It's a significant improvement to the fantastic original. Congratulations to those who missed out on 7191 first time round!

Oddly enough I pulled out the old one a few days ago and noticed its white pieces were beginning to yellow. "Dang!" I thought, "Now I need a new one..."

Jez Lego! You needn't have taken me so literally!!!

... and if you are now prone to fulfilling all my idle whims then...

UCS Tie please!

Those Canopy-Stickers are really horrifying.

I "ruined" my 10220 Volkswagen Camper Van by misplacing and reapplying a single sticker on the windows in the back.

And imagining having this effect on the canopy of my 200€-X-Wing... *shudder*

Sag, yes; fall off? I doubt it.

And surely it's better than this:

Obvisously, this way... There is no gravity on the wings...

If I put 10179 upside down, everything falls. -_-'

7191 is designed to support gravity. And it does support it. My 7191 has very horizontal wings. 10240 doesn't.

That's true; I only showed that for the contrast. I found when I first built 7191 that the wings sat angled slightly upwards; in time they became level. It remains to be seen what happens when 10240 is inverted with the wings in 'flight mode' or whatever it's called.

Seeing the renders... Im not so sure of my dislike for it now... they seem better than the actual released pics of it

I agree. The nose still looks too squarish, but that second render definitely makes the model look better than any of TLG's pics.

Is this confirmed? The canopy sticker, I mean.

I think that it's the angle. The way it is shown in the renders does look better than the official model, but I had no problem with the oridinal model.

Interesting that they chose to use the DS II on the box, when Red 5 is an Episode IV/V ship. I don't think it featured in ROTJ? Could be wrong. :def_shrug:

Red five flew in the battle of Endor, piloted by Grizz Frix with R2 T7

Good for those who missed the first UCS like myself. Not a fan of stickers though.

YES...finally a UCS X-Wing I can actually somewhat afford. I was young when the first UCS X-Wing came out and I certainly would not pay the huge prices on eBay for one these days...this gives me a chance of getting a UCS X-Wing at a somewhat "respectable" price (in comparison to a really heavily bloated price).

I'm a Star Wars noob and its sets in general with the theme, but I thought they don't remake UCS sets....does that mean the Millenium Falcon will be redone some day?

My guess is as good as yours, but considering that they have started remaking ucs, I think that falcon is on the top list of models waiting for remake. It sold pretty well when it came out and will most probably appear in sw7. I wouldn't hold my breath since we waited 13 years for x-wing but in the future years we can expect more remakes.

Red Five refers to a call sign, not necessarily to a specific ship. The model is meant to portray Luke's X-Wing as seen in the Battle of Yavin.

Hello everyone, I'm Italian and I joined your forum!

I hope I will be welcome!

As for the 10,240 ... what to say?

Gorgeous!

I was shopping for the 7191 ... but given the exorbitant price, appearance in May to buy this! 1559 pieces, UCS, new and improved design!

I see...well I'm glad I grabbed my Falcon when I got the chance (at way below MSRP too), but I'm REALLY glad that this will give me a chance that I missed to prior to finally grab a UCS X-Wing. For those that are hoping for a similar thing with the Millenium Falcon, I hope that you guys get a similar chance too I guess.

I was also buying the 7191 ... but now I wait for the 10240!

When May arrives???

Have you read the thread :hmpf_bad: ?
Swooshed it a couple of hours ago.

It looks good, well designed and interesting techniuqes. Some new parts, like the cockpit and a techic looking part at the end of the engines. Sadly to say there are stickers instead of printed parts, especially hard on the cockpit. It had some bubbles (of course it depends on how good you are to apply them) and it gives a non-clear glas look.

It has five red lines, its red five, i dont see lukes name on the box

Well the box doesn't portray Yavin or Luke Skywalker, seems like lego and you don't know Star Wars as good as you think.

Well both the box and the description clearly mention Luke's astromech being the one in the set...

And the description mentions recreating Luke's destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin, while it mentions nothing of the Battle of Endor. While I can't find any good pictures of the studio model of Red Five from Jedi to compare the weathering and coloring to that of the studio model from Star Wars, I think it's obvious that this is meant to be Luke's X-wing from the Battle of Yavin, and it's the artwork that's inaccurate.

It's quite clearly intended to be the ship Luke flew when attacking the first Death Star.

Size-wise I'd guess it to be much the same size as 7191, the engines, cannon bases are the same diameters and the fuselage seems to be of similar width too.

That's also what bothers me most about this thing (besides a somewhat clunky nose perhaps): The relative size of fuselage and engines seem a bit off, either the engines are too small, or the fuselage too wide and bulky.

Luke flew his x-wing in Jedi, so all fine with the artwork not that it matters really does it??
