While LT and LCM are opting for Texaco

Thats not Texaco, its Caltex (although Caltex IS related to Texaco). Caltex was formed in Australia by the US government during World War 2 to satisfy requirements for having multiple US-controlled suppliers for key military supplies. It was a joint venture between Standard Oil of California and Texaco (hence the name) although these days its a public company with no connection to any US oil company :)

Er, not so it's a 50/50 thing with Australian shareholders and Chevron......gee, Wikipedia is handy sometimes !

Look it could be worse I could of badged my design Woolworths.....I did one a few years back, but I didn't like it so......it went bye, bye !

Interesting design 'Aussie BJ'.....BP in the future ?

Keep going......it's cool to have a strong contest ! :classic:

No not so much from the future, pretty much a current one. I can see why you thought so with those signs on the pumps.

Now this is what I call a servo !

I still have a large sign to place somewhere.....tossing up where to put it right now.

Stickers hey......! Nice one, have you been surfing on that base plate or what she's a bit curly.

Ok here's a peak at my roof still working on it though. Started work on my vehicle last night who wants to see a picture of it?

Roof looks good 'Aussie BJ', now that base plate is just to start it.....might move the build to a pair of 16x32 DBG's.

Now I have a sign.....but I'm not sure ?

“Servo Showdown”

With the excitement of Gas Station seen at the Copenhagen Toy Fair and the disappointment finding out it will not be an official set the Town forum has been fueled up with talk of all things Octan.

Can I ask for a link to the topic where this Gas Station was shown ? I can not seem to find it

In the name of the wee man....I go away for a few days to finally get fully qualified as proper architect  , and all sorts of nonsense has kicked off! Seem like you have laid down the gauntlet lightningtiger!!

Well, what about danthaman11's Octan Gas Station which was presented here a year ago:

I think it can easily compete with the one shown in the display.

Isn't there a Flickr group with gas stations? We should have something like that ...

Yes, the tiger is laying down the challenge to everyone else.....battle building !

How many of us are doing battle ?

Great looking MOC, LT.

I'm in!! Still digging through pieces to get mine finished...should be done soon though.

I'm extremely disappointed the display MOC is not an actual set, I thought it looked great. I think we're long overdue for a gas station set.

Anyway, Great contest idea!

Not that many of us by the looks of it or they are all lurking in the woods like sharp shooters. *oh2*

Here's and update on my pumps. Still needing some refinement but getting there.

I'm working on a service station for my layout, but size wise it will be bigger than 32x32. It is also more a mod/combination of a few sets rather than a MOC so not sure how suitable for entry it will be. I am keeping a keen eye on this comp for inspiration though, may change things before I'm finished.

If I get the time to finish it before the deadline, and can re-arrange onto a 32x32 I might just enter it. Some earlier photos from last year's layout are here and here, buildings will be similar, though more detailed and configuration will be different.

Keep up the good work LT and BJ, your WIP shots look great.

Thanks for the positive vibes for the w-i-p's 'Xyver', and I now see what 'Aussie BJ' is up to....I suggest a custom sticker for the bowser gauges like I do.....it just adds the real factor.

Battle On everyone !

Battle On everyone !

Yeah, you took the words out of mouth LT. I meant to mention that I was going to do that in my last post.

Thanks Xyver, glad you like our teaser shots. Keeping a few things up my sleeve just incase of an ambush.

Might have the night off from the servo and try something for that minifig contest. Will probably build a mini servo
