Posted February 23, 201312 yr Hello everybody! Since we now know all of this year's Friends sets, I thought that it would be interesting that we write down what we think which Friends sets we await in the next years. I could well imagine TLG is going to release: - supermarket (16x24 or 16x32) - grocery (16x16 or 16x24) - flower shop (16x16 or 16x24) - jewelry (16x16) - ice cream parlor (16x16 or 16x24) - urban hotel or hotel at the beach (8x32 or 16x32) - mall (8x32 or 16x32) - doctor's office (16x16) And which are your ideas? February 23, 201312 yr Since we now know all of this year's Friends sets, I thought that it would be interesting that we write down what we think which Friends sets we await in the next years. As this is purely for speculation, I've changed the title to reflect this, so as not confuse people.
February 23, 201312 yr I'd like to see a Train set with PF controls to get more girls into motorized things -- they could use its system to make other motorized vehicles or contraptions. Plus, for getting around Heartlake City! Certainly a Mountain Chalet to go up on Clear Spring Mountain would be nice -- for skiing & snowboarding It would also be nice to have a Commnity Center for activites outside of school or cafe settings. Since they can utilize Town/CITY hospitals, fire station & police, they don't really need those sets ... or do they?
February 23, 201312 yr More sets from science, it could be medicine/biology which are the more soft part of the natural science family. We already had a chem/physicslab in the first wave. Maybe some photograher/journalism/media.
February 23, 201312 yr A modular type like haunted house was to monster fighters but a large shopping mall. Shops, beauty salon, pet shop, lolly shop, handbag shop. I think they need a supermarket too.

February 23, 201312 yr As mentioned in the friends thread a zoo would be fantastic for all the little girls to have to play with an I guess a fee AFOL would like that as well.
February 23, 201312 yr Easy....shops, yep a girl's favourite thing to do.....shoes, fashion and things for the home......I guess perhaps a department store like the size of the upcoming high school. We have a lot of kitchenware, hair accessories, handbags, etc., to merchandise a department store.....which could easily being converted to minifig scale right ?
February 23, 201312 yr Something like this? http://www.pinkstinks.org.uk/cgblog/35/35/Don-t-forget-your-mop-with-your-ballgown.html How about a playground or a hockey/soccer/lacrosse set? My daughter loves to play hospitals with her friends sets. Cheers, LLL
February 23, 201312 yr My daughter just said a hospital too. She said there is a vet for the animals but nothing for the people.
February 24, 201312 yr - A large construction site with bulldozers, excavators and cranes - A factory with forklifts, workers, conveyors, and a loading bay for trucks and train - A military force complete with tanks, aircraft carriers and anti-aircraft missile sites - A kindergarten or day-care center, featuring for the first time, young children mini-dolls Edited February 24, 201312 yr by SheepEater
February 24, 201312 yr How about a playground or a hockey/soccer/lacrosse set? My daughter loves to play hospitals with her friends sets. A soccer set like this one? So the most recent CITY Hospital isn't of interest to her? My daughter just said a hospital too. So the most recent CITY Hospital isn't of interest to her? How would she like it to be different for Heartlake City?
February 24, 201312 yr My daughter hasn't shown any interest in the City hospital, but her eyes just lit up when I suggested a Friends hospital! I think the difference lies in both the colours of the Friends sets and the level of detail, which provide for great playability. My husband wants more daddy mini-dolls and sets with the girls doing everyday things like grocery shopping with their dads. I guess this reflects him being a stay-at-home dad. For me, I'd like to see a few more larger buildings such as a hospital, town hall, museum or art gallery.
