lightning pieces in a little plastic bag off to the side of the set in some pics, along with the Hero Core.

You can sort of see Stormer's head in this pic, though it's perhaps a bit too small to make a definite judgment. Likewise the ball cup on the back of Frost Beast's head can be seen here. I'll see if I can find more pics; my internet's kind of slow right now.
