Sweet! Really like the skeleton in the doctors office, reminds me of Theme Hospital! ;-)

One thing, don't you need an elavator to get the patients upstairs?

Theme Hospial - now that's a blast from the past! Fond memories although I hadn't considered it when I put the skeleton in the room.

Hmmm... A lift?. That's a good idea. Next mod planned methinks!

Started to look at putting in a lift today up to the medical centre. I've got the ideal spot but I'm going to have to move the fireman's pole to fit it in especially as ideally I want it big enough to take a stretcher. This means removing and reconstructing the medical centre floor and the vehicle technicians will lose some of their work space.

It always sounds much easier than it actually is don't you think? Will have to leave it until the weekend I think...

While I don't normally follow Town builds, this one is really impressive. I love the roof air conditioning details and helipads.

This is just awesome! Any chance of adding a police department to the building and making it a one stop shop for everything emergency?

Thanks fella! I have to confess that the air con unit design is stolen...

Thanks for the feedback! Incorporating police wouldn't be realistic for me. Fire and ambulance work well together and are common around the world. Police tend to stay separate... I think it would dilute the concept somewhat too.

Ok, so I moved the pole and tried a few different confgurations for a stretcher lift but there's just not enough room so I think that idea is being mothballed... A staircase will be going in there instead.

I am planning this weekend to put another floor on top of the medical centre but I'm not sure what to put up there. First thought was a gym/squash court but I'm sure there must be other things I could put up there. Alternatively, it could be Coast Guard offices and then find some way of incorporating a jetty onto the building?

Any ideas or suggestions?

Why not have more types of specialty rooms such as a dentist area or an x-ray department. You already have the x-ray tiles after all.

Just an idea!

Hmm....I think that maybe you shouldnt add a jetty to the MOC. In my opinion that would ruin this already perfect model. Thats just my opinion though!

I agree,no jetty.....

I am not to sure if the basebord I am going to surgest will fit with the rest of the road boards.

If you could make that fit with the rest then you could have a 'proper' A&E patient drop off shelter which would look much more realistic.

This is this my Hospital (if you look in the distance you can see the closed shelter wear the ambulance drops of the patients).

It was never supposed to be a hospital. The medical centre is meant to simply be a base for the ambulances hence the rec room for the paramedics being a major part of the centre. The doc was added as the boss/mentor of the paramedics and the treatment room is designed for treating staff (ie Injured firefighters) or as a holding room for patients in transit that have been brought in by chopper or by ambulance and are due to be transferred to hospital.

In the village of Shorewood Wisconsin USA, the Shorewood Police Department andNorth Shore Fire Department share a building (I believe it is the village hall also). In smaller towns like this it is not all that uncommon for the departments to share buildings, or at least be across the street from eachother. In the neighboring village of Whtefish bay Wisconsin, the police department/village hall and fire department are across the street from one another. And in the neighboring city of Glendale Wisconsin, the police and fire departments share a parking lot. Also most of the police cars are parked outside of the above police departments, not inside.

More interesting is hat you have the small medical area in your station. Most fire stations don't have any medical facilities. If a firefighter gets injured they are taken to the hospital. Of course different countries maye operate differently.

1) it isn't a Wisconsin based fire station and 2) Most fire stations where Riggs took the idea from do share with the paramedic services

Hi rriggs, I think you should keep this as a Fire and Ambulance station and maybe build a separate Coastguard building and it could have a jetty attached to it.

1) it isn't a Wisconsin based fire station and 2) Most fire stations where Riggs took the idea from do share with the paramedic services

I realize that. I was simply commenting that police and fire can be in the same building. And for the record the North Shore Fire Department operates its own paramedic ambulances out of their fire stations, as does the city of Milwaukee. In addition there are several "private" ambulance companies as well. I was simply stating that I have never seen a doctors office in a fire station. And as I stated, I realize most countries (and even cities and states) do things different. I wasn't saying it was wrong, just unusual to me, but interesting.

I do think it is a great MOC, I especially like all of the apparatus. I recently finshed building several fire trucks, but no stations yet.

I'm still deciding which way to go with the next extension but yes - there will be more updates. Maybe not until the weekend now...

Thanks for watching though!

Any more updates? It looks fantastic and I am in awe!

Amazing building. All those details are really amazing.

Thanks for bringing this up, I hadn't seen it yet. It is the first "modular" / bigger fire station that I really like. You have made a lot of effort to make it look so complete! Very well done!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

The bad news is that the fire station is no longer a fire station. It's in the process of being converted into a heliport. No photos yet as it's early days but the fire station is no more...

Awww! That was a spectacular MOC. It really reminded me of the main station I used to work at. (As EMS it also made me only mildly jealous of the UK approach to that branch of the service. I mean Dr's cars? Actually garaging the Ambulances? What novel ideas? In my world the Ambulances normally had to park out back next to the dumpster.)

I know this is very old, but this has to be the coolest fire department i've seen. If by chance your still around, any details on that green boat in the window in the background.

Hi

Glad you like the fire HQ,

The green boat is a patrol boat and there are photos here - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77555

Unlike the fire HQ, the patrol boat is still alive and well!