February 24, 201312 yr I'd like a couple larger sets done right: Zoo (as mentioned in the Friends rumor topic). A suitable example would be Craig Mandeville's MOC on p.44 of Megan Rothrock's The Lego Adventure Book. Gymnasium (floor, beam, bars, vault, judge's table, locker room, bleachers). With just 4 apparatuses and a couple furniture elements necessary, there would be a temptation to make this a smaller set. However, I'd really like to see a "flagship" version with plenty of Technic since there's inherent geometry to be explored in the build. I also like the ideas mentioned above: Museum, with specimens and a paleontology dig? Hospital, focusing on the research, medicine, and doctor-patient relationship. When you go to a hospital, do you really think about just the ambulance and helicopter? Maybe that's why City hospitals are apt to fail. Ski slope. (My daughter loved the action from the diving board and slide from Heartlake City Pool, but I still think the colors clash.) Anyway, there's lots of potential here. Chair lifts, slope (with jump!), lodge serving hot chocolate. A circus train, like from a particularly famous children's movie! Many subjects of boys themes could be reused with brighter colors and more detail. I'm not fond of pushing the idea of too much shopping, and I would stay away from a grocery store and shopping mall. February 25, 201312 yr My 9-year-old daughter got the Friends Brickmaster book and in it Mia and her friend build a raft and explore an old mine looking for buried treasure. It really fired up her imagination and reminded me of the Nancy Drew books that I loved at her age. So, I'd like to see the Friends sets introduce more intrigue and adventure over shopping opportunities. I like ideas others have said like a zoo, museum, winter sports. Other ideas might be: amusement park or county fair, observatory, theater, costume party, snorkeling. I'd even like to see the Friends world expanded and see the girls take a trip outside Heartlake. February 25, 201312 yr A soccer set like this one? Yeah !!! .... maybe a few more players - mixed m/f- and a net for the goals  So the most recent CITY Hospital isn't of interest to her? ...don't think I inferred that Which one do you mean anyway? The helicopter rescue one from last year...or the 2006 attempt? LLL
February 25, 201312 yr I would love some snow-themed sets. -The sleigh with two horses -A moutain animal rescue shack -A guest house like this: And the biggest set would be a ski station with working lift! New animals: St Bernard dog, White fox and goats! Edited February 25, 201312 yr by Lordofdragonss
February 25, 201312 yr Some great ideas posted here so far! Here are a few more: A museum of textiles and clothing like the minority costume exhibit in the Shanghai Museum at People's Square would be wonderful. It could include all the Friends minifigs and some new ones from other cultures. Fabric capes and dresses would be wonderful. A museum of furniture from Friends sets with some new additions all in pastel colors. A bookstore with a coffee bar. A 3 in 1 Creators' cabin building set in Friends colors with finished interiors and lots of knickknacks for furnishings and a cool smaller car like a Smart Car. A Friends botanical garden with new plants and trees and pastel colors....we need foliage in other shades of green as well as purple and lavender. A health food restaurant and store with eating spaces inside and outside. We could use more food pieces in the correct scale for Friends. A geologists' set with tools and settings in pastel colors, incl. a small truck for hauling things around. (My D-I-L is a geologist and loves LEGO!) A computer lab run by Friends....in Friends' colors with a few pets running around. A spa with massage therapists and soaking pools. A LEGO store with pastel sets and boxes. Several Friends' families including babies and children and their cars and vans. A Friends' temple scene similar to those found in Kyoto and Suzhou...complete with tall tower, large rocks and rock tablets, lake, trails and forest. A canal scene out of Venice complete with gondolas and oarswomen. We could build this into a large lake as well by combining several sets. Bicycle club with group rides on pastel bikes in many different colors. And it would be easy to change many of the Creator houses into pastel colors, add interesting furnished interiors and gardens, and sell them as Friends sets. Anything in pastel colors has my support as long as it is not violent; there are too many violent toys out there. It is so much fun to dream about this topic!
February 26, 201312 yr I'm a Castle fan, so it would be interesting to me to see what Friends would do with that if Lego would broaden the theme's scope from the Heartlake City environment to fantasy landscapes. But if that's ever going to happen it's probably still years in the future. But even in Heartlake City they could introduce some elements of other themes, like with a costume party Eliza suggested above. It could include Friends girls dressed as a princess, a pirate and an astronaut, for example.
February 26, 201312 yr ...don't think I inferred that Which one do you mean anyway? The helicopter rescue one from last year...or the 2006 attempt? Didn't mean to infer you inferred was just trying to be brief in my comments. What I wonder is what aspects of the 'any' of the CITY hospitals appeal or don't appeal to your daughter. How would she build one? Would she emphasize the heli pad, or perhaps moreso the Gift Shop for visitors to buy items of comfort for being in the hospital? That's really what I am curious about. to: Haltiamieli Here are a few Castle flavored MOCs by some Friends fans: Royal Pavilion & Emma's Cool Castle So, even with what's available now, Friends can be medieval
February 26, 201312 yr My daughter likes the City Hospital which she has, but she *loves* looking at picture of the Playmobil hospital. I think she likes that one because it has more stuff going on inside... the children's ward, nursery, emergency room, etc. That's what has been lacking in City hospitals forever. I've been ordered by her to expand her hospital... I had previously built a hospital for our LEGO City, so I think I'll tear that one down and start again, using the current City Helicopter Rescue set as a starting point.
