Posted February 16, 201312 yr REVIEW 60003 FIRE EMERGENCY by Plate 2013 year comes with a some new city fire sets. Before seeing a superb review here in the forum,my intention was to buy the fire truck 60002, but there wasn't in the shop! So i went back home with this Fire Emergency set. Name: Fire Emergency Number: 60003 Theme: CITY | Subtheme: Fire Year: 2013 Pieces: 301 Minifigs: 3 Price: $39.99 | 29,99 € Links: http://shop.lego.com...equestid=884520 Put out the flames in a Fire Emergency!Includes 3 firefighters with assorted accessories Fire truck features extendable, rotating ladder and retractable hose with a water element Abandoned house features retractable flames, trash can and a streetlight Accessories include smoke diver gear, axe and a saw Extend the ladder! Turn the knob and put out the flames! Fire truck measures over 3" (8cm) high, 6" (16cm) long and 1" (5cm) wide House measures over 5" (14cm) high, 4" (12cm) wide and 2" (6cm) deep THE BOX In the front of the box we can see a picture of a fire scene in the city. Our little fire team comes to extinguish a fire in a abandoned house. In the back we have the tippical "hey!" of lego city and some nice pictures of the set. Side view: THE CONTENTS Polybags The set has 3 poly bags , a few separate parts without bag, and stickers (i dont like stickers but...for these set are necessary) Instruction booklet Instructions are printed in two booklets, one for the truck and the other for the shop. Lego parts Bag number 1: Bag number 2: Bag number 3: THE MINIFIG All three minifig have same front and back design, fireman working clothes, ready for the action!! Two guys and a girl, big applause to Lego! Front view Back view Firemen and woman with tools Accessories include smoke diver gear, axe and a saw. The set doesn't include a walkie. THE BUILD The build is made in two booklets, one for the truck and the other for the abandoned house. The building process is easy, steps are short made. Bags 1 and 2 are for the truck and 3 for the abandoned house. Bag number 1 + 2 build: The truck I like it, and believe me, pictures doesnt do justice. The new ladder design its cool, i wish the extendible one would be like the other, with banisters. The driver can see the back of the truck, thanks to a trans blue windscreen. Its not possible to fit two minifig in the cockpit, but they can travel atached to the yellow side bars. I dont like the yellow round brick with the hose, it falls easily. Some views of the truck: Bag number 3 build: Abandoned house Nothing special to say about the house ,it seens abandoned. The roof its removable and it has an special feature: part of the roof is in flames. The flames falls out when the fire is over, thanks to an easy mechanism: When the knob is turned the flames put out. House on fire!!: Well done!!: Back view of the house: FINISHED MODEL A few pics of the finished model: Spare parts: RATING I think its a great set with a lot of playability. Build:7/10 Its an easy build, not different to other city sets. Design:9/10 Simple but cool. I like the design of the ladder elevation system. Price:9/10 Playability:10/10 The burning house adds a lot of fun to the model. Minifigures: 8/10 I give a 10 to Lego for including a girl, but i would like a different torso for at least one minifig to add variety. Very good face expressions. Parts:7/10 No especial parts. The ladder is cool. It would be great that they included 1x2 modified brick (masonry) instead of the 1x4 modified brown. I´m not a big fan of stickers but i think they are necessary for this set. OVERALL: 83% CONCLUSION It is a wonderful fire set that has a lot of playability, a perfect mate for the new 2013 firetruck. The truck has a very good design and when you see alive is better than pictures. It has a realistic design. The house is simple but adds playability to the set. My next purchase will be the big truck to have an excellent fire brigade!!
February 16, 201312 yr Must have a problem with hobos starting fires in Legoland. First the trash can in the park and now the abandoned building. You think with all the law enforcement they'd catch him soon. Steve
February 16, 201312 yr The fire truck is indeed much better in person. I initially wasn't sure about this set but when Toys "R" Us had it on sale for $29.99, I couldn't say no and was pleasantly surprised. Plate is correct; pictures of the fire truck don't really do it justice. It's a really well-designed truck. My only complaint is the instructions don't really show how to store the accessories. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
February 16, 201312 yr Thanks for the review 'Plate', I own one of these sets now and I was also impressed by the fire burning feature....going to be very handy for my display at a model train show. The front of the truck reminds me of the greatest fire fighting vehicle in TV history.....Squad 51. Well, I did say it reminds me.....it's not directly the same is it ? What I found odd was the mounting locations for the tools at the back of the cab.....perfect against zombie attack eh ?
February 16, 201312 yr With so many firefighter sets over the years, it takes a lot to stand out, but I really think this looks like one of the best they've ever done. Thanks for reviewing, Plate!
February 16, 201312 yr So the fire never really get put out? Great review Plate! While this isn't one of my favorite new sets, mainly because the sizeof the burning house, I still would like to get one for the minifigs
February 18, 201312 yr Author Thanks!!Here more pictures: The fire its growing, we need reinforcements!! Sin título por PLATE3, en Flickr Some classic town minigures are coming... Sin título por PLATE3, en Flickr To all firefighters around the world: Sin título por PLATE3, en Flickr
February 19, 201312 yr Thanks for the review, I'm considering getting this set now even though the price might be a little high for my budget.
February 19, 201312 yr This set is pretty cool, but when I first saw pictures of it I had different expectations of the function. I had thought there might be a gear function to make the flames spin, giving the impression that they're flickering-- an effect that I think might have been a lot cooler than just having them fall over when the firemen spray them with the hose. Great review; great pictures. Hardly my favorite set of the wave, but it's got some nice play value I'm sure kids will greatly appreciate, and I love how the firemen now have actual fires to put out (just as the policemen have crimes to prevent other than just "convicts escaping from prison"). February 19, 201312 yr Nice review - but I really don't like this set. The fire appliance is too basic and I just don't like the burniung building. If I were to buy it I would feel like I was paying a lot of the money for parts that I simply don't want that make up the burning building. Maybe if it was half the price I might consider it but not at £25. LEGO have done this with a few of the vehicle sets this year. Where a vehicle on it's own would be £x they have added buiildings which are not properly finished buildings (burning building in this set, museum frontage in another) and the price doubles. Cheers Rog
February 19, 201312 yr Very good review 'Plate' I like Aanchir when I first saw picture of this set thought that the mechanism on the roof was for the flames to rotate to give a real fire effect. The house is fine and at least gives the fire crews something to put out. Im not a fan of the fire engine though. Im a bit dissapointed that TLG have made all 3 fire engines this time around to have the same style ladder. To me this just doesnt go with this smaller van style engine. imo
