Posted February 20, 201312 yr Hello I am new to this forum. I found it 2 days ago by accident and I wanted to try to make my own car and post here. I always loved LEGO but I live in Serbia so I don't have money for every set I want but I buy LEGOs instead of mobile phone or something like that I never tried to build completely new model until 2 days ago. So I had only parts from 8041 Race Truck and some old technic sets cause I didn't want to collapse any other model cause I wanted to see can I make something first Sooo This is my creation I know it's ugly andmulticolored but it's my first creation : I know that frontend is almost the same as b model of 8041 but that's the only normal thing you can make from this parts. You can't move doors, you can opet trunk and you can open hood and move front wheels. I had no vision of how that car will look I just wanted to make something to se am I able to That wasn't inportant part of this thread , this is. First: So now when I see that I can build someting do I collapse all the other models (I have around 10 big technic modles) or one or two when I want to build something? Second: Can you give me some ideas of something for begginers to build? Edited February 20, 201312 yr by Nicklord
February 20, 201312 yr I guess that it all comes down to how much you love the models that you have built.. You can always rebuild a model later if you wanted... If you're looking for ideas on car building, I have comprised a decent list of builders from all over the globe with picture links to their work... You will get more than enough ideas HERE that should help you travel in whichever direction that you are looking to go.. Edited February 20, 201312 yr by Paul Boratko
February 20, 201312 yr I think it's a good idea to keep your sets dissasembled anyway, especially the ones you are most fond of, because parts can be under stress whilst they are together and so can form cracks and breaks in them. So yeah, I would dissasemble them, and although it may cost some money, I cannot recommend enough that you start sorting your parts now into divider trays. I had well over 100 large sets before I started sorting mine, and it was a nightmare but very much worth it. If you want to find a piece but you know you only have one or two of them, if your parts are sorted well enough you'll find it very quickly which means you can build better MOCs and rebuild any set you have if you wish, even colour co-ordinating your MOCs becomes easy. As for ideas for beginners, helicopters can be very simple, just a rotating main and tail rotor. Try to build a small and simple helicopter with only those two functions and aim to make it look as tho it's a small official Lego set. Welcome to Eurobricks. Edited February 20, 201312 yr by allanp
February 20, 201312 yr I recently sorted my large collection into dividers, and my efficiency went THROUGH THE ROOF. I have worried about stress on the models that are assembled. If it's a large construction truck, I park the boom every night and things like they do in real life. I use the outriggers on wheeled trucks to take strain off the suspension. Unfortunately, I think I've realized that i must disassemble them. But i love to look at them. :( Sorting LEGO is fun though. I will enjoy breaking them down into organized bins and watching the bins overflow. It feels good to have to upgrade to a larger gears bin. :) I also want to sort by beams by color and length. Sorting almost becomes as fun as building. I haven't even begun to sort my aesthetics and creator/town pieces. I can't wait to dig into that and build some high quality scale mocs. I mostly strive for functionality, not so much as aesthetics, but the look and feel of things is becoming much more important to me. With the new Technic pieces, it's very easy to achieve the stability and strength required to play with a model, and then you can attach curved and other standard LEGO pieces to make it look good.
February 20, 201312 yr Sorting almost becomes as fun as building. Especially in the middle of the night when the rest of the world is sleeping and you have insomnia.
February 20, 201312 yr Especially in the middle of the night when the rest of the world is sleeping and you have insomnia. Not exactly true, you are forgetting the different time zones. Can you give me some ideas of something for begginers to build? I would start of with small non motorized models, like a dumper, forklift or truck.Making a basic truck is one of the easiest things to make. Then start by adding motors to your models to make them rc. Also using pneumatics is easier that inner actuators to add functions to your models. Edited February 20, 201312 yr by Alasdair Ryan
February 20, 201312 yr Not exactly true, you are forgetting the different time zones. OK, the rest of "my" world then.
February 21, 201312 yr It feels good to have to upgrade to a larger gears bin. :) For sure! Currently being gaurded by Mr Roamy!
February 21, 201312 yr Author ^^Wow. I'm right now in a process of disassembling models. My fingers hurt and I have 3 cuts. As long as I keep all 10 fingers I'll be happy So truck with some function is great for start? I'll try that and post it here when I finish
February 21, 201312 yr For sure! Currently being gaurded by Mr Roamy! OH MY GOD.... You use the same tool boxes as me, did you get them from Harber Freight?
February 23, 201312 yr Oh... It got shallow one for like 8 dollars and the deep one for about 10 dollars.
