Posted February 23, 201312 yr On Thursday my wife ordered a 42000 set on Ebay from a guy from New Jersey for $129.99 with shipping included... The set arrived today and there is a Lego Store price tag on it that says $142.99... Has anyone seen this set in their local Lego store yet..? It isn't on their webiste yet... The Seller sold 4 of them for $129.99 and now he is selling them for $139.99.... This is not a drop ship scam or anything like that as whoever shipped it no doubtedly packed it themselves...
February 23, 201312 yr It's $129.99. Given the seller's location, he probably bought it at the Rockefeller store, which has a 10% mark up on everything.

February 23, 201312 yr Author That would make a little sense then, but how much is the sales tax in New York? 8%? Plus he had to pay Ebay 9% for the sale and he shipped it for free... He sold 4 of them and has another listed right now... So in conclusion, I don't get how he paid $142.99 for this set(not counting tax), sold it for $129.99, paid the 9% Ebay fees and then shipped it for Free... Unless he had a ton of V.I.P. points.... Also 4% in Paypal fees....

In the business I work in (electronic components) I can get parts 20 to 90% below retail price and yes, I have sold stuff on ebay that I didn't need So, even though it has a price tag of $142.99 it does not mean he actually paid that amount

February 24, 201312 yr I'm guessing employee discount or similar. VFRacing: I ordered mine @ buch.de using the 11% coupon they had a couple of weeks ago, which ends up being 88.99. February 25, 201312 yr Yeah sure: http://www.atembo.nl/lego/ Unfortunately the aren't among the cheapest online-shops anymore, Prices there have gone up slightly over time but that's to be expected. (What started out small in an existing shop now has two own separate store locations.) So I might order somewhere else this time, Service there has been great all these years so it really depends on the price difference. (Yeah, I know I'm a true Dutchmen) BTW: My apologies for all the off-topic talk.

It's interesting that online the lego shop for our region doesn't even mention set 42000 yet, but these retailers have them and at neat prices... Sometimes I really don't get the method TLG uses for selling new sets...

February 25, 201312 yr I can vouch for him, allthough shipping out of Denmark is crazy expensive (most expensive the world) so it would not be smart idea for US people to order it. Also note, the price is WITH 25% VAT I see my favourite DK pusher, klodskassen.dk also has it close to that price ... hmm

February 27, 201312 yr I just happened to go to TRU today to pickup the 9396 Helicopter and noticed that I got $20 off on my receipt. Thought I'd check this out and noticed they are offering $20 off for any Lego set $75+. The only exception is on Ninjago sets. I'm sure this is area specific, I'm in the Great Seattle, WA area. Might be a way to get a little discount on the 42000 set.
March 1, 201311 yr Well Paul as of last night the 42000 went live on the Lego S@H website for $129.99. The good news is it will cost me $159.99 here in Australia and with some patience I am sure I can pick up a bargain during the end of financial year sales in June/July. Good news all round

That we managed to get it so close to what a racer looks like in real life. It was a challenge but I'm very happy with the result. Is it based on an existing race car model? No. We studied a wide range of racecars, and we took the best of all worlds and combined it into this model. What can it do? We have new elements, like the wheel bearings. The front wheel bearings are different from the back wheel bearings, and the tires are new as well. We had a high focus on optimizing the suspension, and the new bearings really made it possible for us to get it just right.We tested different designs for the suspension and durability in our test center, and the solution we ended up with is very strong. Both front and back. Some other functions that make it very realistic are: - The adjustable rear spoiler - V8 engine with moving pistons (if you lift the top, you have a full view of the engine) - Optimized steering - You can upgrade the model with Power Functions (by using the 8293 Power Functions Motor Set). March 2, 201311 yr I bought one last week (Feb 22nd) for $129.99 at the Lego store in Tysons Corner, VA, United States.
March 2, 201311 yr Paul contacted me earlier and said that the new hub housing parts are now available from Lego. The panels however are not.
