sheo Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Here I present a modular railway station accompanied by a high-speed train. Railway station [ New version ] The station consists of a main building and three platform sections. The first section of the platform. The front side of the wall seems to be well-groomed......but the view of its rear side reveals some damage caused by nature. The end of the platform features an underground crossing. The roof is supported by columns......and arches. The second section of the platform. The main feature of the second module is these electronic timetables. The rear side of the wall is slightly crumbling... The third section of the platform. This fence replaces the massive walls of the previous modules. The sign warns that only pirates technical staff is allowed to enter this area. Here comes one of them.He takes a hammer......goes downstairs......and pursues a rat! Bloodthirsty technician! :) The complete platform. It has enough length to accommodate trains with up to three carriages. The second and the third modules connected together.A tourist is checking the arrival time of his train. The train is not coming yet. The main building of the railway station. Station name.Entrance.To the left of the entrance there is a wide ramp......that assists a porter in lifting passengers' luggage......or lowering it down.To the right of the entrance there is an open-air cafe. The cafe counter can be found inside the building (the design of the cash register is borrowed from Lego set 10211 Grand Emporium).More photos of the cafe. These lamps illuminate both the gallery and the interior of the building.Roof.The inside of the building. The wall is decorated with a bas-relief depicting a famous steam locomotive that served the railway in the past.To the left of the bas-relief stands a statue of an engine driver. The opposite wall features an inscription of the year in which the station was constructed. The entrance leads directly to the ticket office.Boards with important information and ticket prices. On the right wall of the ticket office there is a diagram of railway lines. On the left wall of the ticket office there is an electronic timetable. The roof of the ticket office can be opened. The inside of the ticket office featuring two working places with computer terminals......and a small bookcase.A look inside the ticket office from the platform.A restroom may be helpful for passengers who has drunk a lot of soft drinks at the cafe while waiting for the train. The inside of the restroom (the design of the toilet is borrowed from Lego set 10218 Pet Shop). The restroom is quite small - one person at a time."Now I realize why that cake was so cheap..."The exit to the platform is equipped by an 'automatic' door......driven by a knob on the right wall of the building. The knob can be easily removed.Remember that rat pursued by the evil technician? Luckily, the rat escaped. Let's see where it's hiding.A small tunnel leads......to the basement of the main building! The basement can be accessed via this hatch. No safe place for the poor rat! The railway station together with 10218 Pet Shop. Bonus.Note a secret hatch underneath the platform... It leads to the second part of the basement! Here is a powerful and compact reactor that actually supplies this facility and the train. The entrance to the reactor chamber has ray protection. The reactor core. Note the supply pipes of the cooling system. This unit converts, stores and outputs electricity.Energy system control terminal that may be needed in emergency situations. Here is an electronic brain of the train, the actual center of the railway station. These transmitters connect the computer with the train systems. The computer is definitely planning something evil that involves these large gas cylinders. It appears that the train is a distant relative of Blaine the Mono, and its brain has gone mad too!The gas control unit is ready to release a dangerous gas......that can poison the entire city population! It seems that the citizens are unaware of the threat! It is clear now that the technician serves the evil A.I.! But even he may be unaware of its plans... High speed train [ flickr | Rebrickable ] This large scale train was designed to fit standard Lego track curves although it may look strange when it turns. The train has the following power functions: Motorized bogie. Head lights. M-motor for automatic doors. As there is only one IR receiver, the lights and the train motor are connected to the same channel so that the lights are turned on only when the train is moving. The train has four bogies. Two of them are placed between the carriages. The motor bogie in the front of the leading carriage. The bogie at the end of the last carriage. The connection between the carriages allows passengers to pass through it. The connection rotates together with the bogie. Raised pantograph on the first carriage. Folded secondary pantograph on the last carriage. Slideshow of the automatic doors: The cabin of the leading carriage. The cabin has separate entrance. Note a shutter behind the cabin that provides access to the battery box. The cabin of the last carriage is quite similar although it does not have separate entrance - its door leads to the passenger section. Let's have a look through the windows at the interior of the train. The interior consists of pairs of chairs and tables between them. Also there are luggage areas for suitcases... ...and shelves for small bags. Lamps on the ceiling. Handrails near the doors. Interior uncovered. The train is arriving at the station. Thank you for your attention! Edited April 8, 2016 by sheo Quote
Murdoch17 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Awesome train station! I love the detail you put into everything. (inlcuding the reactor / computer systems) The bas-relief Emerald Night has got to my favorite part... but the evil computer controlled train is very close behind! Keep up the good work! EDIT: You put the a Lord of the Rings passage in the infromation sign! I think that sign just bumped the Emerald Night from my top favorite spot! Edited February 13, 2013 by Murdoch17 Quote
Hey Joe Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Wow, man, wow. I'm blown away and so jealous of your beautiful creation. I could write thousands of words of praise and really should but it's late so please accept my WOW. Joe Quote
eurotrash Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 That is fantastic! It's the best Modular Station I think I've seen - it's obvious so much thought has gone into the detail that you created. Thank you for sharing it with us! Oh and that Reactor Core was an unexpected pleasant surprise... Quote
pinioncorp Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Fantastic in both scope and detail. The seamless connection from street to platforms though the building is excellent, the ability to open it all up to reveal the juicy interior details is well done and to top it off you've made an attractive and technically brilliant train to go with it! Beautifully executed! Quote
cimddwc Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Indeed a great train station with lots of details - and a great train too with its rounded sides. Quote
TenorPenny Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Very impressive *and* thorough..! Well done. Quote

Andy D Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Amazing, just flat out amazing! So much detail in such a large project. With each photo I saw I thought it could not get any better, but it did, each photo seemed to contain more amazing details than the previous. As a previous poster said that he could write thousands of words, I am not sure I can find all the words necessary. Among my favorite details is the Emerald Night, but there are just so many, many. Thanks for sharing this, it gives us something to strive to. Andy D Quote

Spitfire2865 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 This is beautiful. Along with its beauty it is fully compatible with the modulars with the track parallel to the street. The details are fantastic and it has a nice historic feel. And your high speed train is amazing. And thats something, coming from me. (Im a steam person btw) Quote

bricks n bolts Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Congratulations on the the wonderful build. Love the modular layout, is great for all of us to see in case we get inspired to try just a simplified version of your marvellous creation. Are there any instructions available? Love the details too, don't get to see information like that at my local ticket office, usually not as gripping Quote
JupiterTwo Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Truely outstanding! So much detail and such a size. You should get this on cuusoo Quote
L@go Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 While I like LEGO trains and own a fair few of them, I don't really know all that much about real trains and therefore don't really comment a lot in this part of the forum. But this is just so impressive that it's impossible to ignore it. Your station is lovely to look at and has very appealing architectural features, a wonderfully detailed interior, and even a great train (albeit an evil one) to go along with it. As eurotrash said: It's obvious how much thought must have gone into creating all this. I'm truly impressed. Well done! Quote

The station is really full of details, looks reallu really good and reallistic. It has everything of a real train station and really takes you into the universe of it! I also really like your train even if i'm not a 8 studs wide man! The rounded shape fits it really really good and the interior really looks like a real train interior . And details are amazing like the little door to access the batery box! Congrats for this awsome MOC!!! Quote
