AncientDayz Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 I haven't had a chance to build in a really long time, but after building the Palace Cinema last week, I wanted to add to it with the Oscars tomorrow. I only had a few hours to free-build yesterday so I threw this together. I am not completely satisfied with the backdrop (fake building), but that's all the time I had. Also, I had to use my cell-phone. If I get more time today, I will take better pictures. Anyway, enough about me... on to the Oscars! Oscar Night at the Palace Cinema After the unfortunate fire in Hollywood, this little town is hosting the Oscars. It's definitely going to stretch the 11-man police force. Let's hope they can handle the chaos! The Red Carpet The little town had to rip up the roadway between their theatre and their emporium, and they had to add a fake backdrop, seats, plants, and of course, the Red Carpet. They only had a day to complete construction, but so far it seems like the night is going off without any major hitches The Local Media The local media is having a field day at the event. Their little three man crew is having a hard time keeping up with all the celebrities, but their doing they're best to snap all the pictures and hold some interviews. They'll remember this for a long time to come. Uh-Oh, Some Trouble Not all of the locals can handle the excitement. This poor sap has had too many "grape juices" tonight. He'll be spending the night sleeping off that liquid fruit at the local precinct. The Fans in the Stands Well, at least the fans and celebreties don't realize what's going on outside of the event. They all seem to be having the time of their lives. Who would have thought that this small town would have ever hosted the Oscars? That's me in the red cap and my wife, the nurse. She wasn't happy that I wore a hat to the festivities :( ..oh, and no shirt. The Unlucky Ones Of course, not all the people in the town were lucky enough to score a ticket to the stands. The small police force is having a tough time keeping them away from the front doors. At least everyone is civil so far. Thanks for Viewing King Kong loves the Oscars just as much as the rest of the celebrities and had to make an appearance. He's just giving a quick wave to all the people for coming by. Thanks for viewing the town's quick little MOC of ...THE OSCARS! THANKS FOR VISITING Quote

AncientDayz Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Thanks for the kind comments. I just wish I had more time to actually plan and build :( Excellent scene 'AncientDayz', but those girls are going to sue their fashion designers aren't they.....like they all have the same dress ? Well, the only other designer in town made medieval costumes. The girls just had to grin and bear it. :) Quote

ER0L Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 This looks really great, it's got the right atmosphere, and I love what you have done with the background, nice idea. We should have combined the two settings ... Quote

AncientDayz Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Thanks again for the kind comments. I really appreciate them, especially with how quick this build was. Oh and I just realised something: How many pet shops do you have!? I have two complete sets, and I split a third one (obviously took the townhouse). I wanted to make a section of the street more residential, and I think it works. It probably would be better if I varied them a bit (that is why I built the one reversed), but I just don't have time right now. I kind of hope LEGO puts out another set that has two smaller buildings. I like how they break up the street. This looks really great, it's got the right atmosphere, and I love what you have done with the background, nice idea. We should have combined the two settings ... I absolutely loved your pictures. In fact, I have already drawn up plans to merge the two ideas before you even said something. I want to drastically improve my idea while adding your elements - except (while I absolutely love your cars) I may go with cars from the 20s, 30s, or 40s. We'll see how it goes. Quote

Yeah, that would be very nice! I had the same idea (there's even one vintage car involved, rather a hidden clue) but since it's not my own PC there wasn't enough time for that ... Looking forward to it! Quote
