getdamonkey Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) 120 x 96 Studs The mosaic is built using stacked trans clear plates on top of a black plate base. The image itself peaks at 5 plates high. These areas can be seen in the collar, lapel and some areas of the face. This shows a the contouring a little better. Full set is available here. Darkdragon Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 This looks so insanely cool. I can't wait to get a good up close look in person. I love the idea of B/W using just the clear plates. Excellent work. Quote

getdamonkey Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Wow this is amazing, I'm not sat here thinking do I do a Who one. Absolutely awesome. Be careful, facial details don't pick up that well using this technique. You want close ups. Quote
Brickington Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Congrats! This mosaic have made it to the front-page of the Classic-Bricks blog! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 That is really awesome. It turned out spot-on. I love the layered effect to give it depth and the clear trans and black to give that look instead of full-on white. I doubt I will do one, but I'd love to try my hand eventually. Keep up the great work! You pulled it off nicely. Quote
Tilly Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Amazing! Very clever technique for a black and white image, I haven't seen it before. The close up reminds me of melting snow. Quote
