A Plastic Infinity Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Enjoy everyone, this was a pleasure to build. There is a high price for food out here! The worms we have been traveling alongside are easy to catch, nourishing, and so far, free of any negative side effects. And on top of it all, they actually taste good! They are, in fact, the main food source of most of the species that make their home within the Desolation, a lesson we are learning the hard way. Ambushes staged by the most bizarre creatures are constantly waged upon us, as they try to devour both us and our wormherd. Two days ago, we were attacked on both sides of the path by a pair of formidable predators. A hissing blue animal resembling a spiked manta ray exploded out of the slime and attacked Quane, who wielded her staff against it. As I rushed to help her, another creature blocked my path; a huge, spindly beast with a beak and a crest atop its narrow head that rose out of the marshy ground, snapping at me with jagged claws. I swung my weapon blindly and heard a sickening crunch as my staff sheared off one of its pincers. The monster shrieked and retreated beneath the smooth treacherous surface from whence it had come. I turned to Quane who had bludgeoned her assailant to death. Later, we tried eating it, but it tasted bitter. Overall, we had only lost one worm, but it was only one battle... The journey continues... This is a bad angle, but it is the best one I could capture. Thanks for having a look. Quote
