Wonderful build! Spectacular detail and functionality. You've inspired me to try something similar at some point soon. Maybe not quite so big... but moving that direction, at least!

Big is the way to go! I'm planning an ambulance station next. Can't decide whether to make it separate or to make it an extension of the fire station...

Also, I have changed the mudguards on the fire truck now from yellow to grey and it looks much better. If I have time tomorrow I will try taking one of the axles out too.

Well, I finally decided to go ahead with the ambulance station/medical centre extension. Only the exterior done so far with the interior and the roof details to follow but this is the progress so far:

Overall view of the front elevation. It's now another full road plate wider to allow for the additional two bays for the emergency ambulances:

IMAG0148.JPG

Closer view of the new bays with the ambulances in situ. In this photo you can see the currently empty medical centre. I need to add some interior walls and furnishings. The firemans' pole has moved from the fire section into the medical centre because it then lands downstairs in clear space where it used to land in one of the garages:

IMAG0149.JPG

Slightly more elevated view showing the currently quite plain roof of the medical centre. Eventually there will be some a/c units, etc and a staircase down from the upper helipad to access the lower helipad:

IMAG0150.JPG

The yard at the back which is now pretty full up with emergency vehicles. The full complement is:

3 x pump ladders (Bays 1-3)

1 x large turntable ladder

1 x small turntable ladder

1 x off road/airport tender (Bay 4)

3 x supply/command unit

1 x tow truck

1 x chief's car

1 x quad bike

1 x motorcycle

2 x emergency ambulances (Bays 5-6)

1 x patient transfer ambulance

More photos when the interior is done...

My god. That thing is a beast. Nice work so far. I can't wait to see the finished product, but it looks like it just keeps getting bigger and bigger!

Hi rriggs,

looking good :classic:

What about a training tower for the brigade ? That way they will be able to show off their prowess to the nurses next door.....

Loved the building on it's own but now it's just freaking awesome well done and thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the interior.

Looking good so far. I like the canteen area. Can I ask, when you extended the reception area to make it bigger and the yard at the back to go with that, did you also extend the garden area for the firemen at tea/dinner break to relax in?

Yes I did! Well spotted!

Thanks for the feedback guys. The plan for the medical centre is a rec room, a doctor's office and a treatment room. Watch this space!

Do you have a firefighter pole (the one they slide down)? If you don't, you should add one. And why is the fire helicopter on top of the hospital and vice versa?

Looks amazing, like totally awesome, and huge, and, urmm there's not enough words to describe it!

There is a pole. It's in between the firefighters' rec room and paramedics' rec room so that either can use it. Once I have done the interior in the new section I will take internal photos and you'll see the pole in all its glory.

There is currently two fire helicopters. One white (MOD'd from the forest police chopper) and a red one from the current City fire station.

Uh I can see a different in building size between the fire side and paramedic side, which raises the question how do people get to the 2nd helicopter/how does the pilot get off the roof?

OK, time for some updates:

Firstly, in answer to UnknownClone's question, there is a staircase from the higher roof to the lower roof. I have also added a bit more detail to the lower roof so it's less plain.

Following Amte's suggestion, the doctor now has a car. In the UK doctor's cars have green lights:

IMAG0155.JPG

This is a couple of shots of the pole down into the garages. It is accessible from both the firefighters' and paramedics' rec rooms and land neatly between the fire and ambulance bays.

Last shot for today is a teaser of the interior of the medical centre. It's not finished so don't want to show it properly yet...

That's turned out to be a massive rescue center! Looks like your eventual layout's minifgs will be much safer with this impressive piece.

By the way, here in the USA doctor's cars look like Porsche Turbos

And with those HVAC units, my district just got some tax revenue! /roleplay

Now this is looking very impressive. just like an inner city mega station. Is your Fire and ambulance combined like they have in Dublin or separate entity like in the uk?

I see them as a combined service in LEGO City. My inspiration has come in part from the TV show Chicago Fire which is based in combined fire and ambulance station.

thats just awesome. i'm very jealous wish i had the time to create something on that scale

Very cool addition, I love the idea of the emergency services working together like that. And the building is enormous! Fantastic, i look forward to the interior of the Medical center :classic:

Happy building

I have tried a training tower a couple of times but they always end up looking too plain or just not right. I'm planning on extending the compound out back as there are parking issues currently and might have another bash at a tower when I do this...

I think most doctors here have similar cars too but those that work with the emergency services have access to emergency response doctor's cars or have clip on green lights they use on their own cars.

The cheque is in the post for the HVAC design (of course ;-) )

So, before finishing the interior of the medical centre I decided I had better sort out the parking in the rear area as it's a bit out of control. This is how it did look:

IMAG0151.JPG

And this is now - As you can see there is much more space and more parking bays. The doctor's car now parked at the far end next to the fire chief's car and the recovery truck. The patient transport ambulance and fire support truck in the main yard and the other fire support vehicles in the new extended area.

IMAG0158.JPG

There are also proper spaces now for the fire motorcycle and quad bike - marked out with proper letters for each vehicle type:

IMAG0160.JPG

IMAG0159.JPG

Lastly is the diesel pump - with this many vehicles in the fleet they would have their own pump - supplied and maintained by Octan of course!

Looks better and better every time I look at it lol.

Wish I could build a custom modular building but not enough time or even enough money for baseplates for what I would like to build lol

The medical centre is now done so here's what it looks like inside. First, an overall shot of downstairs:

IMAG0164.JPG

There is now some space for the vehicle technicians to work in the area between the fire and ambulance bays. The door from the street also comes in here and the firemen's pole drops down from upstairs:

IMAG0163.JPG

The other side of the ambulance bays is a storage area for stretchers, some dustbins and the fire exit:

IMAG0162.JPG

Moving to upstairs, first an overall shot of the medical centre:

IMAG0165.JPG

Close up in the paramedic's rec room:

IMAG0166.JPG

Some details in the doctor's office:

IMAG0167.JPG

IMAG0168.JPG

And a couple of views of the treatment area. This facility is used for treating fire/ambulance staff and as a holding area for patient's in transit:

As always, comments and feedback very welcome and much appreciated!