March 2, 201311 yr What I wonder is what aspects of the 'any' of the CITY hospitals appeal or don't appeal to your daughter. How would she build one? Would she emphasize the heli pad, or perhaps moreso the Gift Shop for visitors to buy items of comfort for being in the hospital? That's really what I am curious about. Well since you ask....(she's just 5 btw...was 4 when this thread started!!) Q. "...what aspects of the 'any' of the CITY hospitals appeal or don't appeal to your daughter. " A. Definitely staff....doctors, nurses and patients. Building and vehicles would be bordering on irrelevant for her. Q. "How would she build one? " Lot's of pink and white !! Q. "Would she emphasize the heli pad, or perhaps moreso the Gift Shop for visitors to buy items of comfort for being in the hospital? " Beds, wards and theatres! Doctors, nurses and patients ...maybe a few medicine bottles LLL
March 2, 201311 yr Here are a few Castle flavored MOCs by some Friends fans: Royal Pavilion & Emma's Cool Castle So, even with what's available now, Friends can be medieval Wow! Both those MOCs are sooooo good. So many brilliant details with the pavillion and while the colours are definitely 'Friends' it's certainly not a total riot of pink and purple. I love the castle tower too, I would have liked to see more pictures of it, but from the two that were on the webpage it's plainly a magnificent MOC. Lucky little girl to have such a nice Dad. What delights me about 'Friends' is that it's all about human interactions. The girls do things together, they're busy and active and they have adventures together. Having just written that I guess it would be a really good idea to have a 'Friends' hospital or medical centre set to take care of all the bumps and bruises they're bound to get from having such an active lifestyle. As an ex social worker who worked in medical environments I can see sets built around the actual nuts and bolts of patient care with doctors and nurses and bottles of medicine, stethoscopes & etc. A wheelchair would be good to have in such a set as well. Shopping? - well perhaps just a little, but certainly sets built around social meet ups such as a cafe with outside tables. A good gym set would be good to see and I was a little disappointed that Stephanie's soccer set had just the one goal (with no net) and there wasn't another friend in soccer kit to play with her. If I have a favourite it's Olivia and her workshop set was the very first 'Friends' set I purchased for myself. I would like to see more hands on doing technical things type of sets, but I am aware that in New Zealand at least Olivia's workshop set was the one that stayed on the store shelves the longest. My WIP train layout is meant to represent a preserved railway and of course Olivia is a member of the preservation society and does her bit.
March 2, 201311 yr My daughter likes the City Hospital which she has, but she *loves* looking at picture of the Playmobil hospital....... Glad it's the hospital...not the bank!! July 31, 201311 yr What is the difference between a grocery and a supermarket? I would like to see more food. A supermarket/grocery could give an opportunity to put lots of different kinds of food in. Also a cart I'd also like to see the Kindergarten/Daycare just to get smaller Minidolls. (Otherwise... I am wondering if minifigs might substitute for little kids in the Friends world. They are rather big though...) The friends are just the right size/age for babysitting after all. And taking care of younger siblings. And once you have younger kids, you can branch out to car seats and playgrounds and a nursery and putting the little kids in the grocery carts. Instead of a zoo, I'd almost rather see separate sets for the different animals, over time. Then you can gather the animals you want in your zoo and make it as large or small as you'd like. Something to bring more bicycles in would be good too. A library. They really need a library for kids to check out books and hang out at. :) No mall needed. They have lots of individual shops already. Maybe a large department store then let folks put existing sets together to make their own mall. Definitely a hospital -- not for the gift shop and such. But beds that can be used for patients, tools, etc. in Friends scale. Don't forget the hospital nursery/NICU for babies! And a doctor's office for more mundane issues. Is there a hairdresser/haircut salon yet? Costume party! One thing I really miss in minidolls is there is no way to "change their clothes" -- For this reason I'm not even sure how a clothing shop would work. Fancy hats would though.
