Hi everyone. I just got the 9395 tow truck and on the 14th page of the manual it tells me that I need (among others) two numbered parts, 4 and 6. I looked really hard but only found numbered 3, 5 and 6. Could this be a mistake, or am I just that stupid and can't find the right part?

Note: I am absolutely new to technic. This is my first set.

I didn't run into any problems when building it - are you sure you are using the dark grey and not black bits (it is kinda hard to differentiate sometimes in the manual)?

I assume you are on Page 14 of the first manual (pdf), building step 12. (referencing to building steps is always better).

Do you have a proper imagination of what the part looks like? Don't look too much for the number but for the form of the part itself. You should have 3x #4 in dark (bluish) grey, 2x #6 in dark (bluish) grey and 4x #6 in black. You need them in grey in this step.

Are you sure you opened all bags? Are there any parts in any bag left? If you checked, try again and search! Don't give up! ;)

It was the color that confused me. I found the number 6 in black first, and didn't bother to check for other colors. Thanks for the replies.

This building thing is a lot of fun I got to say:)

Yes, I was in the same situation few month ago, and this was also my first set. But I rather quickly realized, that #4 angled element is in dark bluish gray not black. So yes, in manuals it looks confusing, in real life it is distinguishable.

Happy building and welcome to EB! :)

Since your problem is solved, I think I can slightly highjack this tread. Did anyone else notice the slight mistake in the manual of 9397 Logging Truck? Page 46 of the 9397-1 pdf manual, step 11 and onwards. Pics included. I just want to confirm I'm not seeing things here.

(Driving ring extension is meshed with the red driving ring - this is impossible, since the axle connector underneath the driving ring is blocking the way. The driving ring extension should be meshed with the 16-tooth clutch gear instead.)

Can't say I noticed the manual was wrong, I just put it together as instructed and all the functions worked! Looking now I can see what you mean though

I'm pretty sure parts misplaced slightly are quite common.

as long as it is still obvious what is supposed to go where, it probably doesn't matter.

EDIT:

an example I just found in 9390 book 1 page 15, the 5 long axle is rotated for some reason, even though it should be aligned with the connector.
