Cusm Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I have a chance to pick up a complete in box 3804 system for $40. My son is wanting to get the NXT, he is 9 and this might be his xmas gift this year, but I did not know if this would be a good system to try out his robotic interests on, or if for the price it was worth it for parts. I have looked on line and can not find much in the way of plans for this set so I was leaning towards passing. Quote
OleBM Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Just for information; this set cost minimum $164.93 on bricklink ( http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?q=3804 ). Even in used condition. If the set is complete and looks fine, I would definitely go for it, just for the sheer price of 40 bucks! :-) Quote
JopieK Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 It is really worth it then indeed! Make sure it is alive of course. another option is to use Arduino with Scratch to program a LEGO robot but you need to have some technical fingers yourself when assisting him then. (we use Arduino + LEGO PF in high school) Quote
Saberwing40k Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 It's worth it even for the parts. Quote
Cusm Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Going to pick this up in the morning, just found out it is still new, the box is open but all the items are still in bags inside. I also picked up some open complete Star Wars and Prince of Persia from the same person for a STEAL, older sets w/ retail of $295 for $65. Best deal I have ever found. Quote
