lightningtiger Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Ah, just like the Octan gas station included in a 90's marina set.....pumps and engine repair workshop right on the pier. I'll be interested in seeing that.....oh, I better plan on that addition.....don't want to give away any ground ! Quote
Electricsteam Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 (edited) I might as well post a picture of my gas station that is not eligable for the contest... Edited March 9, 2013 by Electricsteam Quote
Aussie BJ Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I might as well post a picture of my gas station that is not eligable for the contest... Looking good Electricsteam. Nice and big. Thinking of doing up a big one after this little contest myself. Oh no! could that be the next contest/war? no size limits.....! Lookout for the vacuum in that room I can see heaps of little hidden treasures. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Ah, 'Electricsteam;......something early 20th century eh ? Brick On ! Quote

greg3 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 A quick WIP pic of my entry.... the basic structure is done but there's still a lot to do... A link to a reference pic... http://hdrcreme.com/photos/27366-stesyen-minyak Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Interesting idea 'greg3', I can see the basis of the end result.....but yeah, a lot more work to be done.....hard to see the pumps - I suggest hunting down images of the pumps on their own so you can nail the design. Brick On Battle On ! Quote
greg3 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Don't worry LT... I'm working on the pumps as I type!! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Don't worry LT... I'm working on the pumps as I type!! Multi-tasking eh ? I'm still finalising my last bit to mine..... Quote
ER0L Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Wow, there are already some great designs, so this will be a tough contest. Luckily there is still enough time, since I am quite struggling with some aspects. This is what I have done so far, there is the shape, the colour design and most of the dimensions (and the car which was not that difficult ), but still a lot to do, as you may see ... Keep it up guys! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Nice so far 'ER0L', though maybe some custom period stickers might help......some model railway shops might have them. Brick On Battle On ! Quote
SalvoBrick Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Almost finished :) It needs some stickers, but it's almost completed. BTW, it's the first real modular I've done, with open roof and furnished interiors :) (don't expect to see this again for a loooong time :) ) Quote
ER0L Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Nice so far 'ER0L', though maybe some custom period stickers might help......some model railway shops might have them. Brick On Battle On ! Thanks LT! Well, I rather try to reduce any custom stuff to a minimum, and since there are a lot of printed Shell bricks and tiles I think I won't need any custom stickerwork. It's obvious that you can hardly avoid them if you choose a corporation withouth this advantage, so that's okay for me. Almost finished :) It needs some stickers, but it's almost completed. BTW, it's the first real modular I've done, with open roof and furnished interiors :) (don't expect to see this again for a loooong time :) ) Another Shell station, nice! This looks really great SalvoBrick. I love the shaping of the roof, and your pumps are excellent. Keep it up! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Nice one 'SalvoBrick', so many Shell, so many Octan.......glad I'm working on a Caltex ! Quote
Electricsteam Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) I still can't enter my project is over the limit on size and is alot my complex that I had planned for... (mostly the roof and he interior) A lot of angly bits for the roof. This here is my main problem. Edited March 11, 2013 by Electricsteam Quote

(mostly the roof and he interior) A lot of angly bits for the roof. yes I know its not a word) This here is my main problem. What? Is this a question, or statement? It doesn't make sense... May be re-edit and maybe keep the font size easier to read? Had to squint Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I think he is building a fancy gas station similar to a Philips 76. Gee, hopefully tomorrow I get to finish the 32x32 layout - shoot it, post it and then transfer it to my New Mannum layout. Quote

Had to squint This is my main problem was refering to the picture... I need to make a roof with a platform going through the middle to have for the supports to connect from the are where the GasPumps will be. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 A reference picture of a real gas station might help clear things up.....that's if it's being modelled on or inspired by is real ? Quote
SalvoBrick Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Finished! :) As I've said before, it's my first modular with complete interiors. I did it using only spare parts, so I'm not sure I will add on my diorama. Some details could have been better, but I've used only a limited palette of bricks. Anyway: Inside with shop and bathroom Detail of the bathroom The shop I've had a lot of fun doing this small Shell station :) hope you like it! Quote
Aussie BJ Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Looks good Salvobrick, You did well using only your left overs and a half size base plate. Just check the rules, but I think you need to start a new topic with your masterpiece then post a link here. Also you need 3 minifigs plus your cool looking van. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Nice entry 'SalvoBrick', see I haven't finished mine yet so I also haven't fired my final shot in this battle ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) This is my main problem was refering to the picture... I need to make a roof with a platform going through the middle to have for the supports to connect from the are where the GasPumps will be. I think I have what you're saying. You'll have to put a layer of plates, separating the steep slope of the roof, attaching the roof to which ever side you want it to protrude out. This is the only way I can think of, since there are no plates with sloped edges. It will interrupt the the seamless slope of the roof a little. So by the picture, imagine those two, horizontal, black lines matching with the rest of the black bar (representing the roof you want installed). /\ / \ ___/____ \____ ___I_____I____ / \ / \ Something like this Edited March 11, 2013 by LEGO Guy Bri Quote
